While this is true for people like you and me, others have a different mental capacity. Hence why to you suicide is a joke but to others with families who plead and beg still end up in the dirt. I think analogies tend to stick with people more often then an exact description. Imagine your mental frame being a castle. You decide when to draw the bridge, when to allow something in, and when to cast something out. People can shout, throw rocks, call your castle shit, beg to come in, etc., but ultimately it’s your castle. If you find weakness in your castle, fortify it and move on. Eventually your castle will stand tall and detached from the outside, and you can relish at what’s inside.

I only approach cold, and usually outside of the standard bar scene as you’re not going to find the diamond in the rough. The worst thing that can happen is they say no or call you weird bro. It’s not weird to shoot your shot, it’s only weird if you’re ugly.

my only advice would be to stay away from anything that is written by anyone beyond the 3 professions i listed. While I don’t mean to discredit those without the specific degrees, bias rears it’s head heavily outside of peer reviewed sources.

World History Post 1500 or? World history before it had significant prominence in China, while Post 1500 had a majority of “importance” in Europe. There are thousands of books, and i would advise you to stay away from any not written by a Historian or Archeologist. (edit: Paleontologist is fine as well.)
