"Women and men are not as dissimilar from one another as the media, pop culture and common knowledge pursuade us to believe." And often it appears as though the thing which also separates some people the most is a dedication to the gender roles they were raised upon! If you can acclimate yourself back into a human being, you really see how pointless such dedication is!

I know you're not making that up - it was mentioned in the story. What happens if he freely gives her a gift of a bullet to the brain? She's free to die as she pleases. Something tells me the argument doesn't hold, even though the circumstance is the same - being handed a consequence you don't want, brought to fruition by another's decision.

SpecialOpsCynic makes a good point. Perhaps the mother has displayed proper ability? Granted that doesn't mean much, really. Does anyone else find it odd that he has to pay child support? If his sperm was no longer his property and was used against his wishes, why should he have to pay child support? I understand that the child is biologically his, but the only responsibility he holds in the situation is that he trusted someone to not do this.
