Insulin doesn't matter for the average person. Maybe if you have diabetes, or plan on using insulin to be a professional bodybuilder. Calorie Deficit = Weight Loss Calorie Surplus = Weight Gain You can't truthfully tell me you won't gain weight if you eat at a calorie surplus but of all healthy foods. Just because you eat "healthy foods" doesn't mean you body will magically start stripping fat and adding muscle.

I think you might be taking lifting a little too seriously if you're not competing as a bodybuilder/powerlifter. You said you don't want to drink because you'll lose gains, that a little over the top. Here's an article on alcohol and lifting. Anyway, I'd suggest finding a new hobby or getting a summer job so you can socialize and meet people. You like working out so do a cycling class or something at your gym and strike up conversations.
