I really hope this is just a made up story/creative writing exercise.. I think there's a lot of that going on.

Another good one (which I have used): I can offer condoms or abstinence as birth control. The condoms are in the bedside drawer and the abstinence is out on the front lawn.

Or your daughter, or son. This is what finally made me break up with MY alcoholic ex. I actually told my kids that too. "I am dumping him, because if you came to me with this? I would tell you to run. And I want you to know that you can always come to me if you find yourself in this situation."

This. I have 3 kids and I'm making it work over here. It took some time, but I'm happier and the kids are doing beautifully.

I'm very funny, I'm smart. I write extremely well. I'm passionate about raising good children and showing them how to have boundaries, be emotionally healthy and kind to others. I can do anything I put my mind to - including a lot of things I don't know much about. Like, I can almost immediately see the right way to do things that I have never done before. I am not afraid to share how I feel. I am bold. I am someone who has big feelings and dreams for my future. I am not afraid to admit when I a…

They somehow think "I am incapable of simple tasks" reads better than "I am a narcissistic liar".

This drives me bananas. Or another variant: they message, I message back that I don't date younger guys, they message "BUT WAIT! MY PROFILE IS WRONG AND I'M ACTUALLY 52 NOT 32! I couldn't change it..".

All of the above! I wanted to match with him just to tell him off, but maybe someone else will do that on my behalf..

Thank you. It took a lot of guts on my part to end it, but it was the right thing to do. She's a German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP). They are beautiful dogs - really athletic, but also devoted family pets who do very well with kids. They're bred to be bird dogs, so they need lots of mental stimulation, running, and outdoor time. I've known a few and she's going to fit in beautifully. Her name will be Kodak. The countdown is on.. !

I've been single since March, when I dumped my alcoholic ex bf. Since then, I took my kids on a huge roadtrip across the north eastern USA. We camped the whole way and saw whatever we wanted to see. The kids were driving with me in the car last night, and my oldest (18m) said, "Hey, remember this song? It reminds me of our trip. Can you believe we walked over the Brooklyn Bridge?". And I can hardly believe it! We did amazing things, and I want my kids to know that they can. I'm also getting a pu…

This ended up longer than intended, but it was a really good question that I haven't stopped to answer until now. I was raised by my mother and stepfather (although I never knew my birth father). My mother left my biological father when I was two and in a contested divorce, he sold his parental rights for her share of the business they owned. I was adopted by my mom's new husband, and all was sort of well.. in a way. Except, that no one ever talked about my biological father - at all. The only t…

There are plenty of fat, good looking men out there. To each their own, but they aren't mutually exclusive to everyone.

Most dudes who do this are weirdos - agreed. The hun business from message one is obnoxious. But I think maybe this particular guy = English is his second language. His phrasing and word choices are awkward throughout.

I went out on a first date with someone who was at the top of my age limit about 5 years ago. But, he seemed interesting enough that I was willing to meet up - kind of a hotshot local documentary filmmaker, we had a bunch of mutual friends in common, etc. Dude had literally just gotten dumped after a long relationship. So, we have an interesting conversation - history, music, art, writing, film, etc. I wasn't really feeling it in terms of romance, but enjoyed the talk. Suddenly, he's like, "Well…

I'm done with tolerating low effort from my male coworkers. I'm done with my boss's boss telling people who I have nothing to do with and have nothing to do with me that "OH, L will help you with that!" even when it is not my job. Because no one can seem to take care of themselves. I'm done with tolerating being treated worse than a stranger by my father and brother. I'm totally done with my dad who has the nerve to say, "I've always been this way and can't change." NO. You're unwilling, not una…

My ex bf (in the middle of an alcoholic rage, as I was leaving him), "This is why low class and high class people shouldn't mix." My father was there, as were 3 police officers. They all looked at me as he slammed the door and said some version of, "he's right in a way, but not how he thinks."

Yes, I had this too. He was very fond of an innocent "sweet" (but sexy) version of me and needed constant companionship. And I'm really not sweet, not in that way. It felt infantilizing. But somehow, it was easier to accept than common decency.

So, I've been a bunch of dates with a guy who seems like an ACTUAL (not facetious) nice guy. Like, he brought flowers, loaded my dishwasher, liked my house and said nice things, asks about my day and cares about the answer, keeps in touch, thanked me for opening up about some stuff... I find it so disconcerting and odd, it verges on "off-putting". I have to get a friend's outside opinion on the dude because it's so uncommon and weird to me. And I'm attracted to him on one level, but it's so fore…
