While this may sound so simple to you, in all honestly it's not for me. I don't want to go into my own background, but I grew up with totally different ideas. I was never taught that respect is the foundation of love. It would be nice if RPW can be a little more understanding on the initial background on some women coming here to attempt to change. Maybe they won't get the first time or the second time or even the third time--it's a gradual change. Like how a BP man doesn't suddenly become a RP …

Could it be the age difference? He's still developing as a person, trying to figure out who he is and how to maneuver life. As I am. Things for adolescents is never clear--what the future holds, what to believe, what not to believe, who we are even. I'm posting here trying to figure out what I want, what's "right", what's a good way to resolve issues. While these issues may be more clear cut to you because of your experience, it's not for me. I'm trying to understand.

I think the difference is that I respect him as a person but I may not trust him as a potential husband. I don't know what that means as a RPW.

Thank you. This is much more informative and helpful! You expect him to provide for you - but cringe at the thought of being the main bread-winner yourself? Entitled or not, this is a personal requirement I expect of my husband--to be able to provide for me and our family. While this may not be 100% RPW, I would still like to apply RPW standards and ideals to my life and relationships. But otherwise, thanks for providing this into an easy to understand perspective of an older RPW. While I do res…

I am here /because/ I value my relationship with him. If I really didn't and if I really thought that he's such a bad boyfriend, I would have ended it already. Obviously I'm not going to list out all his good qualities when it's irrelevant to the subject at hand and I don't want to have to constantly defend myself that yes I do love my SO, yes I do respect my SO. I'm not questioning about my relationship at the present--I am questioning my relationship thinking in regards to the future.

I don't understand. Everyone has faults--he has his, I have mine. I accept his and he accepts mine. I don't think so little of him at all. He's a great guy, I love him; but I just am not sure if I can marry him and stay with him for the rest of my life. Is that so wrong?

I understand you'd like to shun the non-believers but please try to explain things in a more constructive manner without the continuous attack of "you are entitled", "you are a bad girlfriend", etc. I'm making an effort to understand, so please.

It's not as black and white like that. Just because I'm worried about my future with him doesn't mean I don't respect him. I'm just not blindly trusting him with my future life.

Where did I say I want to change my SO? It's either I 100% support him and stay with him; or I leave him. I'm posting here to discuss my concerns.

If I can't talk about it here, then there's no where I can talk about it. I can only be quiet, not address the concerns I have, and continue to support and love my boyfriend without another thought in the world. I get that it's entitled to even talk about such a thing. Then can I not be 100% RPW? Can I apply RPW standards in my relationship without being a 100% RPW?

Just because I don't list out every single thing I do for him doesn't necessarily mean I'm a bad woman. If I was, he would have left me ages ago. And of course I sound entitled and bratty. Any question like that, no matter the context, will get negative feedback from RPW. But still, I'm here because I value the honesty here instead of lame feedback on /r/relationships. I started dating him before I was introduced to TRP/RPW. I don't want to change him. I just wanted to discuss this issue. Maybe …

So is a RPW a woman who will stick to her SO through thick and thin no matter what? Then what's the point of dating for a RPW? Please seriously explain, I am sincerely curious.

I get where you're coming from but how is this helpful? Even TRP will ease newbies into the idea yet RPW seems to be unnecessarily harsh even though I'm trying to adapt. I'm legitimately confused which is why I came here.

Yeah I understand that. My parents prefer me to date older men, as my dad is 7 years elder than my mom.

Love isn't exactly everything in marriage. I'm not blind enough to think that this momentary happiness will carry on for decades if I do decide to stay with him and eventually marry him. Even if I love him now, even if he makes me crazy happy now--if he can't provide for me in the future and ends up financially depending on me, I will resent him. I will be unhappy. And I will regret not leaving him earlier.

You mentioned that you guys have been dating for a year and a half, right? To suddenly stop contacting you after that long, there must be a reason. Maybe he's testing you to see if you're going to run off with another guy? Or maybe there are some unrelated personal things going on in his life. Either way, you just have to wait it out :( It's hard but you have everyone here at RPW to support you! :)

RP women can be any kind of women. The only difference is that they will do their best to look as best as they can by exercising, taking care of their body, dieting healthy, doing their hair, nails, makeup. Basically on the guys' 0-10 scale, if they are normally a 6, they can make themselves look like a 7-8 by trying hard. Think about how you look like. Now think about how you can look like, at your prime. Same idea. An uglier woman can be RP too, but to make up for her lack of attractiveness, s…

It's so amazing that you guys managed to salvage a breaking relationship and completely transformed it! I wish more girls my age would attempt to fix things instead of immediately just going for the next guy...

Yeah that doesn't sound like anything too serious. It should be fine...like the others have said, the only thing you can really do is wait. :( Has he contacted you yet?

This is gold! I've been trying to push away my feelings of entitlement but what you just explained makes so much sense. Thank you so much for these guiding words...I feel better already haha. It is so much easier to have someone help me see things in a new perspective. :)

I mean if your friends say that and he's still with you then that should mean something! Show him that you're worth keeping. :)

Actually I saw that post that you're referring to and while I totally understand how it can be exasperating for the old posters here on RPW, it was really helpful for me as a newbie. Everything that poster thought, I once thought before too. But now by putting it in a RPW context, I can easily differentiate true RPW and BP hamstering. So not a totally bad thing! I'm still new to all these RPW ideas and I'm still groping around for answers and explanations. I definitely need the time to adjust to…

Every time you feel entitled, step back. It's hard to actually put this into practice. When I'm reading RPW by myself, it's easy. It makes sense. But when I'm actually with my boyfriend I just can't seem to step back. I can tell when I'm feeling entitled, but the actual act of stepping back is incredibly hard to do (I guess because of BP hamstering). Do you have any tips for me to help me mentally slap myself and change frame? Another problem I have is that after a few days of doing stuff for my…

My boyfriend will talk to me about my unacceptable behavior as well, but only when I really cross the line. I don't want to ask him to try to catch me when I'm slipping because while I know it's acceptable and easier to ask for his help, I really want to try to attempt to reform on my own--not just for him but also for myself as a woman. It's a battle I want to fight alone. I'm just so glad I found out about this community while it's still not too late! It's hard going through conditioning now..…

I think one thing I learned from frequenting not only RPW but also TRP is that men are much more likely to stay in a relationship. Once a man is committed, marriage or not, he is much likely to stick to the relationship than females. Usually it's women who break up relationships to ride the cock carousel or whatever. As long as you try your 100% best to be a good girlfriend and follow the guidelines of RPW, I don't think you should worry that much!

This is such great advice! Because the mindset is so conceptual, it's hard to know exactly where I'm at and hard to focus. But your idea of keeping a journal solidifies everything into more practical thought. Thank you so much! I will try this out and hope to update the RPW community in a couple of weeks! :)

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
