Bang on - all of it. I think there's no end to the rabbit hole, really. Cults work in such a way that people can buy into it for an indefinite period of time (an entire lifetime in many cases). I was watching a doco about serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer the other day. The things he did to his victims are, in my view and society's view, about the worst things you can do to a person. These are things he did again and again and again, until he was caught. The doco showed a photo of his old apartment, …

You just took a huge amount of time and effort to write something that hasn't a shred of insight. Not that long. Some people are good verbal ramblers, or merely quick typists. But does it matter how long, really? And you mean it hasn't provided you with a shred of insight. As an aside, it's good to remember that comments on reddit are comments that are made publicly. When people forget this it might appear that two people debating something (like now) are talking exclusively to each other, for t…

Nah, /u/madscientistlove is right. You bitched, like many angry older married "Red Pill" guys do, in a very MGTOW-esque "women are gross" way when discussing sex. You talked about sex being the act of doing it in the dark and the guy not having to look at the woman's body, at least, blah blah. You basically whinged about barely having sex and even then just getting disgusting scraps, etc etc... your standard Lewiscross kind of stuff I see other RPers doing, though usually to a less hate-filled e…

I think you are entirely spot-on. The similarities between JBP and RP are striking. Not only that, but JBP's primary fan base are men's rights activists and red pillers. The amount of time that RPers and MRPers talk about Peterson is astounding. It is indeed cult-like, his following, in the very literal sense of the word. Let's just say I also saw a post on MRP (Married Red Pill) recently where the poster said that JBP is the sole reason why he's questioning his long-standing marriage and entire…

Thanks for that story - it's interesting to see how online bleeds into real life and how it all plays out when you were into PUA/RP. The fact that the guys were less edgy when you met them and more normal - do you think that's the natural result of being unable to keep up a facade when you're in a situation where the other person has intimate knowledge of you? For example, PUAs/RPers etc who have met online already have access to the other person's more intimate desires and thoughts, hence you c…

I think everyone's thought of this kind of situation if they had to watch Titanic. (It's interesting to research Titanic, don't get me wrong, just don't want to deal with the Kate-Leo shit in the movie.) I don't have kids but I'd think the general rule should be, "children and parents first". Keep the family unit together. Gender doesn't matter. The rest of us are single and don't have any dependents that are going to grow up parent-less. I would be extremely upset at the idea of being separated…

No, I know collective guilt doesn't work. It doesn't matter if you see RP as individualistic or collective or not. But you bring up a good point which I feel I should hastily correct here: I don't intend at all to make you feel guilty. That should be self-evident when it comes to any BPer who has been around for years. This might help with future assumptions when both sides debate, actually. The point for a lot of long-term BPers is we know the major names of redditors who've been heavily involv…

Uhh I don't want to hear reasons from other people. This is another big issue for RP, and a very stupid thing to write on a debate message board where you yourself are a moderator and should know better. This is textbook RP, though - the unabashed, "I don't have to listen to others, I have my own opinion and it's right, what you're saying is crazy because you're not educated about it like I am, so yeah, I'm fine where I am, thanks" (aka "one's frame", where nothing needs to be explained to other…

It seems like you're spending a lot of time being pedantic about something that doesn't really matter here. Do you see the irony in saying my comment wasn't part of the dialogue, and then inserting yourself into the dialogue and furthering the conversation segue? None of it really matters.

This typically literal interpretation is understandable. However, my contribution, though not asked for by people real or imaginary at that specific point in time, wasn't entirely off-topic. Or rather it prompted the common criticism of BPers not reading RP material, and I added my own history in for the record.... mainly so I can refer to this specific contribution in the near future, where this assertion will inevitably arise again on this very message board. A few other RPers here have shown …

Sidebar again: No More Mr Nice Guy. I didn’t mind this book, though the writing was a bit simplistic. It gets the male reader to think about how they were a pushover growing up (there’s a lot of focus on men who are too supplicating, using examples) and how to change this behaviour. I read some of this book out to my friend Cameron when I realized he was a classic “nice guy” who people took advantage of. Some of the info resonated with Cameron (who refused to read the book but would agree to me …

Not IckySticky but I've read all their stuff too, and listened to interviews with them over the years. Most blues who have been around long enough have done so. Here's some stuff off the top of my head: Roosh V. I read his stuff about two years ago, and occasionally still read it today. His Bang! series books highlight getting laid overseas for the most part, and he uses descriptions of ways he approaches chicks and he describes how other men can do the same. From memory most of these chicks wer…

Oh hell yeah. I noticed several things, in round about this order, when I first discovered TRP: Man, this shit is insane and sexist, and even the ones who aren't naturally like that seem to want to become insane and sexist to fit in; The way they discuss things is like a religious cult; Shit, everything is contradictory: they have "the truth" which is seeing the world for "what it really is", but at the same time they demand you "only operate from within your frame" which means you can't ever ob…

Haha right? I gotta say, acting primarily as a lurker here nowadays and watching people like Stoney talk all new-agey about the "fallacy of real truth" which only the upper echelon RP snowflakes can understand ("I am getting it... but am I really getting it?") reminds me very much of a scene from a show called The Mighty Boosh. As though RP's current sage Gods won't be replaced with different dudes with a different praxeology in the future who in a few years time "really speak to us RP men" and …

It's admittedly divergent in topics. Interpretation depends on whether the reader perceives it as glib, merely anecdotal, demonstrative, seriously, mildly offensive to long-held convictions, or something that is merely chatty. Or a combination of all things. It's mostly just chatty.

He's angry that people can actually think the way Red Pillers do. He finds it offensive. So do I. This is a common society opinion about people who use subterfuge and manipulation to gain selfish ends - people don't like those who act selfishly, as it comes at the cost of negatively impacting others by default. And "others" is "potentially anyone other than the individual using manipulation" - which is a lot of people. I'm not moralizing here, and know I won't change any RPers' mind. I don't exp…

Being DT makes you better at getting laid and having ONS. This is why the Green River Killer was such a hot ONS dude with the ladies. Sure, they were prostitutes and underage runaways who were raped, but who cares about a high SMV if you're gonna kill them afterwards, I guess - you could certainly call that being better at "short-term mating but not long-term mating". But seriously, back to regular-citizen I'm-not-into-killing psychopaths. Dude I worked with had DT traits. He also never got laid…

Better at everything. Better at getting laid, having ONS, having a relationship (romantic). I bring this up first because this is a TRP goal - sexual success. Without question, the "natural alphas" (I don't generally use the term "alpha" usually because it sounds stupid, but let's go with that for the sake of the discussion here) are the ones who are generally empathetic, generous, friendly, don't distinguish between the sexes, and don't treat different people like they want to elicit certain re…

Now you're just using blooper words to make taking the salt sound bad, which it inherently isn't if you look at evo psych and biology.

No. The Red Pill way of obtaining salt from someone else wouldn't involve an open, honest request for salt. You'd have to: Go on the internet and read a subreddit on the true nature of salt for months on end; Spend some time thinking about how salt is inherently evil, and internalizing the belief that because salt has no morals, there's nothing wrong with you using salt whenever you want, and anyone who says differently is denying you your biological right to have salt whenever you feel like it;…

It might be a country-specific thing, but over the ten years I edited and co-wrote analyst and broker reports in Canada and Australia (2005-2015) I never once saw anyone refer to stocks as "alpha" and "beta". Not once, from any private analysts or brokers or even major brokerage firms. I did see the term "sexy" used to describe lucrative stocks, though, which struck me as amusing when I first got into the industry - the word "sexy" in amongst a lot of technical jargon and data.

There is nothing wrong with not getting into relationships because you don't want to get into a relationship. The problem is when you avoid relationships based solely on a faulty premise. It's the faulty premise ("TRP says all women are hypergamous and untrustworthy") that's the issue that's going to affect your daily interactions on a constant basis, not the fact that you're single. When people like those on the Manospherian subs view women as lesser and/or evil, it's amazing how this negative …

You do know, right, that statistically speaking men are more likely to cheat? That doesn't mean I'm going to avoid relationships, assuming each dude is going to cheat on me - because it's paranoid and stupid to avoid people because I think they might cheat on me at some unknowable point in the future. The issue is that a lot of users who post here about feeling that their relationship with past TRP use was traumatic don't really need to hear from those who feel that TRP has some value, and unfortunately this sub gets flooded with TRP users all the time. An analogy would be an ex-Mormon posting on the support sub for those who've left the church, only to be told by a Mormon (or Mormon sympathizer) that the problem isn't with Mormonism, but relating to some unrelated mental issue they have. My degree is in psychology. While I haven't worked as a psychologist, I do work in psychology (research). It doesn't take a superior human being to look at a group of people and not generalize their behaviour to a larger, broad demographic: in fact many people are capable of differentiating. While people can form involuntary mental and emotional associations by being shown stereotypes repeatedly, "can" does not mean "all humans will". The tendency to equate one group with another varies based on…

No. Believe it or not, the only people who come off looking bad on TBP are RPers. Believe it or not, some people can dislike what certain people are doing without making it about an entire gender.

First up - no one is required to give you an explanation, just because they downvoted you. You can ask or demand things of people and they can respond how they like. Second of all, people are generally not responding for several reasons. You start by asking people to give you a reasonable response to arguments that are viewed by readers as unreasonable. You can't give a reasonable answer to an unreasonable proposition. You also gave people unreasonable parameters in your OP: No "well if you thin…

If genes played a role in mating of animal species related to us that share 98% of our DNA, why would they magically stop playing a role with us? Socialization. It has a large influence on our behaviour. No one thinks, "let me analyse the genetics involved here and think about breeding prospects". They only think, "Do I want this relationship or not?", which is something that both genders consider quite often. Agreed. I also think people need to look at the bad or irrelevant content on other subs. No sub is free from this; it's hardly PPD-unique. I agree that most of the content is interesting, the community vibe is fairly strong, the mods do a good job... things are working pretty well actually.

This is sub is being trashed by people on both sides only using it as a shoutbox, circlejerk incubator, and site for flame wars. Not really, I think, relative to other subreddits. If you think about the fact that I'm blue-flaired and get along well with a lot of red-flaired people here, as well as blue and purple people, you can see a community has formed where some people express a level of affection even for each other. Good point - I often feel that people downplay the role of context when they debate here. And /u/wub1234 - you're no failure: Why I am such a unique failure I don't know, but I'm slightly less of a failure than I imagined. Remember: writers never have it easy. I've seen several threads on Red Pillers with daughters. The worst I've read is an admission that, by proxy of her gender, she will grow up to be "a bitch". The best I've heard is ordinary parental bragging about how their daughter is better than anyone else's daughter. The main narrative however seems to be to not mention the daughter unless she does something that RPers would particularly approve ("in fact, my daughter told me about RP in the first place and advised I look at it"). Masculinity and femininity are not inherent to men or women, they are social constructs used to make men and women act and behave certain ways. Though some gender traits are social constructs, there is the fact that generally boys will play with trucks and toys while girls will play with dolls or pretty things. That's why the friend component is important in that aspect. It's not just about ex-employers being assholes... they probably are. But if EVERY single person the guy has been friends with at some stage is now "an ex-friend" that's a sign. It's the same with men and women. To me frat guys are their own bubble, and they correlate with the sorority gossip queens too. Interested in this. We don't have fraternities or sororities in Australia. All we know of it, growing up, is how they're represented in films. It assumes that: Every woman is manipulative, narcissistic and Machiavellian but also that women are emotional children who rely on their FEELSTM in all decision-making matters (i.e. can't make decisions) Every woman wants to get married and have kids (not for me, thanks) and that they are biologically driven by this all the time "Men love women, and women love children" vs "Women are shitty parents" (Actually saw someone write about a mother, "she's probably AWALTing …

I like having someone with brutal honesty in my circle of friends. They can bother others, but I enjoy people who can be blunt. I'm more "empathetic" or whatever, whereas they will face a situation with blunt truth. Brutal honesty can express itself through many traits in a friendship, but I also value it. Good to see he's someone you can be brutally honest with and receive the same thing in return.

No. My vibe from Sargon is that he includes information that leans towards mainstream (read: accessible) conspiracy theories based on assumptions and others' opinions, but he certainly does NOT post stuff like the Obama-cyborg level theorizing. I haven't watched all of his videos by a long shot - but he's not crazy. There is his opinion behind his logic, which is why he has so many followers. His opinions rather than anything leaning towards "over the top" conspiracy theorizing drives his argume…

That's the standard SJW mindset. They're like conspiracy theorists In all honesty a lot of the conspiracy theorizing seems to come from alt-righters (or "libertarians" in some cases), not BP types. All of the holocaust deniers on the altright sub were rather insane with their "proof" of it not happening. Also, if you enter the Youtube universe, it's people like Sargon who rant about conspiracy theories and his less-popular friends who insist, based on nothing but a photo, that Obama is a cyborg.…

I think it was the bleakest book I'd ever read at that point in time. The only bleaker books I can think of since then are those by Emile Zola. Oh, and Jude The Obscure by Thomas Hardy. All good novels, but all pretty bleak.

I laughed at the Entourage thing. Oh dear. I get you. As long as you're cool with him, the friendship is cool. I have had some same-gender friendships (female friends) in the past that seemed a little too... um - what's the female version of bromosexual?... which made me feel a bit odd. Eventually when the threesome thing was suggested by one... I nupped politely out of it. Ahh - you're charismatic. I thought so. Don't worry too much. I think since you're worrying about it at this point, you'll probably start to automatically enforce boundaries in the future almost without realizing it. Thanks for your comment! Yeah, actually, I don't think BNW was really about gender at all. I agree entirely that you can feel the 70s free-love vibe suggested in the novel. I think I was really breaking it down into gender in response to try to redirect the novel back to the topic of romance and gender in that world. Generally, while reading BNW I didn't find that gender was something I thought about at all. It was really the focus on society that's the focus of the novel. (A completely differen…

Generalizations are necessities in the way you mean, yes. With humans - we use them all the time. I suppose survival-wise, it makes sense (take in your environment, assess what other humans intend). And without generalizations, we wouldn't have humour. And without humour, life wouldn't be great. I agree those specific generalizations I listed make no sense at a literal level and shouldn't be adhered to.

Depends on how you look at it. (EDIT: Some spoilers involved here...) Yes, Brave New World does espouse open sexuality, but equality only to an extent. I haven't read the book in years, but I do recall that the dating-ritual dramas and affairs that occurred were meant to insinuate that there were issues with equality re: sexuality in BNW. The men and women in BNW's society are shown as being promiscuous (except for the female protagonist, relatively speaking), but I recall that generally the men…

They are both great books. 1984 is a lot more hard-hitting, being ultimately bleak emotionally. Still, a brilliant book and as you say, you live in hope until the WTF moment, then it smashes it out of the park. Brave New World is a great read too, I highly recommend it. There is some of that 1984-esque pain in there, but the tone is slightly less grim. The WTF moments are still there, but the pain you feel for the characters is less devastating than the fate of the protagonists in 1984. I've fou…

I'd consider him sexually ambiguous (either gay or straight) based on his facial features, but wouldn't find him attractive based on the excessive, unnatural-looking musculature. The only problem with applying this book to the real world is that the rhetorical message of the book is completely overlooked. Brave New World suggests that the society it proposes would never work. The female protagonist is shown from the very start to be an imperfect model of her world. Though everyone is encouraged to have sex with other people without attachments, she can't help but note that she seems overly attached to one man and people are talking about it (in a derisive manner). Firstly (this is tough)... I don't believe in hypergamy. That's the first issue with the argument. I think it means (people debate it still) that females will branch-swing to the nearest available Chad in any situation. My problem is that a man's conception of Chad is not necessarily a woman's, or my, conception of Chad. The thinking is that a man knows a woman's mind better than her own, and that their version of Chad is a woman's idea of Chad. That's one issue. Then there's the issue of what e…

He was from New Zealand, I was from Australia, and we talked for a bit and joked and discovered we had the same birthday. He invited me out on a date. After a few drinks I reiterated what we'd said when we first met - that it was nice to meet a fellow countrymen overseas. He went OFF, he was LIVID: "You Australians always think that about us! We're not the same as you! We're a different fucki…

Getting so much attention for something you didn't do anything to deserve is weird. Yeah. I think, "I didn't do anything at all to earn what you think you see." I know they're being nice, but it's not something that deserves... praise, or whatever the word is. And I don't mean to complain, either, it's just odd and external and has no association with me, my thoughts, or anything I've done. "stop fooling yourself, you're not anything special, maybe people are staring because you are unusual look…

Yeah, though I'm not thinking of it from that angle. I was thinking: he's probably tired of her by now and would have moved onto someone else. Being President requires someone to be a "family man", but ironically a presidency would put a strain on most marriages, I'd think.

One observation I get a lot when someone comments favourably on my appearance is that "you have natural beauty" or "you have traditional beauty". I admit I don't wear a lot of make-up, generally have a frank cheerfulness of manner and I mainly wear dresses and skirts. My hair is long and dyed one shade darker than usual (it's a "golden brown" colour). People also generally feel that I'm quite a lot younger than I am. I don't have the traditional blonde-haired and blue-eyed cutesy look, but I hav…

This is true and makes sense. The boyfriend always seems taller than me. I always forget or fail to notice this isn't the case. Occasionally he's said, "I'm actually shorter than you." I guess standing side-by-side I can notice it occasionally, but it just doesn't seem... real. I've incorrectly described him as "tall" to others before. In my mind-set, he's tall. Not just the boyfriend, but there's been other guys who I've naturally thought of as tall who aren't. Many of them. Likewise, there's t…

How do you think that so-called geniuses become so successful? They know many - but not all - subjects VERY well. I know a champion of trivia. He's won a lot of money on game shows in my country and the country he's from. He knows a lot. He probably IS a genius, in terms of society's definition of that term. He certainly appears to be, and I don't doubt his intelligence. But when we play hangman and I use a word like "samovar", he's never heard of it. When I reference the Battle of Borodino, he'…

Sorry, I had the age "21" in my head from another poster... I am a man that likes to read about history, philosophy, and politics and play video games Being well-versed in these topics (especially history) at age 19 is impressive. Many men have no interest in these subjects - aside from video games - until they're quite a bit older. Also, a female gamer might be a good pick for you. Female gamers know that quite a bit of intelligence goes into being a good player. For example, I respect fellow P…

Definitely. I'm in my 30s and I've dated men in their 20s. This usually happens more when you meet in real life than online, but I think a woman in her 30s would still be impressed that a guy in their late teens or 20s would approach them online. It shows the guy is confident and respectful of women, and probably appreciates more life experience. (That is, unless the guy writes something dumb like "yeah I love cougars!")
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/17 10:33 PM

True. Women with INFJ traits are also not intimidated by intellect but respect it. The thing is many women with this personality type don't use online dating as much, probably because of shyness. They're more people you see out and about, like women who work at book stores and libraries (a bit of a cliche but true. There's a Seinfeld episode about this.)

Not even remotely. In fact it flows with clarity and ideas that are expressed better than average (much more so). You also use terms that are expressive: "hopped-up" and "wolf-y look" are terms like those in used in good fiction literature. (Common literature uses instead terms like jittery or leery.) Iris Murdoch uses the term "wolfish look" occasionally and similar terms - it expresses more about the personality and their expression because it encapsulates the personality of the person and is …

Aside from my brother (who is also friends with him), he's been my friend since we were kids. I'm also protective of him, particularly people taking advantage of him. Yes, but you have writing talent. I'm not sure whether you've considered fiction? Memoirs are what people often think of when they possess intellect, but that's not your only option. I think the experience of romantic love changes a person, but it has nothing to do with sex. Personally, the person I've had the strongest romantic and sexual feelings for - it wasn't consummated. That experience certainly changed me. I don't think sex (consensual sex) changes people. Time does. Consensual sexual ex…

Yes, I think you'd have a presence. I don't think you can keep intellect separate from presence, and many people - especially younger people - are intimidated by intellect. It has a special force. It makes a weak person feel in adequate. Therefore you need to cast your eye around for a strong person/woman, not someone subject to self-doubt so strongly. My first instinct (and remaining instinct) is that you should go for an older girl. History, philosophy and politics are something that become mo…

I think I mean it's admirable within the context of the counter-culture ideal that one should strip themselves entirely of emotion when dealing with sexual situations. Well, I mean, I guess I'm condemning the RP ideal here. I rather agree with Mark Manson's take on emotion, rather than the idea of taking emotion out of relationships. Good idea. It sounds strange, but I'm starting to wonder if people are wrong - that sex might be better when people are older. It goes against everything we're told, but a few hints from my older friends suggest this might be true. (I know that's not the main point, but a stray observation.) Yeah, Nevada would be good for it. I've been to Nevada when I traveled to the US... three times in fact. It surprised me that people liked the heat and lights and slot machines. I smiled at "the equipment". Such a better term than the alternatives. One thing I'll say is I'm surprised by how many men in their 60s are just as sexually driven - or more so - than younger men. To put one example bluntly, I walked in on my father masturbating a few years ago. We both acted like nothing happened, of course. Then again my history involves way too much involuntary straying into my parent's personal lives and is a bit of an odd one.

Eh - to be honest, I'm not sure what works for each person. Every man I've spoken to has had mixed results. And each of them, I suppose, has objectively different levels of attractiveness. Objective = what I assume others think. Even if ugliness were involved, the prostitute shouldn't factor this in. (I say should, but I know shoulds aren't reality.) If the prostitute is being paid to put on a performance (a lie) she is presumably not attracted to the man (the audience). Or rather a good actor/a…

Agreed about overprotection. It doesn't exactly give the kids the basis for going out on their own and flourishing as individuals. I wonder how much of it is to do with parents being reluctant to letting their kids grow up for self-interested reasons. The object of parenting should be caring for one's child, obviously, but it should also be to provide them with the ability to cope as an adult.

Yeah. I have to admit that in real life, when talking to men who admit that "they really hate all women" (or even "hate all fucking women"), they seem to talk to me as though I'm not one of this group. I'm not sure if this is because: a) it becomes clear our hobbies are similar; b) men generally observe my personality is not so "feminine"* as my appearance suggests; c) I speak quite frankly and are curious about the person's reply without being overly reactive in verbal conversation; or d) the p…

I should say that I've also noticed that non-cels have occasionally reported the same thing: that the prostitute was so obviously uncomfortable (or disgusted) that it was awkward. I remember reading a string of guys on askgaybros talking about their first time with a guy, with many of them saying their first time was with a male prostitute. I was surprised that this was the case, and also surprised to see that many of them had bad experiences. I've also heard straight male friends (who aren't in…

I agree that intimacy is very different from having sex with prostitutes. I also think that prostitution should be legalized (it is in my state - I'm not from the US). Prostitution is always going to be around, so it's probably better to happen in safer environments (brothels) than in unsafe environments (streets). One thing I've noticed is that many of my male friends who've found it relatively easy to find girlfriends have tried sex with a prostitute (legally) to find out what it's like. I've …

Then I'd say it's anxiety-related. I know it sounds weird, but if you're depressed you are sometimes unaware of the extent to which anxiety can control you. (I'm not suggest you are depressed - but if you are, just putting it out there.) It sounds like a mental block that you'll be able to work through in any case, which is good. Maybe just don't put pressure on yourself to always approach just yet. Once you take pressure off yourself to do something it generally becomes easier.

True. And agree with the OP. Not all relationships are the same, but most of us prefer traditional ones. There's no wrong or right there - some people are polyamorous, for example, which I couldn't do - but I don't mind what others do. People do inherently want to be loved. Well, humans are social creatures, so it makes sense. I guess you could say from a survival perspective it also makes sense - more allies means you're more protected. Yes, THIS. There's no wrong answer here, just the honest answer. If you're overdoing the porn, there's your answer. You're watching too much porn and cutting yourself off from real life. On the other hand, if you've never had any interest in porn at all... your answer is something else altogether. Not necessarily a bad answer, but an answer at least. It's pretty easy to "play" the victim when you actually are the victim. I'm not of Asian descent, but I live in a Western country (not the US) that has a great influx of people of Asian descent. I'm of white European descent, in case that matters. My brother's Vietnamese girlfriend thought it was just normal in the Western world to live in a house filled with 20+ Asian female immigrants with a white male landlord asking $200 a week rent from each of them - well, the $200 or sex. A small minority…

I'm assuming this is a troll, but in case it's not... If we're talking about morality, hating any group of people is pretty fucked. It's not a competition. Yes, they hate anyone who is not white and male. Any group who has these standards should scream out "we're fucking biased!" to you. If it doesn't, then you need to reassess where you are and who you are. Seriously. Then she's an idiot and in for a shock. Child support ends at certain ages in various countries. In my country it stops being paid out at 18. Yeah. Going into the show, I had a preconceived notion of Norman Reedus from the "having a kid with Helena Christensen days" when he modeled.
