I could be wrong.. but I feel like most men are willing to be fair.. most.. and end up getting fucked trying to be fair.. while women.. generally.. not all.. but many just want everything and fuck the man over for all the blame they put on them.

I tried to explain this to my STBXW.. she doesn't care. she will.. but she doesnt now. She will want nothing but seeing me suffer.

Why would her keeping the house.. with 200K and him keeping accounts with 26K.. sound perfect? Only if he owes no alimony ever.. and they been married 20+ years might that be a good call.

Park them in storage.. wont be uber cheap.. though she is likely going to know they are gone.. and I believe those are split assets in most locations.. so you will have to get the value of them and pay her her half of those.

You make a lot of sense and honestly why I am STILL not filing.. hoping to pay down debt, and afford the "good" lawyer. We just have days where I am like "I am done.. things may escalate to one or both of us being arrested.. Im moving out". Given how California is so crazy stupid over the slightest thing being the potential to be arrested.. as my consult told me (with the good lawyer).. in Cali.. verbal abuse can be considered enough to have someone arrested (depending on the level of course.. h…

That is not true in all states I guess. In California.. I was told.. if I move out.. I no longer pay for the home I am not living in. Whoever lives there.. pays for it. Otherwise.. divorce wouldn't be possible for most people. The guy is paying all the bills.. and then moves out and now has to pay for all that and his place too while the person living there gets a free ride and NO incentive to ever sign the divorce? Nope.

Right.. but.. is it literally going to be half my pay check if she is barely working right now.. ? Like.. I am unclear how this works.. she is a contract worker who has 1 day a week tops. So she makes about 1K a month. She used to make about 120K a year part time.. so I am unclear if they will look at what she SHOULD be making but chose to fuck up her career (lying).. and say "too bad.. you fucked up.. he shouldn't have to give up WAY more than he normally would have had you been working like yo…

But only if your STBXW is ALSO uncomfortable. If she thrives on fighting/arguing/yelling/angry/etc.. then it's just going to be unberable for the dude.. and could likely lead to some trumped up bullshit charges that could ruin his life in any number of ways. I am not sure I understand.. if you move out.. she pays for the home.. not the guy. Guy might have to pay some alimony.. Is it saying IF you live IN the home while going through divorce.. you do NOT have to pay her alimony (until divorce is …

Apparently I am banned from that link (no clue why..but I am on VPN so maybe that is why..). I read this all the time.. stay in the house. My STBXW is making it VERY difficult and I haven't even filed yet. Whenever she is angry she comes in to my WFH office.. when I lock the door she bangs the shit out of it.. Some say call the police. That is a possible option..but I am a VERY loud person when we fight.. and I suspect she has me recorded (seen her do it on her phone a few times) and I record he…

So.. the only thing I wanted my paid services lawyer to do.. was file.. which would entail asking me for any/all paperwork needed.. finances, etc.. that will take several hours of time from what I understand. They give 20 hours of "free" time. My only reason for asking was if the up front work that any lawyer is going to do.. could be done by the one I already paid for.. and then the rest done by the lawyer I want. If it's a bad idea, so be it.. then I'll just stick this out for several more mon…

My understanding is that I could end up paying her fees.. no matter how much she racks them up.. cause I make like 2x to 3x she does.. even though she works part time and could make as much.

My last kid is graduating this year.. she'll likely be staying local though.. not sure if she'll try to move out once I leave and figure out how to make money or what. That is honestly the biggest issue.. I have a 23 year old living at home too.. and has some issues.. and I can't afford move out.. alimony.. and support my 23 or soon to be 18 year old. Not really sure what to do.. and my STBXW is barely working.. though she did work the past 3 years part time and made about 1/2 of what I did. I k…

I can NOT live here with her. I work from home too.. and she is not working (right now due to her work cutting hours/etc.. ).. so she is always here..and she will NOT leave me alone. I can't hold my job.. if she is constantly interrupting/bothering/fighting with me. I have to move out. Worse.. I have no doubt she'll try some shit.. she has literally made shit up like I pushed her when she trips and falls backwards and blames me. Seems a lot of folks answered.. and depending on where you live.. and hte kids ages.. you're going to owe her a shit ton of money every month. They'll likely ask for the last 3 years of W2s. She has 0 income.. you have it all.. so she'll command child support to the tune of 700 to 1200 per kid (depending on where you live, what yo make, etc).. and probably 2K or so alimony for 10 years or longer. If the kids are about 8 or so in age.. then she'll live OK on the 4K to 5K a month you'll pay her fo…

Guys paying 4K a month were making 10K+ a month easy.. and woman wasn't working. If you're planning on stay at home wife/mom.. then yes.. you should prepare.. and save..a LOT of money.. dont spend. Don't buy a house.. too hard to deal with selling it to split it. Even if you give her the house you still owe alimony, etc.. though it can offset what you owe. But regardless of all that.. that you are thinking about money and you first.. tells me (all of us) that you really shouldn't be married. Not…

Man.. the comments.. are brutal. I suspected as much. Here is the thing.. first and foremost you SHOULD have understood what you were getting yourself in to. I'm going to be a dick and say.. you must have been living under a rock.. or you're VERY young (e.g. like 19 or so) and just saw pussy.. so jumped in head first. Sorry to say it so brutal.. but you literally say "She is very obedient". That screams to me that you wanted a woman who basically cooked/cleaned and bent over at your beck and cal…

So some may say.. leave now. I say.. given how much child support usually is.. if you can wait it out, be amicable with wife.. and act more like room mates and not fight in front of girl, etc.. that would be better. Split your accounts if you can.. have a joint account you both contribute to.. that pays for mortgage, food, etc. Then you have your own account to save. In all cases your own account will likely be split with her in divorce.. but you can pull from it prior to pay for lawyer, and oth…

I thought like this too.. however.. in my state it was going to cost me more than 50% of my take home.. for her to live a good life while I barely could get by.. for many years. I realize being free but struggling every day to get by is for some people. For me.. it was not worth it. Most days I could largely ignore/hide/avoid.. That said.. now that I am about to file.. and see what staying in it did to my kids.. if I could go back I would change my thought and just do it. My kids are fucked up b…

Well good on you.. and btw. .thank you for your service. Doctors got it rough these days with all the crap going on, on top of insurance being a major pain in the ass and pharma.. so thank you for being a doctor and helping us. WOW. Holy shit. I read the whole thing. First.... WOW. WTF? 13K of your 18K take home.. and then court ordered 15K total because you paid mortgage. That is so fucking unbelievable to me. I forget now.. are you in a 50/50 state? So this is largely because she didn't work at all? Were you able to impute her ability to work.. at least full time minimum wage and earn about 35K a year doing that? You make about double what I do.. I been married 26 years though. That is interesting.. my wife is 5'3" and about 190.. I am not attracted to her.. but sex still feels good.. I think partly because she has an odd stomach issue where your stomach is huge.. something to do with her muscles didnt go back after our kids the way most do.. so she looks pregnant.. literally gets asked that all the time. I'm confused. You said you filed for separation today.. but you been separated for two months. You moved out two months ago.. live alone.. and just filed? Did you file for separation because you met this girl.. and want it to be on record that you filed before you met up with her in case anything happens? Other advice.. if you somehow end up hooking up.. make sure you are double bagging it.

This is EXACTLY why I tell everyone.. do NOT get married. There is no reason. Even if you want kids.. you don't have to be married. Woman you fell in love with is religious.. well.. you should have figured that out before. There are a shit ton of women today that are not religious.. are fine being independent but in a long term relationship... and/or would be willing to sign a prenup. Think about it. Today we are fostering the idea of women's rights, independence.. and many of us guys support th…

I think you pretty much answered your own concern.. don't get married if she won't sign prenup.. explain to her your fears and what happened (I am sure she knows by now).. and that you just can't go forward without that feeling of safety. I am not sure if you are saying you have millions.. but if you do.. 100000000% prenup. Period. Also. MAKE DAMN SURE that it is not some 50% unfair bullshit. Have a lawyer look it over and then.. especially if you have the money.. have a 2nd lawyer look it over.…

Everyone says this. Yet.. my life IN The house and NOT yet filed is already pretty toxic.. we both yell/scream.. and in a 50/50 state.. that's considered verbal abuse.. grounds for either of us to file a restraining order against the other. I don't have the money to move out (gonna be 5K+.. first/last month.. $2500 a month rent for a 2bedroom place so my kid can stay with me 50% of the time). I can't afford a lawyer either. Yes and no. Yes.. you are right.. but no in that.. if you're two people barely making it separately.. but are "in love" or whatever you deem enough to stay committed to the one person.. then living together means you can each save a little more money.. not paying double for things like rent, electricity, etc. Sure it will go up a little having two people in one place.. but not by double. That gives a bit more cash for each to save, enjoy, etc. There is also the idea of more sex. I know.. it shou…

I see it very similar.. except that.. if I were to move in with another woman.. as long as she can pay half the "combined" bills.. rent, food, utilities, etc.. that's good enough. If I make more.. what is mine is mine. If I choose to share.. i do so.. or not. Same with her. If something goes wrong with home, car, etc.. we communicate and figure out who will help.. how much.. etc. So if our total monthly expenses for home, food, etc is 6K.. we each put in 3K. anything after that goes in our own a…

She's gas lighting you. Most likely house is BOTH yours regardless of name on it. What she CAN do.. is call police and claim you're abusing her (even yelling counts these days).. have you removed (forcibly if you are unwilling to go).. and then you have to find a place to stay. You can do the same. It's a dog eat dog world when it comes to this shit. In divorce likely house is split between you even though you bought it. Marriage asset.

Sadly.. especially after the pandemic.. I suspect that a whopping lot more people are discovering this. Divorce rate is up big time across the board, and world. Plus shit changing. Women have more rights (as they should) and not needing men to rely on as much (as it should be).. internet, social media, politics, religion, money, etc.. all this shit coming in and out of peoples lives changes things.

How are you starting this? Did you file online, or hire a lawyer instead? Seems like hiring a lawyer is the better way to go.. but the cost.. $10K retainer up front.. ugh. $450 an hour.. so like.. 22 hours and I am done.. that's really not much time.. over the course of a month or so.. I suspect a lawyer would put 50+ hours in on a case.. but maybe not? I would live a simple amicable divorce.. but my STBXW says nope.. not a chance.. so here I am basically thinking I need to lawyer up.. but I am …

Solid true.. with one exception.. if the plan was for him to leave.. and she would have the kids.. that is clearly no longer an option. Her trying to hurt herself and saying she will more.. means he now has to be their parent and she can't be in their lives until she gets help. She should be 5150 for sure. But barring that.. what's to say she wont hurt them when he's not around. Not a good thing for them. Hopefully OP will step up and be their father and give them the love and security they need…

Man.. based on what others say here.. you're going to end up owing a lot to her.. hopefully not depending on where you live. I would assume though that the kids will live with you.. if that's the case.. then any alimony you owe may get washed out based on child support she would owe. That would be the best thing I think in your case.. so you can afford to live and take care of kids. Hopefully you would be awarded full custody.

Did she have a job at all? Or she was stay at home and you paid everything? Do you make good money (e.g. 200K+ and mid cost of living area?).. or lower end of income range (e.g. < 120K). I ask mostly to get a rough idea of what you'll end up paying in alimony.. and how it will affect you. How long were you married as well? Also.. kids?

Wait.. WHAT? First of all.. texts could be completely made up shit. How can ANY judge.. or lawyer.. use them? Your wife could have made up shit to her friend.. 7 years ago. How can any court prove just because she texted her friend.. it's true and should be used against you? That seems completely outrageous and damn near like accusing you without proof. So two schools of thought. From what I understand.. alimony came about for situations where you had a stay at home wife/mom.. that hasn't worked.. and doesnt have skills to earn an income to make enough money to live on her own. Why it has become some set duration that the higher income earner must pay a percentage.. based on calculations usually.. so that the other can continue to just work minimally.. is beyond me. That is what I am trying to find out. Can I buy HER shares out at the price I pay for them ($2 a share).. or does she get the "internal" value the company would pay for them (about $7 a share right now). I am unclear about that. IF it is literally she can ONLY get them at the strike price I pay.. I could buy her out and keep her half.. as my own AND get half the house, retirement, etc.. then fine by me.
