The conference looks to be a gathering of professionals, not a gathering of clients, unless I have misunderstood. Both genders should absolutely be present at functions whose purpose is to brainstorm solutions and form professional networks to combat the problem. He was apparently suffering from psychosis at the time of the triple homicide. I find it interesting that it's taken this long for CBC news to pick this up. I took a forensic psych class from Don Dutton as an undergrad at UBC three years ago (including a great deal of content on male victims, as well as violence in gay and lesbian couples), and he's published research on male DV victims (among other things) for at least a decade. 4	A Welsh women's aid branch is changing its name to reflect the fact it is helping an increasing number of men. I'm currently looking for a job and in scouring the online classifieds, I've come across a lot of employment ads from women's shelters. A couple local ones go out of their way to specify that you must subscribe to and be able to articulate a feminist analysis of violence against women. I am currently taking one (I needed 3 night courses, it was the only one that would fit), and although I really dislike it, it does not espouse radical feminism. I was about to say there wasn't any male bashing, and then I remembered that the prof made a joke about how men suck at washing dishes, etc, which, had the genders been reversed, and had it been a joke about how women couldn't drive, the classroom would have been up in arms. Many US states have mandatory arrest laws, which are not in the best interest of either a) innocent men or b) women who actually have been victimized by their partners. The 'treatments' they have for domestic violence are also ineffective, especially if the wrong partner was arrested, obviously. 4	What color is your prostate? I actually think that de-stigmatizing the screening procedures for prostate and colorectal cancers might be a pretty big help. Social networking sites might be useful in helping to move in that direction if a little thought was put into it.
