7	Meeting the parents There are very few chain stores in Vermont - they really value locally owned small businesses and there is a lot of pushback against any stores like Walmart or Dollar General. So I think bringing something that is unique to your country or region would be well-appreciated, whether that's a tasteful decoration for their home or some kind of food item that you can safely bring.
