Oh yeah, "powerful", in quotation marks, because the US definitely isn't that... Surprise surprise, people think burning a symbol of an oppressed minority is worse than burning the flag of a country built on genocide, slavery, savage capitalism, and the most aggressive imperialist project the world has ever seen. And despite all of that and being the richest country in History it still doesn't affort its citizens the very minimum for a dignified existence, like the right to healthcare, education…

It's one thing to say men are seen as expensive and thus die more in wars and it's another for a group to be actively persecuted for the sake of being who they are, for wars and camps to be motivated by their persecution. Men dying in wars is a terrible side effect of war, but it's not its purpose. While to kill Jews was the actual purpose of the nazi regime. This shouldn't require explanation.

No, I just said antisemitism and actual persecution of Jews had major historical precedents with millennia. Plus, the Nazis had actual intentions of killing all Jews, worked to systematize and to create a huge machinery to carry it out and they escalated the persecution of Jews before the holocaust in ways that invalidated seeing "kill all Jews" as a silly slogan. It's a ridiculous comparison.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/04/22 03:46 PM
-2

Yes, it's a stupid rhetorical point. It's a fallacy of false equivalence. You can't bring up killing all Jews without evoking actual attempts to do so by a huge genocidal machinery. You're trying to piggyback on holocaust victims just to make a point about a stupid slogan with no actual concretization whatsoever.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/04/22 03:42 PM

EXCEPT when you make this particular comparison you are not comparing just hate language, you are also inevitably bringing to people's mind's the historical baggage that goes far beyond mere language and using that as an example. There's no talking about killing Jews that doesn't evoke the actual systematized attempts to do so and that is why that type of slogan applied to Jews is loaded and carries a weigh that hardly applies to any other groups in society. This is fucking obvious.

"Disliking men" is nowhere near the level of antisemitism that existed in nazi Germany and in many other instances throughout History... You cannot defend this, it's utterly absurd.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/04/22 03:30 PM
-13

PLEASE, no!! Don't say that! Jesus Christ... Jewish people have been targeted as a group, have been scapegoated and have been the victims of persecution for thousands of years! In 1930's Germany there was already a Historical precedent, at least from the Biblical times, anti-semitism was rampant, Jews were seen as sub-human, conspiracies were fabricated to simulate plots for world dominations, etc! There's simply no comparison. This is so stupid... Don't make me argue this...

Hating a group based on immutable characteristics is wrong and I never said anything to the contrary. I said you're making a false equivalency of very poor taste between a silly slogan and the biggest extermination project ever systematized and carried out by humanity in all History. The reason why "kill all Jews" is an abhorrent phrase isn't just because it's wrong to hate a group on immutable characteristics, it's because they've actually been the victim of the literal implementation of that i…

Come on, everyone!! What's up with you?? Obviously what you described here is in extreme poor taste... The reason why "kill all jews" evoques a very strong response is not primarily because of what's being said but because it evoques the actual historical attempts to do so! And this is done with intent, it's not just coincidence that they chose "jews" as the replacing word. "Kill all Martians" wouldn't quite have the same result, would it?? Because it doesn't relate to anything that ever happene…

I know some people who saw male therapists. I don't know what you mean with the "psychology is a wholely owned subsidiary of feminism Inc", but don't bother, it doesn't really matter. Working on social skills has nothing to do with that. The problem with "mentors" is that random people on the internet have no qualification, these groups are echo-chambers so most likely they would find more like minded people who couldn't really bring anything new and it's virtually impossible to diagnose and hel…

I like this, something positive instead of just complaining. I would let them decide what they want to get called but if you asked me, since incel has become an insult, to reject the term would be the opposite of reclaiming the word. Gays have reclaimed the word "gay" that used to be pejorative and now it's lost its strength as an insult. I think that's the right approach. From what I understand many incels are not very permeable to help tho. I'm not saying to give up, but know there's this "bla…

Duh... What did you expect?? This sub is more often than not totally mockable. It is full of bigots and misogynists and stubbornly ignorant users. That being said, it's what we have... You said female breasts understandably make people uncomfortable and therefore it's ok to call the cops on women who don't cover them at the beach because female breasts are erogenous zones. And I told you that's no criterium at all since other parts of the body we never cover up are erogenous zones as well, including men's chests. zones that are common to be very sexually stimulating. Those zones are limited to genitalia, buttholes and female nipples. Uh... no. They're not. What are you talking…

They also (likely) exited through a vagina at birth. I'm pretty sure no one remembers that tho... While I personally don't care about women being topless in public, I can understand that some/many people do not want others to show their erogenous zones in public. Oh really? Should I start covering my lips and neck too? There's plenty of erogenous zones that we don't cover up. Covering up breasts instead of something else is just culturally determined and there's no inherent reason why it they sh…

Not all the left is "statist", in fact the majority are not. Many on the left are anarchists and even communists want the state to wither away. The state that they consider to be necessary in the meantime is not the same type of state we have today but a state of the people. On the contrary, capitalism can only exist where there is a strong state. The extent to which libertarians want the state to be smaller only relates to public services and the type of thing that benefit the people. At the sa…

This more or less sums up my views: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUX49qg22Os But as always with these things, it's hard to really understand what's going on while it's going on. Right now I'm worried with the politics of escalation that we're seeing. Inviting Zelensky to speak in NATO members' parliaments and so on, but particularly increasing the military budget of NATO members. It's all provocative and none of this is for the benefit of the people. I'm sure some are profiting from the whole…

All politics isn't just voting. The left in particular know this well. There's plenty of necessary political action besides voting and what gets done by the government. Also, incorporating men's issues wouldn't anger 90 percent of the voting demographic is MRAs weren't constantly this antagonistic. There's no point in calling all me pathetic losers and all women selfish and entitled. This is the sort of thing that keeps men's issues away from mainstream politics.

It's not people who call themselves academics. It's the academia that recognizes and hires them as academics. And regardless, people don't have to have an ideology tailored to those who like to talk out of their asses without having to read. It's not that leftist terminology doesn't mean anything, it's that it doesn't mean anything to people who haven't read what the authors meant by those terms.

That is liberal policy. This is what liberals do - they adopt seemingly progressive policies just for show that end up making no sense and often not addressing the issues at their core anyway. People are stressed, depressed and unhappy at work and companies do not care about you, or your thoughts and feelings. Companies exist to make money. The issues with wage labor and working for profit driven companies are plenty and even for those who get to benefit from those resource groups and other init…

I kind of agree and understand altho your explanation is a bit "bro sciency" when you mention sexual selection and genes. On the same vein, because I'm totally making this up without any evidence to back it up, I'd say it could have less to do with the selection of genes but more with the ability to take care of babies. When you have sex you risk getting pregnant and a partner who can only understand others through things being spelled out for them may not be that good at dealing with babies and…

It's not that I disagree with your point entirely, I just think you're overlooking a few things: - You can never ask every single step of the way. I don't believe sex can ever be mechanized to that extent and you will always have to rely on non verbal communication. It's up to the people involved to balance that. - The ability to communicate through cues, body language, etc, is itself attractive. There's always ambiguity, full stop Technically yes, you can never guarantee you know 100% that the other person wants it, even if they beg for it and sign a declaration of consent. But that's so silly, so beyond reasonable doubt, so removed from the practicality of social interactions, communication, etc, that it renders the whole conversation pointless. I want to add a couple of points I haven't seen mentioned: - I'd like to see an extension of "body positivity" to men. While efforts are always being made to increase acceptance of fat women and women who don't fit an idealize top model body type, we continue to accept shaming men for their height, penis size, baldness, for being a "neckbeard", etc. This really does take a toll on many men's mental health and it's unacceptable to shame people for something as superficial as physical appearance, …

men must rely on reading ambiguous nonverbal cues That's not what I mean. I think if the other person is being ambiguous you shouldn't just keep going and going. On the opposite, I think both should be showing unequivocally that they approve each other's advances. If you're fishing for clues, just assume they don't want it. If the other person is reciprocating affection in increasingly intimate ways, they're expressing consent. What would be actually radical is the proposal that people should al…

I don't think verbal communication is inherently gentler. You can ask for permission in such circumstances that it constitutes harassment. why is asking the one that results in women being turned off and weirded out? In case it wasn't clear, making a move when you're not sure you're being reciprocated can, obviously, result in the other person being turned off and weirded out. This is how I see it: asking when the other person isn't showing you that they want it will probably result in them bein…

I know this may sound backwards but I find this idea that communication can only be verbal totally silly. If you're cuddling with a woman you don't just jump into kissing or touching her boobs. You'll put your arm around her and you pay attention to how she reacts. If there's any sign that she doesn't like it, take it off. If she does nothing, leave it alone or take it off as well, she can always come closer again if she wants to. If she actually goes further, you can procede. Say she'll hold yo…

He's wrong. - "You can go on about how masculinity itself is toxic or you can be horny for Volodymyr Zelensky but you can't do both." To begin with, "toxic masculinity" doesn't mean masculinity itself is toxic, that's a misunderstanding of the term and you'd be hard pressed to find someone using that term in that sense other than someone who's triggered by the expression and is trying to strawman it. Go ahead, downvote me as usual. It simply is not what it means. Second, "you can't do both" with…

Oh man... convincing people to accept feminism, to any extent, is converting them, to such extent. I didn't try to get people to accept anything. I said it would be smarter and more productive to address individual points of disagreement instead of this "all feminism is a hate movement against men" rhetoric. try arguing in a feminist sub, with the general consensus, and see how long they let you, As I argued in my posts, being more tolerant than what you consider to be a hate movement isn't that…

If what was the case? What I described there IS the case, I can show you if you haven't read it. I never tried to convert anyone to feminism. I tried to bring nuance to the conversation and I tried to convince people this blind hatred for feminism is uninformed and it's a tactical error since it marginalizes the movement. I'm sure you understand there are possible positions between blind anti-feminism and trying to convert people to feminism... As I said, this is not a place for nuance.

I had very lengthy discussions about that on a couple of posts I made. I tried to explain feminism encompasses diverse ideologies and movements and that we should focus on opposing feminism on a case by case manner, when and only when they infringe on our rights. But to be honest, this is a very right wing sub, I think many people here are just reactionaries who use men's issues as a way to point out double standards to attack feminism, rather than being actually primarily concerned with men's i…

I just want to say I really disagree with the tendency you see here of understanding the problem of circumcision only against FGM. You'll find people in this community will often speak of men's issues as if they're just a reaction to women's issues or to feminism. I find this totally misguided and pointless. It's as if they're not really worried about circumcision but are just dying to point out double standards. That being said, no one should be allowed to cut pieces of you out if not strictly …

What a piece of shit of an article... This doesn't even merit debunking, but here go a few points I think you haven't made: "Women almost never scare us", such a great way to start. As if we sent people to prison because they're scary. "In the United States women commit only 17% of felonies, while in Australia they commit about 13% of the crimes dealt with in the higher courts." How do we know that that's not the case because women are already treated more "farily" than men in courts? It's possi…

Read feminist theory and forge your own arguments against it. There's nothing like truly understanding something to be able to make a proper critique. You can't expect to learn about something through its critiques, you'll always get a biased perspective and you'll be missing important pieces of information. I'd say find the seminal works of feminism first before jumping into their critiques.

ABSOLUTELY. You have to be confident in what you think is true. People will tell you it's fine to open up, cry, be emotional, be vulnerable, etc. Just let them say it. If you think that's not actually the case, don't do it. I think women idealize men being open and vulnerable to the same extent that they are, but ideals and reality aren't always aligned. Fair enough. Personally I don't find any necessity for male exclusive spaces. And honestly, I get the impression that men in general don't, some just have this "if they can have it we can't we?" attitude which reminds me of children who only want to play with a toy when some other kid's playing with it already. This is what a hate movement looks like. It's what a movement with diverse branches looks like on occasion. Many feminists are sympathetic to male issues. You just don't accept it because you don't understand the language. You think when they say it's the patriarchy it means you're doing it to yourself and when they talk about toxic masculinity it means you're toxic if you're a man. It stems from often willful ignorance about their jargon.

The system does that for them and they're often not totally aware or even powerless to change it. This is OBVIOUSLY wrong, regardless of how it qualifies legally. He used his power over her living situation to make her have sex with him explicitly against her will. If you think it's ever ok to make someone have sex with you when they said explicitly they don't want to you're a psychopath.

Regardless of the harmful effects, there's simply no justification for mutilating someone. No one should cut out parts of you without your consent if it's not medically necessary. Imagine people cut out your earlobes when you were a baby. Even in such a case where it would arguably have no negative effects (I'd imagine) it would still be barbaric and wrong.

They do it here too. Some user went through my profile presumably looking for evidence that I was actually a tankie when I denied it, but since he couldn't find any he settled for calling me Dobby because I commented on the harry potter sub! Just laugh it off, people are too silly to take these things seriously.

What is wrong is a government being able to force you to fight a war you don't want to fight. What way out is available to you is indifferent. There's nothing wrong with this guy taking advantage of what was available to him, what is wrong is that many other men don't have a way out. And in my opinion it's also really stupid that they wrote this article about the pain of having to dress like a girl when all and all that's really insignificant compared to what cis men are facing right now in Ukra…

And also, no, it wasn't because I was wrong, because even if I was, nobody here did a minimally good job at countering anything I said in any way. YOU haven't proved anything! I'm demonstrating that the arguing that whatever they call themselves makes it true is evidently wrong! Show me ANY evidence that the nazis were socialist. I'm guessing what you mean by socialism is the existence of social programs? That's not what I'm talking about. That would be so called social democracy. I don't mean to say class struggle will solve every issue. Yes, the ownership of the means of production can change and we can still have issues as men. That everyone has issues on a societal level should be evident to everyone. I believe that class struggle is one that affects us all and can only be solved through the unity of the working people. To keep us fighting petty identity politics only serves to fracture the working people and it's in the best interest of the owning class, not ours. In whatever small ways we can we should try to converge.
