After the 2nd trimester (AFAIK) the baby is pretty much completely formed and just grows through the last trimester. Also (AFAIK) they can do the DNA test by taking the amniotic fluid instead of from the baby itself...but even if they need to take it from the baby, it's relatively safe in the 3rd trimester. If I'm wrong about any of this, I hope someone corrects me.

I don't know about Implanon, but my sister had the Norplant years ago. When she had it removed so she and my bro-in-law could have my nephew, it destroyed her metabolism and she when from about 98lbs to over 200lbs in the blink of an eye. There are plenty of couples out there that can't conceive and are fully willing and able to pay for all aspects of birth, adoption costs and the hospital stay. If the man does not want the child, he should have the ability to opt of out support. Since the man does not have any decision over whether or not to abort the child, the woman (and especially not the State) should not have any decision over whether or not the man has to support the child.
