The Surrendered Wife and Love and Respect: The Love She Most Desires, The Respect He Desperately Needs. Both excellent reads but definitely not to help her husband "man up" by any means. That's the wrong mentality to have when trying to improve her marriage and only demonstrates another form of manipulation and control. She should focus on bettering herself and positively impacting her relationship through her own growth and respect for her husband.

I meant since I won't have a job right away to support myself, but I see what you mean. Engagement is out of the question until we aren't LDR for a bit, which I think is understandable. But it's a bit of a predicament for me.

I'm not sure how the mods could reject anybody with the name vagina_rollercoaster :) Too funny! Also, congrats on all the forward progress. This sub is truly wonderful.

This! Last sentence is a nice summary of RPW in general.

Will do, thank you! I always do my makeup and style my hair, but my wardrobe has sadly fallen behind. I dislike most modern fashion (the baggy, boho look is so not me). I definitely prefer form-fitting tops that flatter my shape but aren't too over-the-top. As for dresses, I don't look very good in them without heels, so I tend to only wear them when required :) I really appreciate all the info - looking forward to shopping soon!

Thank you! I will check all of these out. :) My only concern is looking like I'm wearing a costume or trying too hard. I tend to have a more casual style, so modcloth is probably the closest, but their stuff looks a bit young to me lately. I'd really love to find a balance and up the feminine wow factor!

Yeah, not gonna lie, my SO sent me screenshots from that reddit post because we have a big running joke about buttholes... Needless to say, we're goofy and we like it that way ;). Being feminine is essential, but that's a broad term and won't mean the same thing for everyone. Don't forget to be yourself and don't let being feminine equate to being boring and not engaging with your man the way he likes. Mine likes a lot of goofiness, banter, and definitely some playful sass.

If I go the route of reapplying, I will definitely call the school to see where I went wrong and could have done better. Thank you!

These are all very good things to think about. I'm trying to defer to his advice while still doing what you suggest in your last edit. I think the point of this might be to force me into defining who I want to be and making a hard choice. I'm not quite clear on what my options are, but it's certainly making my priorities stand out. I've actually watched that TED talk before, but I'm about to watch it again right now! Thank you! You guys are all so helpful, I really appreciate it. I feel a bit al…

Thank you for your kind words :) The visiting would have to be mostly, if not all, him -- he has long weekends, and my rigorous school schedule probably wouldn't allow me much vacation beyond the holidays. I'll also be temporarily broke, so there's that. He said we'd plan visits when we could. Before he moved to be with me, our original plan was for me to get a job out there through a placement agency. It never panned out, but that doesn't mean I can't try again. I'll definitely update you guys …

He isn't sure he wants children and is probably leaning against them, and definitely not anytime soon. All we know is we want a life together. I told him today I was willing to sacrifice my career to ensure our relationship is the priority and to support his. I'll be working -- he can't fully support me right now, and I don't expect him to, so taking a break isn't really an option. I either need a job or to be pursuing a degree leading to one. Honestly, I wouldn't mind just moving to him and wor…

They don't offer funding unfortunately, and I'm not looking to pursue a PhD. I also don't think I'm qualified to apply. I really wanted to get working in the field as soon as I could.

I'm 26, and I'm trying to get into User Experience Design with a master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction. I have no direct experience, but I leveraged what I do have with my current job (at a very well-known gov agency) to the best of my ability. I hear what you're saying -- you pretty much covered all my fears. If I could move tomorrow, I would, for all these reasons. I know tangible steps toward being together again are important to him too. Problem is I'd be quitting my well-paying job …

I second the sucking his dick or even giving a good ol' sensual handjob every now and again. Men love a woman's soft hands. I also highly recommend Rephresh vaginal gel. It's expensive but helps me so much that it's easily worth it!

Just wanted to say this sounds great too! Kind of like Weight Watchers? I think whatever diet works, promotes consistency, and improves the dieter's relationship with food is the best option :)

"Eat more protein" is technically relative, depending on what the dieter ate before, but generally you're replacing carbs with fat - the protein is held to moderate levels that most people would already be getting on a normal diet and then you eat fat until satiated. For the well-trained athlete, carbs can be useful when used properly, but plenty of athletes use keto and train low-carb. And the advice was being given for OP, who I'd argue carbs aren't helping much for her weight loss. All that t…

No worries at all! Sorry if I sounded disrespectful to your views myself, definitely not my intent. The internet is no good for conveying tone. I'm passionate about the topic as well :)

Came back to write these exact sentiments, but Phantom says it much more eloquently than I could! Please reread this a few times and really think about what we're all here to do: work on our self-improvement and secure/maintain healthy, committed, loving relationships. In your case, I'd say taking a break from drinking would help you accomplish both.

Interesting where I'm from is pretty clear for "stupid" haha. That southern lady charm. But seriously, whatever works for people and makes them feel healthy is awesome, so sorry if I sound biased. At the very least I wanted to clear up what keto is about since it's helped me personally so much and changed the way I view nutrition as a whole. To each her own :) Edit: I think you edited your comment so my first sentence makes less sense now.. Interesting!

That's not actually true. Keto is based on low carb, moderate protein, and high fat. The goal definitely isn't to get you to "eat more protein" as too much protein isn't good either. You can dislike that it demonizes a macronutrient, but it doesn't change the fact that carbs aren't good for you. Obviously calorie control is important in any diet as well. I'd recommend checking out the keto subreddit and researching the topic yourself, OP. It's worth a look!

Why not just stop drinking altogether? Just curious.

Have to kindly disagree. Strive for low carb. Check out keto and the keto subreddit. Yes, eating less processed foods is great, but low carb is really the key. My brother lost over 100 pounds in six months on keto, and I love it. Highly recommend!

I'm going to risk getting blasted and say Andre Nickatina's "She Like 2 Say". It's awesome, and sort of my personal RPW theme song, haha. Pretty dirty, and I'm not actually into calling my SO "daddy" (because weird!) but the principles behind the lyrics are pretty spot-on to me. Plus my SO introduced me to his music, so it always makes me think of him :) Opposite end of the spectrum: Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man". Equally awesome.

I'd recommend reading "The Surrendered Wife," particularly the chapter on handing over the finances. You were on the right track when you let go of managing the money, but when he didn't immediately succeed (and honestly why would you expect him to with his background?), you gave up and swooped in to save the day. What does this show him? (1) That you don't really have confidence he can do it and (2) that he doesn't have to be responsible financially because you'll do it for him. If you truly le…

It's a respect versus love thing. Men need respect, women need love. You're showing appreciation and admiration for his place in your life instead of focusing solely on the love you feel for him. You're learning to speak his language, so good job :)

Seconding all the points here. If your man can't be logical and reasoned with, well, I'd be extremely uncomfortable (and not attracted) as well. We look for leadership and guidance from our men; reversing the roles on such a basic issue is bound to cause friction and hinder the relationship. Keto is amazing. Quickest results and a real lifestyle change.

I try not to assume, and honestly we're typically most blind to our own errors. So, if anything, as a rule I assume the women here haven't thought of all the ways they could improve a situation themselves. Just my approach :). Even your wording with "she's already throwing him into a more beta category" to me indicates this is something she could potentially change on her end before involving her SO. She's choosing to put him in that mental category. It's a frame of mind and attitude change. I d…

I'd advise against this advice, personally. This is more of a last step to me. If you can avoid verbalizing your issue to him and thus avoid critiquing him, you should. As another user said, an attitude change on your part is much easier for the time being and much less likely to cause any negative effects on your relationship. If this issue continues for many months, after his work stress is over, then maybe you could gently approach the subject if you still felt strongly about it. I also don't…

No problem! I'm glad to finally be doing my part to give back. I really love this community and all the value it's adding to my life. And I couldn't agree more with that last part. Honestly, I'd say you should hit the ground running with your self-improvement and new RP knowledge, and I really do think you'll see change sooner than you think :)

I'm going to take a shot at giving you some RPW advice based on my own experiences. I'm relatively new to this sub, but I've seen phenomenal results from my brief time lurking here and as a RPW. I was much like you in every aspect you describe. My relationship with my SO started off very naturally RP without much effort on my part, although I didn't realize it at the time and would have balked at the thought. I adored him from the moment we met, and we fell in love over the course of our long-di…
