I never got the hype w her music but it never upset me because “diff stroke for diff folks.” But my friend spoke about how Billie toes the line of bisexuality without actually being bisexual (like takes advantage of masculine presentation and profits off her “ambiguous sexuality” for profit. If she was actually LGBTQIA+ she wouldn’t stand for a homophobic partner so this whole situation to me is just very disappointing. E- the term for this is queer baiting

My ex who knows I’m in a relationship texted me from a different number and THREE EMAILS (I blocked each one and left them unanswered) over the course a few months. He wanted an explanation for why we couldn’t be friends (bullshit) after the third time, I did not give him an explanation because he knows exactly wtf he did - I told him that if he reached out again I would file a complaint for harassment with the police. Haven’t heard anything since.

So I read this post and wanted to give a little perspective. His date idea was coffee (still extremely meh) then walk the trail and then check out a bookstore in town but when they met at the coffee shop she said she'd rather just go right to the trail and skipped the bookstore. So it was her choice. Should she have chosen better than coffee and a walk? Absolutely. Did the trash still take itself out? Absolutely.

I’m all for calling things out but we should never fall into the trap without digging a little deeper: “@karamobrown i’ve mentioned this multiple times, but I will ya (sic) again, this was an inside joke between Kiké and I for years. I would wear heels, and he would run on to a couch or chair to do an interview. We are really good friends and this was just part of our thing. Low effort. I was 21 he was 27. I was in college at a military academy and never had time to myself to relax. He liked to “chill out” a lot and that was refreshing at first. 3 yrs later I realized whenever I wanted to do something, he’d complain about it. I thought he was just shy/introverted but he was just extremely low effort. In our final fight he told me he didn’t know how to be a bf and expected me to wait an additional ten yrs before marriage and kids. ✌🏾

I’m here for the accountability. Women hold each other accountable - almost to a fault because it gives lvm the ammunition they need to further divide women. Men, on the other hand are more concerned with proclaiming “not all men,” that they miss the message altogether (ex: do you remember the Gillette commercial? 🙄). Lowkey I think this is an excuse not to hold other men accountable. This is refreshing.

I’m replying to another comment (see above) which makes it appropriate. It’s typical to self victimize when being called out and tell me to take these topics “elsewhere” but I’d expect more from a woman on this sub. Have a good day. E: again I never said this young woman specifically shouldn’t have done her makeup like this, I never even called her out personally. All I did was reply to another comment that it’s important to realize the implications of race play and darkening foundation to appea…

If someone stays out of the sun or lighten their foundation it’s because they’ve been told their dark skin is unattractive. There’s shame and self-hatred at play due to prejudiced and racially based systems that prefer Eurocentric features in people of color. The two aren’t the same. If a ww chooses to darken her skin with makeup, I won’t try to stop her. It’s not worth my energy and people have the agency to make their own decisions. What I’m trying to say is darkening one’s makeup to appear mo…

Thank you for saying this. He was 18/19 years old. Let’s not hold him to things he said/did when he was still a teenager. Also let’s not imply he was getting into anyone’s pants smh that sounds unnecessarily rapey when he could’ve done it to get a foot in the door/a date

The average length of a relationship before marriage is between two and five years. A 1 carot ring ranges from $1,500-2,000. Not being able to afford a decent ring shows (1) you have terrible money management, (2) you don’t make enough money and should be focused on that instead of dating at this time (3) and you have terrible time management/planning or just didn’t care to give your SO a ring to demonstrate that they’re worth the effort. Dassit.

He’s mad she moved on from a potentially abusive relationship. She was one of the few that got out before it got too bad. Cheating is never ok, but it sounds like she found genuine happiness. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was bi/gay all along but couldn’t explore it because he scooped her up and manipulated her so early on. Good riddance.

Can agree with all of this. Went to the Air Force Academy and was raped by another cadet. Many of my friends were too, along with sexual harassment and general asshole behavior. It was the darkest time in my life and I was pretty much silenced and ignored the entire time

Thank you for this correction. I was literally going to echo this exact statement. This commenter is so vocal, yet is so wrong and this is extremely harmful. White women have immense privilege over black men (ex. emmet till) and history shows white women siding with their own race over their own gender. It’s true that today black men, have some male privilege, but it honestly pales to that of a white woman in most social situations. This is FDS and this digression isn’t really appropriate for th…

hey sis. i wish i had the strength you did. it took me three yrs to break up with my ex who was an extreme LVM. the specifics aren’t important rn but i knew at the beginning it wasn’t good for me. at the end i was so depressed, tired and so worn out that i was a literal shell of the person i truly am. i had nothing left to give to another person, let alone myself. a year later, my mental health is stronger than ever, i’ve lost weight, progressed in work and in my masters program and have strengt…

i used to take it personally growing up in middle/high school and even in college. i’d watch bm harass and bully me and other bw and my nonblack friends would watch and never condemn it. after a few years + loving myself, i realized i didn’t even want them to begin with. now they’re all dusty, crusty and in my dms. tuh!

wow this post was chock full of bad bitch energy and i loved every bit of it. saved. thank you for taking the time to so eloquently put into words how myself and so many others feel. when men and women make excuses for LVM and use mental health as an excuse for poor behavior, we’re continuing the cycle of dysfunctional thinking that lacks the accountability they so desperately need. once again... thank you. 🙏🏾

I’m sorry you went through that, that’s beyond not ok. Some of these things objectively just aren’t political but the American education system has failed us so much that people can’t even see that. It’s not like I want these men anyways but it just further highlights that racism, lack of nuance and the inability to see other perspectives are all LVM characteristics.

This was my coworker who doesn’t believe systemic racism exists. I and others took so much time to educate, even though it’s not our job to educate him w so many resources. It was emotionally and physically exhausting. I told him black women die at higher rates than white women (4-5x more) in childbirth (bc medical professionals think we experience pain differently smh I wish I was making this up) and and he just replied w “intriguing!” It was in that moment that my heart sank and I realized thi…

Yes!! The whole equality argument itself is infuriating. Women have been shat on for centuries and when we speak up for ourselves for a decade or two they throw pseudo equality in our faces like “HERE!” and we’re just like -______- wtf

This always blows my mind. They expect women to abide by gender roles that slowly degrade our individuality and mental health (responsible for cooking, cleaning, child rearing, career comes second/third). But choose to die on THIS hill where the traditional gender role of a man being the provider/pays for meals is a dealbreaker. News flash mf. You can’t have it both ways and any relationship you THINK you will have will ultimately fail bc it is severely unbalanced.

It doesn’t help that the world tells us there’s something wrong w US for not being in a relationship, and never holds men accountable. Remember the uproar from the Gillette commercial that pushed back against “boys will be boys” lawddddd

This is an excellent reminder to not compare relationships. Most of my friends who are married, divorced after a few years or have stayed together despite infidelity and the guy just not pulling his weight in general. Those are not goals.

Not a fan of how she severely distanced herself from a list of predominantly woc artists. Beyoncé’s lemonade was literally chocked full of lyrics centered around her insecurities, I believe all of these artists do in some ways. The underlying message is that they are louder, less delicate and don’t have moments of weakness which further perpetuates these negative stereotypes of woc. The whole statement is tone deaf and v cringe.

Thank you for understanding my thought process. By the downvotes I received you’d think I was a closeted pickmeisha trying to infiltrate FDS haha Although I will continue to support a woman’s choice to participate in sex work, I think it’s equally important that the women in sex work themselves understand the pervasive messaging that they are objects that can be bought. SAHM moms and many women in general provide work that is seen as no/low value in our society economically and I think a woman t…

Ahhh ok. When you said the messaging is that women’s bodies are for sale, it clicked. I was coming at it from the angle of, it’s a woman’s choice. I have two friends who engage in “non sexual” sex work (company, dates, trips) and it pays their grad school tuition so I’ve always supported their choices. Thanks for taking the time to help me understand.

I think this may be unpopular here. I understand why ppl are commenting that she’s glamorizing her life but I think it’s irresponsible to paint all sex work and all sex workers w such a broad stroke. I think it’s so complex. Open to hearing contrary opinions though

While I agree with everything said I do find watching 2-3 min has helped me motivate my severely disorganized anxiety induced mess of a house. Guess I’ll have to find another way to find motivation though bc I don’t want to support this toxic underlying message.

Was a little worried about the direction of the post when I read “black man” then finished and as a bw (25) I’m not surprised by his comments at all. Bw are the most educated demographic in the US and if we choose to date within our race, the numbers are against us (mass incarceration, war against drugs, police brutality against bm). When we get to the top we don’t find bm who are at our level so we date outside our race and are called bendwenches. He’s highly problematic and hardly a prize but …
