I don’t think I’ve ever visited that sub, or looked at that content, but just from the name I think it seems like something I wouldn’t like. Probably cancer/garbage, please don’t associate this type of content with feminists in general! Anything that is dismissive of other peoples views and feelings, and creates an ‘us and them’ mentality is unhelpful, looks like what a lot of the content on that sub would probably be! I think we all just need to be more empathetic, more respectful of each other…

Well said! It sucks, I feel like the feminist movement has been hijacked by a bunch of “mainstream” feminists, like Clementine Ford, who are really poor advocates and actually to some degree harmful for the movement - don’t get me wrong, a lot of her social analysis is really sound, but she’s condescending and disdainful as hell towards men, and I think it’s really unhelpful. Feminism relies on having men as allies, and she puts them all off - not even because of a lot of her core beliefs, but t…

Feminism in essence just advocates for equalism, noting that both women and men are harmed by patriarchal society. In a patriarchal society, men are often are expected to be the physical labourers, the sole bread winners, hold down stressful jobs, all while remaining stoic about it, so as to not worry their partner & children. Feminism advocates for men sharing their feelings, and women sharing the lo…

It’s not even about the ring. Sounds like she’s not a person who is overly materialistic, or has many material demands. He should see that this is important to her, because it’s out of character, and at least try and understand why, so they can find some common ground. I don’t always think the things that my partner thinks are important are important, but if they are important to him, I can respect that and at the end of the day I want him to be happy and feel valued. The part at the end where h…
