What do you all do for closing? I have great interactions with women, but sometimes I like to talk on the phone first, because I find it’s easier to get flirty and even sexual when we’re both laying in bed comfortable. Then I just drive over with a bottle of wine. At a bar or coffee shop, there are just so many excuses for “I’ve got to wake up early, my roommates are up,” just because it’s hard to be sexual and flirty in public. Even girls I dance with like we’re getting it on, when the lights g…

I completely agree. I recently found out Epictetus, the founder of the first philosophy in pleasure and joy as a foundation for living, actually ranked sex and romantic longing very low on his list. I’m not even sure he ever married. When I broke with the idea that I HAD TO have a female partner at all times, I became myself for the first time since high school. I remembered the feeling immediately, felt like I’d discovered the meaning to life, and just like that everyone tried to make me seem l…

I knew dating was a numbers game when I was a kid intuitively, like when I got rejected for the high school dance by Kellie blah blah blah, I knew in some way I had to keep asking until I got a yes. As I started dating online, the numbers game got WAY more obvious. I’m way more eligible now than I ever was, but still dying out, fizzling conversations are 9/10. A lot of people are just very cautious to fully engage at first. Even when they like you. Even when YOU like them, you’ll start to watch …

If you can have a conversation with your mom, a friend, a supermarket clerk, or any human being, you can seduce a woman. Most people try to do the most with women and you’re right that it comes off canned and maybe even manipulative. What’s funny is that very few people just say, “what if I just talk to women like I talk to random strangers on the internet, or friends in real life.” No added anything, just the comfort of being able to carry a conversation that is adequate and interesting enough …

I’ve found that generally speaking if you’re not feeling natural social energy, you’re either feeling too anxious or avoidant. Anxious means you’re overthinking, avoidant means you’re overwhelmed and you’re dismissing every thought. I’ve noticed that you came here for advice, and people have given you really good advice, but you tend to get avoidant and reiterate your problem or add another. For instance, “I’m an introvert and other people want me to carry the convo,” “why don’t you try coming i…

That was a projectile vomit of thoughts haha, thanks for letting me vent it out! I guess your question just got me thinking and reinforcing it for me. I wish you a good time my friend! The journey is the fun part.

YES! I do. I honestly try to turn everything in my life into a game like that. My favorite thing to do is to go out with a friend and alternate approaches. I might tell a group of divorcees that they’re looking wonderful tonight, then my friend might go up to a group of girls and ask them where they think the best place to grab food is. It’s sort of a tit for tits, where we’re both influenced by each other’s ideas to be bolder. in stand up, it was all about getting comfortable on stage and feedi…

It’s always inspiring to hear people going out and actually approaching people. I’m pretty good at talking after doing stand up for 5 years and drinking for 5 years before that, but I still get nerves every single time, and wonder what to do when the night is said and done. The one thing I would add that really helped me was starting by talking to ANYONE. Train yourself to talk to whoever is in front of you. There are so many times I’ve started a conversation with a shy guy, or a bartender, or a…

It is so refreshing to see someone take this much ownership. To reframe the rejection as a positive, something that will prepare you for the inevitability of disappointment. My new philosophy is built around this idea, that the secret to my success is based on how comfortable I can be in uncomfortable situations. Rejection, boredom, fatigue, novelty, everything that is good is also new, and therefore uncomfortable. If we can change the way we orient ourselves to rejection or boredom, and see the…

Sure! It’s like anything, we just make choices. Just make sure you’re the one making the choice, not her. When your life is set up to fulfill a purpose, sex and companionship have to fit that purpose. The sex becomes less important than the bond you’re building and the work you’re creating. I’m in an open relationship with a girl I feel like I’ll probably marry, but I never choose to pursue other women. I have the choice, but monogamy just seems more natural and rewarding right now. I’ll let you…

Thanks man! We started this series of documentaries called "Self Help Me" about 6 months ago, and the experiments have definitely gotten us in the best shape of our lives.

Definitely a few tree huggers in this group. Our channel lives in the overlap between self-development, psychedelics, and comedy. For some reason people who like one of those things tend to like 2-3.

My dad was a marine, and I came very close to joining when I was killing myself with drugs and alcohol in high school and college. Is there any other form of service that has some of the same benefits without combat?

THIS! I saw a Don Draper meme here that's been sticking with me. "What do women REALLY want?" says Don, "Who cares?" says the silvery haired guy. It seems on its face misogynistic, but I think it's a good philosophy in general. Of course we are like Don, in that we want to understand people, but at a certain point, when the world sounds totally crazy, you just need to take a sip of whisky and say "who cares?"

Joshua Tree this week couldn't come soon enough. I have such a hard time disconnecting from my addiction to getting things done, but I'm gonna let go fully this time.

A lot of great thinkers dating back to Aristotle agree with you! He believed friendship was the highest form of our potential. That's why we're called Team Friendship. Love has some codependence built into it, as a concept. If your mother "loves" you, she won't let you hurt. If you love your wife, you'll never love another woman. Friendship can be more independent, since all of the support is voluntary and there's no artificial commitment device attached. When do you think friendship becomes bro…

Being a victim or a shit talker is an easy way to get attention (I know how well it works working in the social media space), but I'm still glad my brain doesn't work that way. When I see a guy like Rudy, or Ra or Troy Casey or a lot of these instagram guys in the video, my brain gets excited, I'm like "holy shit, THAT'S POSSIBLE, at that age...I want that." I can laugh at them too, but I'm attracted to greatness in any form. I guess in order to be threatened by people like that, you have to bel…

Great friend! We did a video on butthole sunning with him that might explain why so many people accused us of being gay hahah. But come on! That shit's funny. https://youtu.be/JQ34Tf1nsQc

I can think of so many examples when groups of men go off the rails, become politicized, or are generally outlawed. Female-only subreddits, meetups, and gyms remain popular, but the thought of making a men-only anything is taboo. Even groups like the Elks and Masons remain mysterious and controversial. My buddy and I did a short documentary on a fairly harmless group of gym guys who meet up in Venice to do ice baths and breath work, and I was shocked by the comments. We've never had a more contr…

Good to know! I do a lot of handyman work, but I tend to avoid electrical, maybe I'll do another deep dive on it for simple fixes like that.

This is great advice! Thanks. I feel like when you live the life you want, people are more interested in you anyway. Win-win.

Yeah but then those groups get radicalized and shut down since they don't have any human, face-to-face element and social feedback to keep them somewhat normative. Just look at what's happening with quarantining on Reddit. I think guys who like themselves and their masculinity need to be loud and proud, and "come out of the closet." it's weird that straight white men are now learning from minority groups of the past on how to gain acceptance! But I like the challenge of it.

Yeah, why doesn't "FEMALE IN STEM" extend to electricians! Probably because being an electrician can kill you, it almost happened to me when I tried to change a light fixture with the switch on. Glad you all are unionizing though, and much respect for picking such a challenging career.

I love sports, and I've tried a few adult leagues that I like. I find that men in competition are pretty one-dimensional though. A game of pick-up helps you relate to men in one way, but you're not going to open up about your struggles afterwards. The man tribe's really the only group outside of AA that offers that, and it's the only group I know of that focuses specifically on men. You bring up a great point though, I think we do live in a world where female-ruled is normal (school, clubs, many…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
