1	Sex is a need. I think what they mean is that evolution causes our bodies to think we need to have sex to ensure species survival. Just because we're capable of knowing that intellectually doesn't mean our bodies have caught up. If you get a papercut, you can understand that it's benign, but your body doesn't stop feeling pain because it's designed to alert you to the injury, even if your brain knows the injury isn't a danger to you. 1	Sex is a need. I think the existence of asexual people eliminates the argument that sex is a human need. We could, in theory, view them as outliers, but I don't think that's right. Furthermore, you say in the post that people desire the intimacy and feelings of being wanted that come with sex. So inherently, sex isn't the need. Those feelings are the needs.
