It's both. Sad, too, as that's a marriage in deep trouble.

Now? Probably always. It's up to you to know quality people.

I agree--those words were fatal to her EVER feeling sexy and uninhibited with him again. Duty sex less often with the lights off . . . yay! :-\

I see people do this a lot. I think it's cringeworthy.

Uh, like the couple actually loves each other? I see women (and men) stick by their spouse in sickness all the time with my job, so I don't think it's all that rare. People--both women and men--are better than the red pill predicts, imo.

Finding a doctor who will take medicare with no other insurance can be difficult. They always take it where I work since we serve a geriatric population, but reimbursement is less than regular insurance (so docs who don't specialize in geriatrics often try to steer clear). Even with Medicare, the copays can get pretty high for seniors on a budget. After a qualifying hospital stay, someone can have 100 days of rehab, but copays kick in after 20 days. It's sad how many people leave at 20 days when…

Interesting. One of my best friends is a single guy. I nag him about health care (to the point where he will go to the doctor just to shut me up). I often feel bad about it when I do it, but he seems to appreciate it. He calls it my "tough love."

That is a total misunderstanding of what Nice Guy (tm) means. A Nice Guy (tm) is a holder on--hanging out, agreeing, doing things, with the hope he will get sex later, yet never disclosing his attraction. It's not the same as having a good personality and being a true friend, in fact, its the opposite of having a personality at all. In my opinion, anyway.

If the only thing a man is, is a "provider," that would be a pretty sad relationship.

But if she freezes her eggs now, she could later. Just saying I think it will become more common for career women (provided she's under 40. They won't do it for older women--you have to think ahead somewhat for that.)

Honestly, I think it's fine to not date someone because of a lack of chemistry/attraction. Not every, or even most dates turn into relationships. You put a lot of stock into her age, but if she's a physician, hopefully she's smart enough to freeze her eggs. It could give her an extra decade. I think all young women should do this if they're single at 30.

Because of how terpers handle conflict (silent treatment/ withdrawal and dread). Not many women would choose that.

I am older, but got my masters in 2011 at a college in the western world. I didn't see that in my cohort at all. In fact, with a level of sameness that bordered on ridiculous, the young women in my program started at 22 with long term boyfriends who were of the same social class (young professionals or future professionals still in school). Within a year of graduation, there was a flurry of weddings on facebook. Then a year later, a mass of house buying. Now, they all seem to have kids. Not very…

What subset? Guys who are financially secure (but not necessarily rich?) I do believe most young women have a minimum standard that includes a guy who could support a family for a few years. That's not hypergamous--that's making sure you don't get pregnant by someone who can't maintain household. I don't believe women in their 20's chase after a small subset of men. I don't see it in my past and I don't see it in my young adult children. I think most young women date and marry guys they work wit…

Woman were/are hypergamous in cultures where marrying up was all they could do to improve their lot in life. I find the idea that all women (or even most) still do that in the modern western world--or that most women would leave a committed relationship to move "up" absurd. And I only even buy into hypergamy for money and status (for cultures where women have no other options). The idea of it applying to attractiveness strikes me as b.s.

I'm saying that there are people who pass for "leaders" who mostly specialize in self promotion. Saying "I'm great" isn't the same as actually being great. Getting along with others and collaborating with other disciplines matters as well. Yes, to be a leader you have to be a little assertive, but often the best directors I've had have been reluctant leaders who valued everyone's input.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/15 12:47 AM

I agree that assertiveness, especially when it comes to self promotion, doesn't necessarily add any value.

I don't agree. I don't think there is such a thing as a default custody arrangement--it's decided by courts whether the parents were married or not.

I find it creepy to post someone's picture without their permission and I find rating people by their appearance to be obnoxious. It appalls me to read the number rating of women by looks on TRP, but I'm just as appalled when women do that. I think it's okay for looks to matter, but I think that's a personal and subjective measure.

I don't agree about attraction with aging--hasn't held true for me (as a women) or my guy friends in their 50's.

near scenario--sexbots are in the uncanny valley. They look almost real, but are wrong enough to look creepy. Guys who are off, can't tell the difference and get them. They're expensive, but better than a blow up doll. middle future scenario--sexbots look better and are more natural. They're robots, though, and most men want a real relationship. It won't matter to the guys who can't get a relationship because they don't see women as people, but rather as objects to acquire. They'll buy them, and…

"divorce rape"--In my experience, people who end up paying alimony or spousal support do so because of a joint decision that one person would be providing monetary resources and the other would work at home. This happens with child support as well. I think it's a lack of owning up to responsibilities to call the consequence of that joint decision "divorce rape" (and ironically TRPers tend to want younger uneducated wives, who increase that risk.) Either think a stay at home parent is worth the r…

From statistics online, I know men and women cheat in equal numbers, yet in real life, the cheaters I've known have always been men. The whole red pill fascination with women cheating seems so childish to me. Most people, men and women, are above that.

Needing security before she turns 30? 25 and getting up there? These are red pill beliefs-- too "on the nose" and no woman said that, ever. I mean, I felt kind of "old" the year I turned 27 because it seemed like the switch from being a young adult to a true grown up, but it was my hottest year. No woman would write about cheating that way.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/11/15 08:50 AM

Yeah, so obviously not real and not written by a woman that it's hilarious. Both sexes cheat (men slightly more, but it's almost even). No one genuine would write this.

We're going to have to just agree to disagree on that. I think a lot of rape doesn't even get reported. And very little male rape does, even though it happens. I still think both rape and false rape accusations are pretty rare, and both can be minimized by using some common sense.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/15 04:46 AM

I did that too. Still boring as hell. I mean, I'm glad I did it, but I'm glad it's over and I can have a regular job again.

Oh well, I looked it up and you're right-male nurses are about 9%, but it varies a lot by state. Where I've worked, they seem fairly common, though still a minority. I don't think guys who work outside health care and generally have no idea what nurses do have much business judging how "manly" nursing is or isn't. What in the world would make it "unmanly?"
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/15 04:42 AM

I agree that it's partly socialization. I also think emotional vs. rational thinking is more a matter of personality type than gender (though you could argue that certain types are more common by gender. For example more men are INTJs and more women are INFJs).

Poison in the sandwich. Never rape the person who prepares your food; it's really poor planning.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/15 04:20 AM

That's a very old school view for male nurses. There are tons of great male nurses out there, and I would guess the people who look down on them don't even work in health care (so they have no idea what they're talking about).

Speech language pathology!! Though if you're a guy and want to go into the allied health sciences, odds are you'll pick physical or occupational therapy.

Only for guys who want that. I have a BIL who stays at home with the kids; I found it mind numbingly boring, but I did it for many years.

No, I said there is some oppression there--a guy going into speech therapy has it golden, much like a woman going into engineering or computer science. How big of an effect is something like that though? I majored in computer science till I washed out (with low B's--grateful I did, since I was able to find a field I'm actually good at. The ratio was similar. Pretty sure if I'd made it to graduation most jobs would have still gone to men, even with preferential hiring. I don't actually believe in…

No one says it never happens. It doesn't make it common just because it happens sometimes.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/15 01:39 AM

Those are anecdotal too. It happens but what is the alternative? Never believe women when they say they've been raped? I think a false accusation is criminal and liars should go to prison. That said, I'm pretty sure there are many more genuine accusations than false ones (and many rapists are never even accused.)

Men probably do face more competition now that more women work. That's not oppression, that's just the nature of having more people in the work force. This idea that all men are better/smarter than all women is bunk. They layer out, and the lower men have a harder time since there are bright women as well. The areas where men do face some hiring discrimination in the form of affirmative action are very underrepresented by women. It can go the other way, as well, though. I work in a field with le…

Gone girl is fiction. Plus, if a few crazy women abuse the system, how is that different from a few violent men being rapists. There is scum in both genders--not common, though. You can generally avoid this kind of thing by following the law and hanging out with high quality people. Also--if this story is even true (which I doubt), the guy was an idiot for violating the order. The only person I know who ever got a protective order was a friend of mine who dated an older man on and off for years.…

That's not being "confronted by a man." It's simple courtesy. I have asked men to do the same, such as in a crowded airport terminal. You know what? They simply give in to a woman's request as well, because to take up a bunch of space when someone wants to sit is rude.

The reason there was no red pill in the 80's/90's is the Internet. Men aren't more oppressed now, they just have a better forum to talk about things. That isn't to say bad things don't happen to men. If that story is true, it's awful. But that story isn't really about women or single moms--it's about a crazy person. Bad things happen to women as well. Doesn't make every man an insane rapist or pervert.

I only read about half the responses, but here is what I think. First, TRP is not real. It has some minor truths couched in misogyny. It can hold more truths for both the most shallow of women, and the most shallow of men, but unless you're in that ilk, toss it out the window. You're lonely and isolated and want to get out more. That is very understandable as being a SAHM can be a lonely business. I think you should do things to get out more. Are your kids in school or preschool? Do they have co…

You don't think men do the same? The guys who cannot find any dates at all have set their standards too high, are very shy, or have other issues such as autism that prevent them from connecting with the women they meet. For the most part. I'm sure there are other reasons, but I think if you rounded up all the people with social anxieties and all the people who aren't neurotypical, you'd have a small set left. (Nothing against shy guys or guys on the spectrum--one of my best friends is painfully …

All of life has risks. I work in nursing homes, helping people recover their language or swallowing skills after a stroke or other illness. It is so heartwarming to see husbands or wives who are supportive and loving to their spouse till the end (and it is often a long, drawn out end.) It humbles me to see that. You have to be vulnerable to love someone else, but if you don't at least try, you will miss out.

I just don't get this. How do women live off men's work? I mean, for some, temporarily, they may with their spouse choose to stay home to be a homemaker. To me, that's a job too (and a choice by both people in the relationship). Most women have to work, though. I out earn most men, but even if I didn't make a good living, how would a woman working at any level be living off of men's work?

Not most men, though. I mean sure, for some short term fun, sure--they're the male equivalent of a vibrator. Most men want a connection, though. And most men aren't the angry "hordes" of damaged folk you see on the Internet. I see sexbots as a good thing. The guys who don't want a connection, largely because how to connect with other humans escapes them, will have "someone." It's kind of a win for them, and a win for women as well.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/15 04:56 AM

I'm female, and I welcome our sexbot overlords. I think they'll be a novelty--people will try them out much like they use sex toys today. Some people will get addicted, of course, but for others, it will be mostly a diversion. By that, I mean it will be a source of amusement for couples (a threesome suddenly sounds more intimate when there are still only 2 people there). People between partners will have something for the interim. Most people crave genuine human companionship, and don't objectif…
