This EXACT situation happened to me (except we weren’t married, just hooked up a few times). She said, i don’t really feel like having sex tonight, I said that’s fine but kept kissing her/feeling her up, she got turned on and said, out loud, with words ‘ok actually lets do it’ and we had sex. Guess what happened a couple weeks later. ‘I didn’t think so at the time but after talking about it with a friend I realized you manipulated me into having sex with you.’ A lot of women are just flat out cr…

I would just like to offer the counterpoint that women will also often say yes or just quietly acquiesce without saying no or putting up any resistance and then say something like ‘i was manipulated’ or ‘i wasn’t as into it as i seemed to be’ after the fact. There’s literally no way to win. You can ignore women when they say no without consequences half the time, and only go ahead when they say yes and still be accused of being a pseudo-rapist after the fact. It’s extremely frustrating and it ma…

Did you read my post? What utility was I providing her? Is being a good conversationalist and someone she felt safe and comfortable around a ‘utility’?

Yeah, I’ve been there. It is weird, and the girl I’m talking about couldn’t handle it. She said it made her feel ‘anxious’. I liked her too. Too bad.

Yeah it’s tough. Though a big difference from you is that I’m pretty terrible with women, and she was the first girl I had been with (seriously, I mean; I think there were a couple ONS through tinder that I barely remember) in like, possibly a year or more, so I was really invested in wanting to make it work. I was seriously broken up after that, and it’s all I can do to keep myself from ‘orbiting’ her to this day.

Not really. She kinda broke my heart, to be honest. This post was mainly about pointing to possible exceptions to TRP’s very universalizing assertions. I can’t say anything about statistics or general effectiveness of rp vs bp, since i’m just one person. But I can say very possibly NAWALT based on that experience.

every LTR is based on one person deliberately settling for someone who they know couldn’t do any better, while reserving the possibility of leaving for someone better themselves?

Well, maybe. But there were times when it really seemed like she was attracted to me. I first made a move on her (tried to kiss her) when we were lying in my bed after getting back from a party. She stopped me, seemed really embarrassed, and immediately got up to leave. When I tried to apologize she said something like ‘don’t, we were both thinking it’. Then she sat down on my bed and said something like, ‘well, maybe just to see how it feels?’ and we started making out. Then she stopped, said ‘…

Not really. I don’t see ever being asked straight up ‘how many different people have you slept with.’ It’d be more like, ‘tell me about your past relationships.’ If she, for whatever reason, asked explicitly, I would think that’s weird but maybe answer vaguely that at one point in my life i’d occasionally sleep with ppl early on in the hopes of a relationship but it wouldn’t pan out.

I don’t have very high standards for women. Well, I have to find them attractive, but my standards are atypical and I’m definitely not going for instagram models. I’m not going to drop them just so I can get laid. The one and only time I did that I felt both gross and like a massive asshole.

What’s it mean to ‘try’, exactly? Most women don’t find me attractive. So, what should I try? Should I devote my time to the endless process of ‘self improvement’ (whatever that means—lifting weights?) until maybe they suddenly do? Should I ask out every attractive woman I see, despite being able to predict with very high accuracy that the answer will almost always be ‘no’? Should I spend all my free time at clubs and bars, some of the few places where it is socially acceptable to approach women…

Why was it awkward? Did you keep your relationship on the down-low?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/04/19 01:52 AM

I work in a pretty male dominated place, the few women are taken, and all the single guys are into the only single girl, who was recently hired. I somehow beat them all to the punch and we kept our thing totally secret because we didn’t want to cause hard feelings or awkwardness at work or change the dynamic. We were also breaking a rule against ‘unsanctioned’ relationships, and I was technically in a supervisory role to her. Anyway, things didn’t work out, and it was incredibly awkward for me f…

Seems to be a quite unbalanced relationship. What would it mean for her to ‘walk away’? Go back to being homeless? Anyway, my instinct is to disapprove, but I don’t know anything about your relationship. I hope you can make it work. If you really are fond of each other and putting in work to make each other happy, it really isn’t my place to criticize. I personally think that relationships don’t have to be perfectly balanced, and that, for example, an employee marrying her boss doesn’t have to b…

This is kind of fucked up. How do you know she couldn’t do better? Unless you’re an extremely high status guy, I feel like she’d have to be pretty mediocre for you to conclude that. Not to mention that this kind of thinking is pretty central to the classic ‘abusive relationship’ model.

N count doesn’t say very much. I have an above-average n count and i barely ever get laid. 2-3 tinder hookups a year over 5 years gets you a ‘respectable’ number while you can still be a total spaz and loser. Other hand, a very cool guy who met someone great in college and stuck with them could have a pretty low n-count and be pretty awesome.

Same. I’d only mention the actual relationships. She doesn’t need to know about shitty tinder hookups that didn’t go anywhere. It’s not my fault the women I’ve been with tend to be so flaky.

I think answering these questions would hurt my argument, even though they aren’t at all relevant. My post is about initial attraction. Just because the attraction faded quickly, which could have happened for any number of reasons, doesn’t mean it wasn't real to start with. I’ll just say that it wasn’t really a proper ‘relationship’. It was unofficial and secret due to our work situation. We’d spend a lot of time together, go on dates, make out, and she slept over a lot. She started having secon…

She always said she was bi. I’m not sure if she really is a lesbian, but when I pathetically tried to win her back and told her I was still into her she replied ‘But I like girls’. Probably just trying to let me down gently. If that’s all the red pill said, here are a bunch of general observations and techniques to help your odds, I don’t think it would be that controversial. But there’s a definite undercurrent of AWALT, any exception is just beta bucks or settling, and if an alpha Chad came alo…

Honestly, all it would take for me to go full red pill would be to see her show up somewhere with a super masculine alpha guy. That would be very demoralizing. It’s bad enough that she went lesbian, but that’s still not enough to break my confidence in NAWALT.

This is sad. Well, I can at least say that sex should be expected in shiny, new relationships between young people.

I find it suspicious too, but probably for different reasons than you. You can find the plot on this site, as well as someone reasoning similarly to you ie guys don’t know how to present themselves: https://graphpaperdiaries.com/2018/10/21/judging-attractiveness/ I’ve never bothered to look at the male OKC profiles. I’d be surprised if they were really that bad. But yes, that is a valid interpretation of the data. Personally, I don’t really see much of a difference between ‘women are picky’ and …

That’s fine but you made a statement specifically about women’s vs men’s standards for physical attractiveness. The OKC study I’m referring to was just looking at how men and women rated the physical attractiveness of the opposite sex based on photos. The results were as I said. Unless the men on OKC are objectively terrible looking, and the average OKC guy is well below average in looks (which can maybe be argued, I’m not sure either way), then we can at least say that the women on OKC have hig…

I’ve personally only had one case of ‘sex with a friend’ not totally wreck a friendship, and that was the case where we weren’t that close as friends anyway and were both pretty apathetic about the whole thing. In every other case one of us caught feelings (usually me) and didn’t want to accept when it was over.

Ha, honestly, I feel like I’m the one who keeps getting pumped and dumped. But apparently that can’t happen to guys.

No way. My n-count is 9 and I consider myself very inexperienced. I’m in my mid-20s. N-count doesn’t really say very much. Someone with an n-count of 10 could have potentially only had sex 10 times in their lifetime (which isn’t exactly my situation, but is somewhat close—no LTRs with steady sex). I’ve gone years without having sex. Why should this count against me, just because I’ve been unlucky with partners?

I felt like I had something like this at one point. You can read my recent post in this subreddit for more details. We had a really great and fun friendship and work relationship and the first few weeks after we crossed into something romantic were, for me, probably the best and most fulfilled I’ve felt in a romantic relationship. This is probably due to my own short-comings and lack of relationship experience, but she lost interest very quickly and even after I got the ‘lets just be friends tal…

Which assertions do I believe? I’m going along with their language, but I don’t think that says a lot about what I actually believe.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/19 04:58 AM
1

This is a good answer, overall. I definitely got lucky, but that doesn’t really take away from the fact that this mode of attraction is actually possible. I’ll note that this girl is about as far from having anxiety or self-esteem issues as is possible, I think. In fact, that’s what I liked about her—she was very outgoing, popular and good with people, and ‘had her shit together’. But I’m not surprised that you jumped to that kind of assumption. It seems like red pillers really do have an AWALT …

it’s kind of circular reasoning to define ‘masculine’ as ‘traits that women find attractive in men’ and to then turn around and say, prove to me that women aren’t attracted to masculine traits
/r/PurplePillDebate15/04/19 11:50 PM

I’m using red pill terminology because I find it useful and descriptive. They have a lot of shorthand that I think comes in handy when describing situations like this. I’m also curious on what their take is, so I’m ‘speaking their language’. In terms of my behavior, I think I am very blue pilled. I fall for women who show interest pretty easily and am quick to try and prove my worth by being very nice and available. I don’t tend to believe most of the worst RP assertions about the nature of wome…

I think the OKC data bears this out pretty well. The ‘attractiveness’ curves for men and women are pretty radically different—men judged women along a normal curve, with most being average and a few being very attractive/very unattractive. Women judged most to be unattractive to very unattractive with few average and close to none very attractive. You can argue that women still replied to people judged unattractive or average, but considering they ranked 90% of guys that way, that’s hardly surpr…

this has historically been a problem for me lol. i think she’s the 4th girl who either went full on lesbian or started dating a girl after breaking things off with me. not sure what’s going on there.

Well, I don’t know. I’ll admit that I fell for her pretty hard and, if she wanted, I would probably be willing to ‘give’ an awful lot. All considered, apart from one time I gave her a ride and the bad feelings I had when she ghosted me, I don’t think I lost out on much. And it was a nice feeling to have someone admit to being attracted to the ‘genuine’ person I was, without having to try very hard. On the other hand, she got bored pretty quickly, and it’s pretty clear that most women aren’t part…

Well, she did start hanging out with me a lot and eventually ended up in my bed. That’s when I made pretty much the only non-blue pilled thing in our relationship, which was to make a move. She actually rejected me at first, but then changed her mind a few minutes later. And things went from there until she decided to end things. So I think she was attracted to me, although I ended up getting friendzoned afterwards.

Well, it’s not like all the casual sex and ONS red pillers advertise are lasting relationships either. I just feel like TRP has zero explanation for this kind of initial attraction aside from AF/BB which doesn’t apply here. The closest I can think if would be that I got so deep into the friendzone that she started letting me have sex with her so she wouldn’t lose me as a orbiter, but that seems little crazy.

I’ve edited my post to add that, yes we had sex.’ It’s kind of weird that I have to say it outright, since what kind of (romantic) relationship doesn’t have sex?

What’s the definition of n-count? Just the number of people you’ve slept with? I am a mid 20s guy and my n count is 9, but they were mostly ONS or very STR. I’ve never had a real LTR that lasted more than around a month, so I would still consider myself to be pretty sexually inexperienced. I can imagine someone having a significantly lower n count and still being a lot more experienced than me. I’m curious why this number is that important.

Do you have an interest in artsy/hipster music, film, literature, art, etc? Or even artsy/hipster adjacent stuff (which overlaps somewhat with academic things like history and philosophy or certain political theories)? I tend to get along with these types because I like experimental or indie music and modern art and artsy film. Fashion might play a role, though I’ve never been particularly good at that. My glasses are pretty stylish, tho.

Lol, that black guy kinda looks like me. I’ll defend myself by saying that, even though I’m not the most successful with women, I haven’t let my standards drop that low yet. All the girls I’ve been with have been thin, and fair-to-good looking artsy hipsters or sjw types who do yoga or play the harp. Then again, I have hair and am pretty tall.

I think you’re missing a category there. Lets see. Live in a nonwestern society. Live in a western society but were raised elsewhere. I don’t know, I can’t put my finger on it, but I feel like there might be another possibility. Then again, I’m a huge fucking idiot, so what do I know.

Nah, he’s saying he ‘reined in’ his instinct to either treat women well or be too nice and caring, and that helped him fuck women without consequence or without them catching feelings and messing things up for him. Then he decided he was bored with just fucking and stopped ‘reining in’ those instincts.

I’m average looks, ethnic minority, don’t have much of a social life, and have very high brow, obscure, or, less charitably, pretentious media interests. I don’t have very much in common with most people, even when they are similarly educated, and don’t have the social skills or ‘coolness factor’ to fit into any particular social scene that might share some of my interests. This is a hilarious reply. What kind of world would you have to live in to conflate depth of character with theoretical physics? Honestly, you and your friend sound incredibly shallow, boring, and uneducated. You’re obsessed with all of the affectations of ‘class’ without any of the culture. You aren’t better than anyone because you drink different alcoholic beverages. Read a fucking book.

alright, you still didn’t understand. which is pretty amazing, to be honest. no one said they were opposite. question: is it possible to contrast the color gray against the color black? if so, does that mean they are opposites? edit: because you are dumb. analogy table: white - monogamy gray - hypergamy black - polygamy

black and grey are not dichotomous concepts. black and white are. edit: because i think you’re actually too dumb to understand my analogy, i’ll state my point outright: it is possible for two categories to differ without them being polar opposites.

it’s not hard to understand. hypergamy is a subset of monogamy. all hypergamy is monogamy, not all monogamy is hypergamy. i don’t even believe that’s necessarily the right definition, i just hate when people can’t follow simple logic.

Lol, practically everyone works out these days. I don’t think it takes a huge amount of discipline unless you’re a serious body builder of weightlifter. Kids in middle school work out in gym class. I can see that you’d fill out your clothing more. I personally never thought that was a big deal, but that might be just because I’m a guy and don’t pay attention to stuff like that. I may be projecting what I like about women—pretty face, not fat. A shapely body is nice but won’t make the difference between an unattractive and an attractive woman, generally. Not in my opinion anyway. I’ve typically had trouble sleeping with women (period) but also more than once or twice before they move on. I …

I’m thinking back on all the people I know and I literally can’t even remember if they are very fit or not. I remember the fat people, but everyone else is just sort of ‘normal’. Only exception is one guy who was a big bodybuilder type, and that’s just because I’ve seen him without his shirt off a lot, and pictures he’s posted. Is it so different for women?
