They shouldn't be expected to be the only ones that provide unless pre-decided between the couple but you have conveniently completely glossed over my counter-arguments. When you start a family, you make a conscious decision to raise another life. There are a host of responsibilities that come with that that extend well beyond financially. Your partner cannot take all of that responsibility. You're asking for too much from them if you are. You have to bear your burden of that partnership and tha…

Look, she's wrong to bring a family matter into the public. It's very immature and just shows she hasn't really grown up. But I'm not gonna just nod my head and say the guy has been in the right when he spent so much time away from his family that he was barely a father. For a lot of people, it's very difficult to provide and be a present father but Hammond had the choice and chose not to be around. I feel little sympathy for people who start families and then choose not to be with them when the…

It is true. This group is conservative by nature but I'd argue that's also because there are far more non US members now, myself included, than before as indicated by the Indian man's case recently going around. In any case, most posts on any sub are trash or over the top. Still plenty of good people here not looking to play politics but focused on advocacy and supporting others. I stay for those people.

Just got into it in a BORU sub where a woman rejected a guy struggling with social cues imo harshly even though the dude really didn't do anything wrong. Some commenters were nice and made some solid counter points to change my mindset but most just started attacking me, saying "women aren't anyone's property" and just generally being hostile despite my never saying or implying that they were. Just rubbed me the wrong way. I come to Reddit to view something interesting or occasionally have decen…

Eh, I think freedom of speech dictates all such communities should be allowed anyway. You just push back against it in your own way. Reddit mod team is awful though

It can be for someone who's really committed to do it. Military training is some of the hardest physical work you can do. It's super intense and not everyone is cut out for it. OP, depending on the country, it can not only be a rewarding profession but also help you get out of your current situation. But take time to understand whether you are cut out for that life. Fear is natural and every job comes with difficulty. Make the choice for if this career is truly something you can commit to.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Treat everyone with the respect you expect should be given to you. If someone has some choice words for my gender, I'll politely tell them to stop. If they continue to do it, I stop meeting them. I don't need that kind of energy in my life and they just lost someone who was/had potential to be a really good friend. It's happened before. Sad thing is those people still don't know what they've done wrong but that's what happens. You don't have to yell at peopl…

Happy to help. While I don't interact with this sub a lot, I found it purely on the basis of the amount of posts I saw on other platforms about how supportive people are here, whether that's to do with just listening or offering advice. So if you have troubles, there are lots of good people who will genuinely listen.

This could've been such a wholesome post if the title was, "How can I encourage the quieter kids in my class to be less afraid to speak up, even when they're wrong?" But no. Society these days is out of control. Confidence in boys is bad. Confidence in girls is good. Do these people have any idea what damage they could do to these young kids? Yikes.

Everyone else has given good advice. Mine is more of the same. Don't think about relationships or trust. Focus on finding your center again and enjoying your day to day life. After some time has passed, you might find the spark to try again. Even if you don't, as long as you enjoy the quality of your own life, that's what really matters. I'm so sorry this happened to you. Hang in there, brother.

It's already happening. That's why there's a counter offensive narrative going around now talking about single guys being losers and non manly

Too right. A buddy of mine wasn't interested in a colleague who was interested in him. She tried pursuing him for a few months. In the last month, he started documenting their interactions in case there was ever any accusation and surprise surprise, after her failed attempts, she lodged a harassment case with HR. He had the proof and experience with the company with no prior issues and they concluded the investigation in his favor but gist of it is, stay safe people. It's a scary world.

I've grown up in a third world country with a lot of awful men. Awful people tbf but as I'm a guy, I'll speak about the guys in relation to this post. The ones that want to do better in every household are given glowing examples of ancestors who were the strong silent types so we've pretty much learned since childhood that in order to be a man, you keep your grief and your emotions to yourself and you just handle it. I try to be open with my closest friends but I've found only guys understand th…

Or not look to date men at all? I find it difficult to comprehend how some women can say "All men are monsters" and then date/marry men! And why would the guys in those situations want to date women who have this belief?

Honestly, if you're seeing the same three things in all of your female friends, you're likely hanging out with the wrong crowd. I used to do this many years ago and found I gravitated towards being friends with people with whom I had absolutely nothing in common but wasn't quick enough to pick that up straight away. I finally reflected years later and lo and behold, found myself a great mixed group of friends who are loyal and kind. You just gotta analyze the common patterns in these bad friends…
