I'm saying that, given further rounds, men might also help as much as women.

No, because different genetics imply different environments, so the difference would be due to no tests being completely exact.

Before you say that IQ doesn't mean anything, it does. But just like any other measure of capacities we have, it depends on more than just genes.

The Jewish religion should not be legal if it can't exist without circumcision.

I would argue that IQ tests do tell one something about intelligence, but that they, like all other tests, do not exclusively measure inherent ability, but also gained ability.

with atheism's belief that ALL religions are simply not true Technically, atheism is even "weaker" than that: it's the lack of a belief in a god.

If they want to get MRA opinions, they would post here. [...] Well, in their rules they say: Respect: No hatred, bigotry, assholery, utter idiocy, misogyny, misandry, transphobia, homophobia, or otherwise disrespectful commentary. Please follow (second emphasis added) Usually, non-MR-lite places don't have that rule.

The wage gap still exists. It is, as PolitiFact states, not as dramatic as this statistic would seem to indicate, but it exists nonetheless. Last I checked, it was about 2%.

The definition of patriarchy entails suppressing women while enabling men. "Patriarchy" isn't nearly that clearly defined, which is part of what makes it unfalsifiable. The definitions I've heard include "a system which values masculinity more than femininity", "a system where men control a majority of powerful positions", literally "our current system" and much more.

It kinda does. It's easier to explain away why men are MRAs than women.

Also, some people reduce sexism to this: There are two groups of children, and they both get some chocolate. However, one group gets more chocolate than the other group, so children from both groups say it's unfair. In the end, the people giving children chocolate begin slowly increasing the amount of chocolate the second group gets. The second group hasn't been given as much chocolate as the first group yet, but now children from the first group see that the second group is getting more chocola…

Forced sharing is only stealing if you already own what you now have to share. That is kinda the case with marriage/divorce, but not with communism (except for when the communist system is being created).
/r/MensRights01/05/12 11:10 PM
1

I'm not saying it's great, but I do believe that it should at least be judged by what it is, and not some straw-man. The thing is that communism isn't about stealing, it's about sharing. You don't own stuff in the first place in a communist system, so nobody is stealing anything from you. I don't personally believe that it's possible to implement, but that is a completely different subject.

It's not about arbitrary redistribution of wealth and income, and not to the point where a group that doesn't inherently get more wealth gets singled out as the group to take wealth from.

I fail to see how that's like communism.

No. If we want to be taken seriously fast, we need to start banning accounts that are clearly misogynistic, but is that what we want? Do we want to ban people from expressing their opinions, when we already have a voting system to take care of it, and the movement is growing anyway? Do we want to set this precedent?

Great, when CNN starts practicing "convincing other people" pacifism (as it were) I'll be sure to advocate likewise. Until then, your idea seems wildly unrealistic and a recipe for failure. I think you missed this: Good job at understanding context, btw. Anyway: Regardless, what you're against is in no way a violation of anyone's rights to free speech. Well, it's not a violation of the laws definition of rights to free speech, but I can be a jerk and still follow the law.

Okay, you know what, I'll try explaining the more complex part. What I am against is some relatively powerful entity trying to pressure some other entity into saying something. A random forum member (like me) is not a powerful entity, so I'm not really able to pressure you into doing anything, and I have to try and convince you intellectually. A more powerful entity, like a forum, could send so many messages to CNN that it would leave an impression that it's dangerous for CNN as a company to hav…

No. What is different is that I don't say it's unacceptable, I say that I prefer to let people write their opinions in places that are made for opinions. When OP is saying that it's unacceptable, he seems to be saying that it's not allowed, and I disagree.
/r/MensRights23/04/12 06:39 PM
-2

Ah, the complexity of my version of freedom of speech... Anyway, as I just said, it's a bit complex, but there's a big difference IMO: Seriously I hope all 35,000 of us write to CNN and tell them this is unacceptable. vs. I prefer to let people write their opinions in places that are for writing opinions. That is, I don't say it's unacceptable, and I acknowledge that people may disagree with the opinion on the matter.
/r/MensRights23/04/12 06:25 PM

Sure it depends on the philosophy, which is why I (hopefully) made it clear that I wasn't being 'objective'.
/r/MensRights23/04/12 04:57 PM

/r/MensRights23/04/12 03:13 PM

I agree, but I think it's counter-productive to do what OP asked for.
/r/MensRights23/04/12 03:11 PM
-9

Yeah, and I think that's wrong.
/r/MensRights23/04/12 03:07 PM
-5

Sure, freedom of speech has consequences, but unless I'm mistaken, you are asking us to ask CNN to remove that article when you say Seriously I hope all 35,000 of us write to CNN to tell them this is unacceptable.
/r/MensRights23/04/12 02:38 PM
-6

Sure, but I think it's wrong that it would get that.
/r/MensRights23/04/12 02:36 PM
-13

Opinion I prefer to let people write their opinions in places that are for writing opinions. Trying to stop people from expressing their opinion is, IMO, trying to stop freedom of speech. Writing to CNN about it is, IMO, as bad as doing the equivalent with people who are not PC, which, IMO, is bad.
/r/MensRights23/04/12 01:04 PM

/r/MensRights18/04/12 01:19 PM

Yeah, because that's totally a constructive way to show people how they are mistaken.
/r/MensRights18/04/12 09:48 AM

What I meant is that the MRM doesn't have any theory of why the world discriminates against men (see Patriarchy "Theory"), instead it focuses on the issues men face, and how to fix them.
/r/MensRights15/04/12 02:33 PM
1

So? What is the ideology of the MRM?
/r/MensRights15/04/12 09:20 AM

The biggest difference is that feminism is an ideology-based movement, while the MRM is issues-based.
/r/MensRights14/04/12 11:58 AM

Feminists often claim that they are trying to help both genders. It's common consensus in /r/MensRights that there are many groups already who a trying to fix the (few?) issues women have, but that nearly no groups try to fix the issues men have.

Also, why wasn't this used as defense? As a three-year-old, Patrick S. was removed from his family and sent to a children's home after having been sexually assaulted by his father. He was adopted by a foster family at the age of seven. He only re-established contact with his biological family at the age of 24 -- and met his sister Susan K., eight years his junior, for the first time. Until that point, he was unaware that he had a sibling.

It doesn't flow when speaking, like why you in English say "an elephant"instead of "a elephant". I guess a Swede knows this better than a Dane, but that's just the pronunciation, which could be changed without destroying the idea. Besides, if gender distinctions are pointless, why try to eliminate them? As far as I've seen this practice doesn't allow those who Wish to be referred to as a man/ woman to be so - which is wrong - if there was a choice I wouldn't care Which is why I made it clear tha…

Denmark is currently the happiest nation in the world, and we have an egalitarian leftist government.
/r/MensRights08/04/12 09:56 PM

Fun fact: I live in Denmark, a very 'leftish' country (compared to the USA). While many MRA's claim that all of Scandinavia is infected with Feminism, I don't see it as much as they claim. Your questions are extreme enough that many people can see a reason to reject them. It can help if you add things like 'in general'. It could be worse. I think USA has it worse. For example, this is from the website of The Social Democrats: Regeringen vil øremærke op til tre måneder af den betalte barselsperiode til manden. or The government will give three months of 'maternity leave' for men. Edit: and The Social Democrats are not considered radical.

My main idea of how it'll work is this: People join my sub because they agree that men face discrimination. They find out how much discrimination men face. They join the main sub.

I don't want to stop the MRM. I don't even know where you got that from. I want to make it more open to people who are easily offended.

Maybe we shouldn't assume anything until we've seen it?

Those who want Reddit to know how big of a problem it is. Sure, some know it's a problem, but not how big it is, which is why they won't ignore the few sexist and dangerous comments.

Sure, they usually get downvoted (like this), but that doesn't make them disappear.

I don't say that it's a haven for hate speech, I say that it has some hate speech that a lot of people on reddit get very offended by. Unfortunately I can't change those people, but I can provide a place where they can discuss misandry too.

TIL. Well, the point isn't to divide, it's to promote unbiased discussion (no upvotes/downvotes) with moderation against the things that aren't relevant and hatespeech.

Not always. There are some examples of aggressive behavior. This is probably just people venting, but /r/MensRights has a strict policy against too much moderation.

I haven't been on /r/MensRights for long, yet I remember that I've posted many answers to AnnArchist's comments in defense of women.

I would hope so. I've hidden them too, so there's a smaller probability that they'll bother downvoting.

Not always. The atmosphere in here is sometimes a bit misogynistic. One example is many of the posts by AnnArchist.

I don't think that there's anything wrong with it, but other parts of reddit does, even thought they agree that men have their share of discrimination.
/r/MensRights22/12/11 03:01 PM

Can you change it from "somewhat oppressed" to something else? That wording is sort of belittling. Maybe "agree that men have their share of discrimination" Sorry, English isn't my native language and I was looking for a word. Also can we have posts that are constructive in changing things for men, instead of just post after post of stories about men being discriminated against, those just make me angry and don't help much. That was also part of the point.

Solution: You can withhold sex too, but you probably have to stop doing it before she sues.
/r/MensRights15/12/11 02:27 PM

Wow. If my interpretation of your post is correct (that a lot of the problems USA is experiencing is because of circumcision), we really need to investigate the effects more. It would be easy to globally outlaw circumcision if we get enough evidence of that claim.

Can someone explain why people don't ask the prostitutes and learn something about it? The ignorance about it everywhere is surprising. Why do people even talk about prostitution when they haven't even spoken with a real prostitute? Here's a 'secret' that a prostitute told me: prostitution is not about sex. /rage

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
