non-trans works No, that's rude towards trans* people. I'm sorry, but trans* people get so much discrimination, and there are so many identities that are neither cis nor trans (agender, gender fluid)....don't fight that battle. It's a stupid battle.

Hi there confused 14 year old boy! Allow me to break it down: Feminism is as diverse as any other group. They've got their moderates, extremists, and anything else on that spectrum. They range from "Well, there are some issues relating to women that are important to me, and I'm going to try to help that! :)" to "All men are rapists and should be castrated." Look at the bad parts and judge those groups in relation to feminism as you would use the KKK to think about white people. That's not a good…

I feel like this question should get asked to a few feminist groups, just to see what that side thinks. I mean, both men AND women were locked into their roles. It's not like a man could choose to take care of the kids, at least not without getting ridiculed. I guess the question really boils down to which role sucked more, right? I dunno. What do you guys think?

They...they don't, probably. I mean, this woman's clearly a complete nutcase. "I am #1 and will always come first! You will spoil me and sower me with lavish gifts because I deserve it and just because I say so." To put it crudely (and I apologize), she's fucking insane. Everyone on the thread agrees with that fact. I don't think anyone in their right mind thinks that it's okay to think that way. I don't think this is a Men's Rights issue. A man demanding this stuff would garner the same reactio…

Honestly? I sorta think you are. I mean, I don't think it's worth wasting energy getting offended by this. I don't really know what it intends to say, though if I had to hazard a guess I guess it's basically...okay I made it that far and I have no idea what to finish that sentence with. It's like...okay, yeah, cool. A guy has had sex multiple times. And this woman hasn't... Okay? I don't really think it makes much of a point, if it makes a point at all...I don't even know what's going on there.

Thanks, man. I know, and I've been told that many times. But sometimes, it's just really hard to think like that when everything seems to be in the shithole. But thank you, though. Hearing it honestly helps. :) Have an upvote. I wish I could give more.

I am, trust me. Currently working with a therapist and taking anti-depression meds, and that's helping. (apparently just not enough) The issue is that when I tried going to the next dose up I had a really nasty anxiety attack, the worst one in years, so I dropped back down. :/ But trust me, I'm working on it.

*sees title of article* *closes window* Fuck that shit I'm fucking done. I am so completely, utterly, done. "Why men are never depressed", what fucking bullshit. Yeah, of course. My fairly constant suicidal thoughts and how I often sink into states of despondency and immense anxiety (complemented by the fact that I enter a state of pure flight-or-flight mentality, which is also nice), of COURSE that's not depression. Obviously. Fuck this, man. I'm out. That's bullshit.

Uhh...you cut out the rest of the post. You know, letssaynotonormal's comment. The one that was completely destroying those first comments? Here's the link: http://letssaynotonormal.tumblr.com/post/33176734362/pixierose1-pussyharvest-danielmcbatman It's really nice, to be honest, and it's getting a really good reaction from tumblr in general.

I dunno, to be honest. Check out this comment here, as well as the entire thread that the comment was posted on. It really upset me, to such a degree that I unsubscribed from /r/MR for a few weeks. Lost faith in the community. Trust me, we have our assholes, and they're extremely present on that thread.

Check out this comment here: http://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/zop7o/a_disturbing_look_on_what_life_can_be_like_as_a/c66lwt3?context=3 That entire thread really just depressed me. Made me unsubscribe from /r/MR for a few weeks while I waited to get over it. I wish I could say we're as innocent as I'd hope we are, but it doesn't appear that's true.

Cis initially wasn't negative (I believe). From my knowledge, as far as that goes, I believe that it was a way to differentiate between trans* and non-trans* without defining it as "Trans*" and "Normal". I guess that's basically the idea of it. Hope that helps.
/r/MensRights09/10/12 12:23 PM

Nah, I totally agree with you on that. If somebody's MTF, just refer to them using female pronouns, if they're FTM, refer to them using male pronouns. Referring to a blatantly cis person as cis is just stupid, and honestly, kind of offensive.

Christ, the amount of transphobia lower down on this thread is really upsetting to me. Please, people, why? What's wrong with accepting that this person's a woman? What's wrong with that, tell me, please. One of my close friends is FTM. He told me about how sometimes when he feels particularly brave, he goes into the men's room when there's nobody in there. Now, I don't know enough about this trans woman in question to give a full analysis, but she very well might have only recently gained the c…

To be honest, I've seen a good bit of anti-trans sentiment here as well. Even in this thread, I think. It's really quite upsetting to me :/

To be completely honest, I have a few trans* friends, and it's actually a common way to define the difference. Trans* vs cis. I dunno. It makes sense to me, and it's used by enough trans* people (at least the ones in my friend group) that it doesn't come off as offensive to me. But that's just my experience.

Equal rights Radical Feminism Choose one FTFY Not all feminism is bad. Women don't have it perfect. Anybody who claims as such is as bad as people who go "Oh but what about the mens" (in a sarcastic mocking way). Why is your comment getting upvoted?

I wish I could tell more of the story, honestly, I really do, but that's all I heard. "Some of my friends have been attacked by radfems for being trans*" was all I have. :/ I assume it's MTF that she was referring to, though. (sex: male; gender: female)
/r/MensRights07/09/12 12:35 AM

Actually, I can't give any sources (sorry), but many of my friends tell me about how their trans* friends get attacked by people they refer to as "radfems" (radical feminists) (a term we should really use more here, just saying, to differentiate the /reasonable/ feminists and the...other feminsts). I wouldn't put trans* people that high up.
/r/MensRights07/09/12 12:06 AM

Oh, sorry. It didn't seem like that to me. It came across as "Well, if you're on the fence about this, here's a reason to side this way instead of the other".

Was about to say that. In the middle of a struggle with anxiety-based depression, and I can say that many times I've been close to...well, let's really not say that it's not life threatening.

Now this, man, this is good stuff. I really don't like the idea of just letting a guy nope out of support whenever, but I feel like this covers enough bases to feel legitimately realistic.

Yeah, this false accusation business is like walking on eggshells towards a pot of gold. If we deal with it poorly, a bunch of good people are going to get horribly hurt, and if we don't deal with it, well, pretty much the same. I feel like we should open up a whole thread for suggestions, maybe invite somebody from /r/law to make sure we're not fucking up too badly. And maybe, just maybe invite /r/feminism, just to see if they'd be willing to help.

But using rape as the topic of a joke implies quite heavily that there is something funny, something laughable about rape, right?
/r/MensRights18/07/12 04:54 PM

These are my beliefs. I'm saying that siding with my beliefs will have the added effect of looking better. But siding with "lol rape is funny" is not going to help anybody.

I'm downvoting, and here's why. Imagine if this was the opposite situation. A female comedian makes a female on male rape joke, a man stands up "Hey, that's not even fucking funny. Don't make light of rape." She responds "Hey, wouldn't it be funny if he got raped right now?" or even "What are you talking about, men can't get raped!" The entire subreddit would be up in fucking arms about it. I don't think this is something we want to get behind. Men's Rights already looks really bad, and many vie…

The Men's Rights tag has like 20 posts in it, all in all, 7 of them being anti-Men's Rights posts. It's annoying as hell.
/r/MensRights13/07/12 03:04 PM

Yeah, that's the biggest reason I got really annoyed by this picture. It made me really, really angry that the idea of putting up a "men's studies" class is being put as an equally bad thing to racist jokes or making light of rape. Just...nO.

When did I speak against MRAs? I consider myself an MRA. I'm speaking from what I've seen on the subreddit. We often call out /r/feminism for ignoring the existence of men's issues. Where's the trouble in acquiescing that women have issues too?
/r/MensRights30/06/12 09:24 PM

High School Senior, in fact. And I never said that feminists and women have it right. I'm just saying that I'm pleased how MRAs are willing to accept that women do not have perfect lives. Looking at your account, you don't appear to be a troll, just a bit of an ass. I think we're done here. I'm not gonna respond to the rest of the comments you make on this thread, and I'm not going to downvote anything you say. I thought /r/MensRights prided itself in egalitarianism, that women have problems as well as men, and that disregarding the other is one of the problems we have with the feminist movement. Don't be that guy, TerriChris. Please don't.
/r/MensRights30/06/12 04:49 PM

Well, I decided to post this here because I'd get one viewpoint, very conservative in listing the problems. I'm considering creating a throwaway and asking the reverse question in/r/feminism, though. My assumption is that it's likely to get downvoted to oblivion. My hope is that it doesn't, though, which would really restore some faith in the feminist movement. I was honestly quite pleased that so many MRAs could give nice answers, and that this thread could garner 31 comments. Well, thanks for …

Hahahaha no. I'm pretty sure I'm not asexual. I want sex as much as anyone else, I just hold the idea that it should be something a lot more special than it's generally considered to be these days. As a virgin, I can't make any final decisions. But for at least 6 months of a relationship, sex is a no-no :P And even then. I would much rather cuddle with my gf (not that there's much chance of that, freaking LDR :/) But yeah. I don't think I'm asexual. I just hold sorta "antiquated" views on sexual…

I'm stunned. I honestly didn't believe there was any other person out there who would prefer a romantic partner over a friend with benefits. I'm a straight male, and I know how that feels (to a much lesser degree, obviously). Sitting in the common area of my high school class, I hear about people hooking up left and right. I'm the same way as you on that thought process. You've helped me restore some faith in humanity. Even though this wasn't the main point of the post, I'm glad. -internet hug-
