If she's doing this she already doesn't.

Even this is terribly generous.

Depends on where - some places don’t do annulments - but yes.

told me that she wants to continue the divorce process while also moving out BUT if I show her during that time that I’ve changed she would consider staying even after filing for a divorce Fuck all that. Changed what? You've been married four months. Unless you've picked up a crippling heroin addiction, gambling problem or something similarly catastrophic there isn't much changing to do between the altar and here. She was probably having second thoughts about marrying you in the first place, and…

No. But she can dream up some domestic violence allegations and have the courts do that. You’ll find plenty of information here from others on what that is like and how to avoid it (and you should avoid it at almost any cost). Be courteous and civil. Pay attention to whether you are in a one-party or two-party recording state.

I put the lawyer on pause (didn't get any real advice), with the idea that I only want to spend money on one professional (mediator). So I've only been talking to the mediator as my advisor. IMO this is a mistake. The mediator is there to get a deal, not necessarily a fair or equitable one, and does not dispense legal advice in either case.

Harassing new gf is a pretty easy layup for a restraining order. Anything that could make you or gf seem like an aggressor (or even a coequal participant) is something to avoid.

Am I the asshole for selling the house now, or for charging 3%interest ( it’s 6% now if you got a loan) on the 450k that she would owe me if for every month she stays there. The yield on a 10-year US Treasury bond is around 4.15% with effectively zero risk, not to mention that you could sell the bond itself at almost any time. A house is a fixed illiquid asset, expensive to sell, subject to costly maintenance and repair. Who pays the contractors if the toilet floods the entire basement and the w…

Hire an attorney. Have the papers ready to go if they are needed. Protect your assets. Try to work on the marriage. Don’t compromise yourself and who you are for it.

"Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind". She says she still loves me, but isn't in love with me, so I think there will be a level of respect as we go through the process. She is deluding herself if she thinks it will be anything like it was if she decides to come back. Look at this from just today: https://www.reddit.com/r/Divorce_Men/comments/1avsmrb/ex_wife_showed_her_true_colors/ although I was willing to work on it, she's calling it quits and doesn't want to settle for a…

Something someone (ideally not you) should maybe explain to her - if she will listen - is that the tenor of your relationship will change dramatically during divorce proceedings. Divorce takes a positive sum game and makes it zero or negative sum. It is an adversarial legal proceeding. You won’t be there for her. She might come back to you, but by then so much will likely have been said and done that you probably won’t want it. And most other men wouldn’t blame you.

> I’m afraid that if I ask for a divorce the court will see it as I’m trying to leave my sick wife and not I’m leaving my hateful love less wife and give her everything I have and make me pay for her till I’m dead. Any advice or legal thoughts? Not sure where you live but most courts won’t care, or aren’t supposed to. This is the whole point of no fault divorce. It enables a lot of ugly behavior (“spouse has stage four cancer; time to bail”) but also covers in situations like yours. You don’t ne…

As others have said: this is tricky. If it was granted (not vested!) prior to marriage it may be only yours. A good attorney should be able to recommend a CPA who is also good and will testify if required.

As someone who gets way more interest on dating apps than he has time for: I understand where you are coming from. It's flattering to have fifty people all want to message and/or meet you. At the same time, I've probably missed more than a few good connections, maybe a potential partner, because I couldn't respond or follow up in time. I don't feel good about it, because I've been on the other end of that before. But it's exhausting and overwhelming with that much clamor for your attention. At t…

Fix up your knee. Make your money. Live your life. Don't give people things they aren't willing to get for themselves, was my lesson.

About a year, now. You have to begin focusing on the future you will have, not the one you were.

Anyway, she has now turned it into me blaming her for it happening Yeah, no. She played a stupid game and she won a stupid prize, and she didn't need you to do it. Yes, the guy who assaulted her is a criminal dirtbag who deserves prison, if that actually transpired. You weren't there and you've probably never met this person. "I was assaulted because I cheated on my husband because I don't like my relationship with him" conveniently and incorrectly shifts all the accountability over to you. And …

I spent a lot of time missing and mourning the future I'd imagined. Growing old together. Being a family. I still do, sometimes. It's gone.

Some of OP suggests they are not in the US so maybe there are greater disincentives to involve attorneys. Even so, though.

Avoid offering her things you think she will want, unless there is a contract attached with you getting something in return. She will ask for the things she wants anyway. If you offer her things she will ask for more. This is general advice for any adversarial negotiation of any kind, which is what you are in. Lose the idea that you are in a marriage with assumed reciprocity and goodwill. That is over.

You need to be extremely careful. DV allegations don't need to end in a guilty verdict to wreck your life.

And I feel for her, she hasn’t had an easy childhood and upbringing. This is neither your fault nor your responsibility. Lots of people have a difficult past, and lots of those don't treat their spouses this way. If you don't mind me asking: how often do these episodes occur? And what is her life outside the home?

This is more r/relationships than this sub. But: I have lots of faults and probably to blame for our marriage. You sure about that second part? Both parties are to blame in virtually any scenario. Should I ask her for a list of things she wants for me tj improve in order to be together? What does this mean? Let's say you improve those things. What are the next things after that? If she learns she can control your behavior by pouting and giving the silent treatment for weeks and months then she m…

However, a significant incident occurred in front of my parents, exposing them to what I’ve been enduring. What did they say about her behavior, and your relationship?

This sounds familiar. Familiar enough that I can't tell you what you should do, because "it depends". Going to therapy is a positive step that my ex-partner never made, or never made when it would have changed my mind. but wasn’t firm or explicit enough Be firm and explicit about what happens if things go back to the bad old days. Be clear about your misgivings around children, which I expect were precipitated by her behavior. Couples counseling is probably a good setting for this. Simple questi…

Twice is two times too many. How long do you think she’s been pondering this before saying it? It’s been over for a long time. Probably before you were married. This is just the funeral. Don’t waste any more of your time and money.

A friend told me that I would always wonder if I was doing the right thing. That I would always wonder if things might be good again if I went back, and that voice would never totally go away. He was right. She might come to her senses and regret it. But what then? Will she threaten divorce again during the next argument or emotional crisis? “Hey kids, mom threatened to split the family up because she was having a bad day but I promise she doesn’t really mean it. It’s not the first time.” I won’…
