Because cohabitating couples go into living together with an "this is just to try the other person out" ethic, which steeps into marriage and is generally a bad ethic to go into a marriage with. Divorce is the not the only form of marital failure. Abuse, shame culture, collectivist attitudes (in-law bullying, lack of marital choice) are all common in cultures that practice arranged marriages (and I'd argue it's in great part what holds those low divorce rates together).

Couple things here. I like that dudes generally tell it as is. Less faux compliments, less beating around the bush, less fear of insulting the other. hen I ask my guy friends for advice, they offer logical (potential) solutions and advice as opposed to just being merely an ear to vent to. It's refreshing. They tend to be less interested in gossip. A general interest in things and how they work as opposed to in people and what they're doing.
