I believe she means she photographs adult women who have given birth to children and those that have not. FYI, there are also baby photographers. Young babies are often photographed naked on their own or with their mothers to capture the intimate nature of the maternal bond and for the parents to keep as memories. Not a huge fan of it personally, but it's a common practice and done tastefully.

My partner is not my best friend in the.. friendly sense. He would and should never replace my girl friends that I talk about feminine or girly things with or go to lunch with to chat. In an ideal out-of-lockdown world, I would like to spend a reasonable time with a variety of friends that can bring me certain joys that my partner can't, like an interest in makeup or fashion, or a female friend that is passionate about my studies in the same way I am. I can talk about these things with my partne…

Definitely keep an eye out for seasonal produce to make sure it's at a good price point and tastes good, use your freezer (it degrades the quality a bit, but usually not very much! it's so handy to store things you might not use soon enough otherwise) and know your veggies! The proteins you cook can stay relatively the same if you change up the greens you put with it, seasoning and variety are the key.

Ah. Dragging my personal history into this as a means to discredit my criticism of you or make me feel like I'm not in the right here. My post does make sense, everything I said was correct. You can't confidently say the same, so you are bringing up my parents! Quite a thing my dad would do actually. Wonderful. This isn't about my struggle, you are correct. It's about science and the fact that you wrote a giant post trying to discredit the established scientific consensus. You dragging my person…

I'm really disappointed that this was pinned, first of all. I can see your flair is that of the TRP founder, so while I assume this will go nowhere I'll comment on it regardless. Fasting is not the solution to your weight problems. Your fat won't suddenly disappear from your ass if you starve your body. Weight loss cannot target specific areas of the body. That's idiotic. Prolonged fasting is starvation that will induce the degradation of muscle, and anything else is as unscientific as the logic…

Not OP but: Yes. They (the weird ones) believe being attracted to women is better, or that any partial attraction to men is some sort of "shortcoming" or undervaluing of yourself. They think women are brainwashed, again by men, into being attracted to men. Bisexuals get the worst of it. Sort of like, "if you're capable of being attracted to women, why care about men at all?". It's fucking weird. They act like authorities on sexual attraction.

I don't think you're in violation of it. You are absolutely right; the theory of feminism is great, it worked in the past, and as a woman who wants to return to work after raising my family I'm grateful that we are allowed free opportunity and choice. This subreddit is all about that and our agency as well, so your idea is spot on. But: feminism is no longer in benefit of all women. A lot of people that subscribe to feminism today believe that the essence of it is to force women into positions o…

That's what it is more or less. It's a bit confusing, but basically, RPW is the rare subreddit that's oriented per real life values. Realistically, all the things you say RPW is about are true and make for a really healthy relationship. In an extremely left-leaning internet environment, this doesn't ring well. Per current feminist political and ideological climate, wanting a family in a healthy, traditional relationship is regarded as a threat to society. Women can't like cooking or raising kids…

People have started to identify themselves by their insecurities or shortcomings and then use that to demand compliments, validation and all that because they think that's how to work around the immense insecurities they have. Just to have people convince you instead of doing the work themselves. They think their insecurities define their worth as an individual, which is sad of course. If someone like that were you, they would probably say they are a slouchback and hence slouchy backs have to be…

There's some nice basics courses everywhere. If there's a particular style or culture of cooking you're fond of, start looking for resources on that. Even Reddit has a bunch of dedicated communities that will recommend you certain recipes. The content of Michelin star chefs turned teachers (Gordon Ramsay comes to mind) are always a good help because they usually give advice, use great techniques and flavors adapted to the less skilled home cook but also give you a lot of room to improve. If you'…

Ah, you think therapists "tell" people they're traumatized. You don't know what constitutes clinical trauma, do you? This guy is deeply suicidal and plagued by guilt and shame. It is most likely trauma. Do you know that it feels totally fine to walk the world knowing you sexually abused your sister before you had any idea what you were doing? Also, I was responding to the claim that he couldn't possibly be troubled by it 20 years later and putting it down to 'hormones'. That is misinformed. If t…

"It was wrong, sure, but wrong enough to be troubled by it 20 years later? No. Teenage boys often find their hormones overwhelming their sense." This is terribly misinformed. DO NOT listen to this. DO NOT. Sexual activity between children, siblings no less, is terribly damaging. Studies show that childhood incest is highly correlated with PTSD, will lead to it in an estimated 60% of cases minimum, and will lead to the victim attempting suicide at roughly 55%, not to mention many other mental hea…

Have you thought about having a discrete conversation about it with his parents? If you all have a good relationship they might be able to see some insecurities or anxiety in him that he's too afraid to reveal to you, which would not be uncommon considering you are more financially set than him and you seem to have a traditional relationship. He seems like a great guy, but you're not communicating. They may be able to help, so long as this is not an act of betraying his privacy for him. Make you…

I do agree. However, he's been accused by 6 different women, independently from one another, who in part have evidence that they have been professionally diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorders, which are incredibly hard to 'fake'. Part of their allegations include being threatened with guns to their head, and MM has made public statements about fantasizing about chopping his partner's head off with a sledgehammer. Some of his lyrics say the same. Obviously lyricism is an art form, but th…

Out of all the reasons MeToo has failed as many people as it has helped, this is NOT one of them. One enabling person saying "he is nice because he offered me food" doesn't have the right to shut down multiple people's allegations of terrifying abuse towards anyone. I am all for making sure that allegations are real. But being familiar with clinical PTSD, its diagnostic process and the experience of such feelings, the multiple people alleging these things sound absolutely truthful. Of course not…

Although being able to measure that would be fucking heaven on earth, I don't think so. Maybe initially if we believe so many women to be using their privilege to covertly abuse in their personal lives, but domestic abuse includes all forms; physical, emotional, verbal, financial, sexual. Some of those are more perpetrated by men, some more by women, but it balances out because I believe violence and evil doesn't discriminate. Men emotionally and verbally abuse as well and women abuse physically…

Women only look at male-perpetrated violence because not doing so would force them to acknowledge how awful and violent women are as well. Any type of non-physical harassment is far more likely to come from a woman, but they just pretend like every woman around them is nice and great and amazing until she wears the wrong top or something. Women will complain, bully, shame and humiliate for literally nothing. But they all do it, so they can't admit to it in others, because it would create a ragin…

I think the wall is more like, if you don't take care of yourself and live life with little consideration for the future, then as a woman, you'll get a reality check around 30. Women realize the time to have a family is running out, time to find a good partner to have that family with is running out, and the consequences of a poor diet or bad choices made throughout the 20's will catch up then, physically and mentally. If you took good care of yourself in your 20's you'll smoothly turn 30 and 40…

First of all, I'm not sure where in my reply you got the idea that the symptoms you listed were not 'enough'. Possibly you misunderstood my comment to be directed at you, which it was not. This is a thread about OP. Your assumptions as to my exposure to these things is as wrong as it could be. I think a lack of sensitivity is not synonymous with a post-traumatic stress disorder, and there should be quite a few steps in between that. Do think about your life and what events may have contributed especially, but please be careful to think of it as your first resort. Things do not have to be of traumatic or post-traumatic nature in order to have an impact on your character or emotional life.

You own that! I'm the same way and I think it's really important we accredit our discomfort to what it is, our own, and not "oh maybe I only feel this way because of my boyfriend, let's be empowered and make male best friends :) ". Used to be that way as a teenager and eventually I'd find out the ones I got along with best all ended up being my friends because they had a crush. Never again. My male friends will always be my partner's same-sex ones. They usually know their limits if your man is r…

The 40 year old guy that follows me around after rejecting him and blatantly stares at my tits doesn't need an interpretation. You don't get to dictate my lived experience of blatant discomfort with people invading my personal space because they literally TELL ME THEMSELVES that they feel complimenting me gives them a right to invade it. I recounted experiences of only people that acted deeply inappropriately. If you feel sorry for 40, 50 year old men that hit on and follow around girls that loo…

I'm not telling you what it's like to be you. I'm telling my interpretation of the sliver of yourself you just revealed about yourself. You told me that you read my comment as "when men say it, it's a sexist hate crime" and to go fuck myself. Since none of that is a reasonable follow-up to my comment, it's not that hard to assume that you have a problem with who you assume me to be rather than what I wrote. From a female perspective: You have to ask yourself when or why people say it. If friends or family or whatever say it, it's not much of an issue at all. I wouldn't call it rude then. I feel like you assume it takes place in a different context than it actually does in real life. Being asked to smile or given a compliment is usually not an issue, right. But that's not it. you never used the word vandalism nor is this about any of the other cases you're randomly mentioning. to explain what this is about: this woman was in a longterm relationship with a man who then continued to have an affair he hid from her, and when she found out she threw glitter in his house. it's objectively funny and a well-deserved, although minimal, consequence. then you used the words "abuse", "venomous mockery" and "brutal torturous attack", and also "extreme malignant schadenfreud" to d…

I understand what you mean with the friends vs. society aspect, although I think the difference is not as meaningful as you make it out to be. It's not just friendship bias, it's the morals of a lot of people who simply don't compassionately care for other human beings. If you scale that up to society, a significant part of society will share these beliefs, and then it just depends where you are in that. Society is hard to generalize as it's so diverse too. Also, I understand being angry at 'the…

When it comes to societal standards about infidelity, the genders are surprisingly equal I think. For every woman that is hyped up for ditching her man or "getting what she deserves" or whatever, there's a man being celebrated for not being committed or invested or using multiple girls for sex. Think of college culture for example. Both guys and girls get credit for betraying their partners by same-sex friends in my experience, if they're all shit immature people that is. Of course violence in r…

Exactly! I'm sure most people in child care are lovely and compassionate, but it only takes one bad person to undo ten people's good efforts and harm your child. I've also seen a few too many people in child care that believe in instilling their own values in the child over those of the parents, disrespect the child's autonomy or damage their self worth. My own experience as a child surely contributes as well :(

Definitely. There should always be downtime from taking care of children at home because everyone needs a rest, but if you have no purpose to fill that time with you'll probably become sad. I think having a purpose is much more important to the whole career thing than how much time you actually spend working, you can use your off time to educate yourself and keep up. And if you're not a smart academic type, there are so many practical hobbies that soak up the time like nothing else.

I can empathize. I do really want to work before / after I raise my children, but for the safety of my children I cannot imagine giving them into the hands of near strangers that have control of my kids for more time of the week than I would have them. School yes, daycare no. It scares me.

Are you in America? Even Europe has some level of this "academic" feminism but I can't imagine the hell you guys go through, with high education so deeply politicized. "Waste of a degree" is fucking ridiculous, I'm so sorry. I wonder how much of her degree is used by her work if she has any. Sounds like the classic mindset of women who think giving women less choice is a form of empowerment when she's really just participating in female competition for who can feel superior to the other. A direct quote from her is that she wants give women no choice, it counteracts the essence of what feminism wants to be (although rarely is). It's like saying that you can't shit on Obama's presidency because in spite of the war crimes, he was a nice dude. You can celebrate her achievements and acknowledge her shortcomings for one, and also acknowledge that her perspective isn't universal and is arrogant if presented as such in modern times. Good on you my guy. I'll never understand how they see raising your own children as more demeaning than pawning them off to a different daycare worker every day. Unless you hate your children and are an abusive piece of shit, raising your children is never demeaning. It's humbling, at most. It is normal, albeit very unhealthy for you. I actually had a severely traumatic childhood and upbringing (currently in the diagnostic process for PTSD as well) and had a similar 'dating' history to you. It made me so terribly unhappy even though I thought I was doing the right thing. You're totally right, it depends on the situation and I don't think the mods would take down what you said. There was an influx of comments like this sometimes, they usually they preyed on the natural frustration from marriage/relationship conflicts (that are solvable and might lack perspective for the other person) and thus the rule was made. Nah dude, we are talking about two whole different things. We agree. You're thinking of "what if a guy gets lied to?". Totally valid. Not the story this post was about. All the examples you mentioned don't fall contrary to my point at all because these people are lying, they're deceiving and manipulating young men. Of course it's possible to be mistaken. I'm not saying that mistakes can't happen lol! But I won't agree to justifying a 19 year old "having sex" with a 13 year old and my comment was solely about that. Whether you think 15 year olds should be having sex with each other is a different thing altogether. But 13 to 19, those are different stages and part of why age of consent lies between them. Genitalia and a pretty face isn't synonymous with brain development and barely indicative of it. Sure you have people who look 20 at 16 and the other way around, but the stuff that matters is brain development, which is actually pretty universal across all growing people save for those with disorders of development. Surely some people hit puberty earlier, but that's the release of hormones. Not much more than that. A 11 year old that has started puberty won't be more psychologically equipped for…

Alright, I'm afraid I won't talk about this any further. This is delving into sexualizing children and I'm not about it, safe sex might be a condom but not regardless of age. I'm sure your own experiences shaped your perspective. All I can say is no, it's not normal to lose your virginity to an adult nor is it normal to be catcalled from 12. But personally, I must say it's rather unrealistic to not know the age of the girl you're having sex with. Just out of curiousity, why do you say luckily? A 13-year old isn't able to consent and she'll face the consequences in her development. Kids that make sexual experiences this early are shaped by them ya know, and not in a good way. Seems like your friends have a track record of not asking girls for their age as long as they're attractive and look pubescent. I don't know why you feel personally spoken to here, but to clarify: of course you're not guilty for being abused. I never alleged Depp was abusive or guilty. I was referring to the commenter's mention of innocence or contributions to a relationship, and that Johnny Depp wasn't healthy to begin with. No it's more like- there's a normal for relationships, a healthy standard if you will. Amber was an abusive cunt, Johnny Depp used to be an alcoholic (giving him the benefit of the doubt, he might still be), they're both actors in Hollywood which is like a +50 degenerate bonus anyway. They're both not healthy or normal. Amber is guilty and Johnny isn't guilty for reacting to abuse, but that doesn't mean he was healthy to begin with. Amber took advantage of that too.

Don't put words nor ideas in my mouth. I am heartbroken for the victims. My loved ones, men, have almost fallen victim to tragedies like these. I have feared for their lives. Do you think I am on this subreddit to be a feminist? Why do you think that, if? My very intention is to not use the same argumentative practices as feminism. It's the top comment on the thread, and it's the exact comment the original commenter in this thread was so upset about for "comparing" her "breakup" to child molestation, being made out to be a "feminist know-it-all who did it to herself" by the person here. I agree with everything you say! But as a fellow woman, I've encountered some people on here recently, specifically in the last 24 hours, that have been very cruel to or in the face of people who state they have experienced rape. A lot of people are very distrustful and tend to push their biases too far in this regard even when unwarranted. Please be careful.
/r/MensRights09/12/20 06:01 PM

She literally said she was raped. She literally clarified she was raped by someone she trusted. Before any breakup happened. The word "rape" was not related to the relationship or breakup, she was RAPED while she was in the relationship with the person she trusted, which then left her traumatized. Yes, she did. How can you not know if you read the comment? 1) Of course it's a problem, however it's not reason to question what happened to a random stranger on the internet whose experience you felt didn't compare enough to that of a man 2) She said that she was raped and offered graphic details. She isn't accusing anyone, this isn't a metoo case. She is on a subreddit offering empathy based on her own experience. Many people seem to conflate thinking "I think her comment was uncalled for bec…

It's harm prevention and common practice in environments like this. Believe it or not, but the statistics show quite clearly that overt discussion of self harm in places like that encourage it more than it helps people. Why are you immediately assuming she consented to every sexual activity her then-partner ever engaged in merely because she was over 16? Can someone not be raped by their partner if they are over the age of consent? Can someone not be raped by their partner? She clarified this, she consented to the relationship she was in and believed he loved her, but he then took advantage of her sexually. She even offered details to the person commenting. Can you compare the two? No. But what is the subreddit for? Depression. What are the consequences of such events? Shame, self-hatred, post-traumatic stress and trauma, dissociation, avoidance, addiction, numbness. The experience itself is as different as two rapes can be, but many ways in which they impact the individual + the steps they need to take to heal are very similar. Not just this, but both of these things often occur together- a person that was sexually, or in other ways, abused in chi…

Wholeheartedly agreed. I think a 32 year old woman that chooses to engage in sexual activity with someone who is maximum 16 HAS to be held responsible for the damage done to the boy's mental and psychological health no matter whether she thought the boy was of consenting age or not. This is the risk you take when you have sex with people half your age, one that she was gleefully willing to accept in the moment. Someone has to be held responsible, and with 18 years between them it's sure as fuck …

I agree wholeheartedly! It is putting your money on the line after all. My point was not that it's free of risks; rather that if his interest was driven by doing stuff with money, there would be ways to shift what he's doing into a safer, slightly more responsible environment if he cared to do so.

Highly unlikely. BPD is almost always a result of traumatic abuse or neglect in childhood, or at least correlates with it very highly (80-90%). You can think of it a bit like a developmental disorder.

You don't have a lot of experience with relationships of people who have been through neglect or abuse, do you? Not feeling in love with a partner is a common symptom that trauma hasn't been duly processed because love feels too unsafe to be a certainty in the traumatized mind. I think couple's therapy is most effective when both people are not in the right mind, mentally ill or unwell or seriously bad communicators. It doesn't depend so much on the issue, big or small. You need to keep in mind that posts come from a one-sided perspective and actual abuse is different from perceived abuse. I don't mean to sound jaded, but people grossly overestimate the accuracy of their own perception, especially in young, insecure people. Well, it does say building it with 'a great man'. Before you advocate someone to leave their partner, you might as well ask if he's great or not first. By no means we should encourage people stay with abusive or unsuitable partners, but especially young people are bad at self reflecting on these things. What someone perceives to be controlling or abusive may just be a projected insecurity. A lot of our partner's perceived flaws or issues really need perspective- there's so many people that leave…

A lot of the people you'll find posting about it online will be men who are jaded or hurt and projecting these feelings on the general population of women much like their feminist counterpart does, which is not a great representative. This has nothing to do with my argument? How do you have the audacity to assume I gender whose experience of sexual assault I believe? Or based on who raped them? Please don't do that. I believe both genders rape and that the statistical difference in gender of a perpetrator is probably negligible. What I'm saying is that a woman is likely raped by a man and a man is likely raped by a woman. Simply because of sexual orientation. Please understand my point before you reply.
/r/MensRights02/08/20 07:26 PM

Again, sexual assaults are (almost) always motivated by sexual desire. Way more people are straight than are gay. I think it's around 95% to 5%. If we are talking about the general population everywhere, a man will be more likely to rape a woman. Not because of their gender but simply because of their sexual orientation.
/r/MensRights02/08/20 06:16 PM

Well, if we're talking about rape- the person would likely want to be sexually attracted to the person, right? Fact is that any person who wants to sexually harass a woman would be a straight man or a gay woman. Way more people are straight than are gay. So even if women and men rape at the same rate, a man would still be more likely to in that scenario. Is that a sexist observation? Or something? Good god the "straight women" one got me. There's been a weird trend of forcing LGBTQ context on non-LGBTQ stuff. My experience must've been a different one then, usually narcissistic traits are associated with men over females, so also seen and therefore exaggerated in them a lot more than in women. Yes, I agree. There's a difference in saying that someone is exhibiting narcissistic behaviors vs. calling people "Narcs" and indicating the disorder, but OP did the latter. If people want to take trauma and its perpetrators seriously, then the differentiation is important. I think a lot of people, or women here, aren't treated 100% due to incompatibility or unacknowledged faults of their own (potentially due to narcissistic characterists, which aren't inherently abusive or "bad"), but then labe…
