I'm so confused... This is a perfectly acceptable definition of rape to me... Why is this a subject of outrage?

I feel as though it was posted here as a fuck-you to women. That's my opinion...and I understand why it's not a popular one around here.

Again, I think this is more appropriate for /r/abuse than /r/MensRights just because it's a case of isolated abuse as opposed to a large scale Men's Right's issue. For instance, would /r/Feminism (I don't know much about that subreddit, but I'll keep it linked for example) be an appropriate case for a female rape victim's story? Or /r/abuse ? It'd be /r/abuse What's posted here should reflect large-scale institutional/cultural issues, not just individual's stories. Just my honest opinion. (Which…

You are misinterpreting me. But I'm using language that not everyone would be familiar with. When I say a "lens of sexism" over it, I mean to express that all posts placed in this subreddit are asked to be viewed in a perspective of evaluating sexism (towards both men and women). When people look at stories of racial injustice I would say they are looking at the story with a "lens of racism" or "lens of racial injustice" because that's the perspective they are putting on it. Doesn't mean everyon…

It's a man suffering - so men's rights I'll give you that, because if he was a girl he wouldn't have dealt with issues in this situation. It's a custody issue - so men's rights I don't see how it's a custody issue. Dad wasn't mentioned anywhere in this post. It's an issue of assumed inherent female parenting prowess - so men's rights It would be if there were people outside the household looking in assuming female parenting prowess, but it's just mom's assuming their good moms, arrogant? Sure. B…

When I say a "lens of sexism" over it, I mean to express that all posts placed in this subreddit are asked to be viewed in a perspective of evaluating sexism (towards both men and women). edit adding this: Just like if you're reading an article highlighting racism, you put on a "lens of racism", it's just saying that you're attempting to look at it in an unbiased and enlightened view. I'm actually saying that MR is inherently anti-sexist, even though I used the word sexism. It's not that you ARE…

When I say a "lens of sexism" over it, I mean to express that all posts placed in this subreddit are asked to be viewed in a perspective of evaluating sexism (towards both men and women). Thus I don't know how else to interpret this other than it being an attack towards women in general. If placed elsewhere? Then I wouldn't be so touchy, but it was placed in /r/MensRights .

It's sexist because of where it was shared on /r/MensRights if this was shared on /r/abuse /r/WTF etc. it wouldn't. But it was shared on /r/MensRights which places an inherent lens of sexism over any issue submitted in it. What other conclusion would you take other than a man who is bitter towards women who were bitter and indifferent and abusive towards at least one man? Yes, it's a fucked up story. Yes, I feel for this dude. But this is the wrong subreddit in my opinion.

To be fair, this has nothing to do with mens rights, nothing to do with bigoted feminism, it's just pure misogyny. He had a shitty experience with women...so what? This has nothing to do with rights. It's just sexism.

Why is there a women's only car? Why should women feel a need for a women's only car? Why isn't there a men's only car? It's because men are more likely to be creepy/rapist/jerks right? Right? When confronted with the opportunity to be in a coed car or a women's only car, which would you take? What message do you think a women's only car sends women? Oh, the men here are dangerous. Stay away, segregate yourself.

The issue here for me isn't that women are getting their own special car. I believe that everyone deserves to feel safe and if is the only way they can do so, then that's alright. BUT This particular action isn't going to institute any long-term comfort. Just until they step off the train. Also, it just increases distrust of all men. It basically is just a band-aid on a bigger problem of gender inequality and unease. The sole reason why I don't support this is because this isn't a solution, just…

Aah, I understand, totally agree too. I had a deadbeat absent father, but my mom kept me in Boy Scouts and I think that helped a lot. Fire department after that was even more beneficial. I think too many guys sit inside playing video games than actively go out and try to find good role models and mentors. I've never had a problem finding good respectable gentlemen to look up to. They volunteered to go, not gonna lie, they are a pretty fucking small number of men in the country. 0.47% of the total population is active duty military from a really rough 4am-without-sleep crap-math-from-Wikipedia figure Honestly, that 0.47% is more manly then the rest of the country anyway. (Including the Women :P )

This needs so many more upvotes than I can give. We need better fraternal organizations in this country. I didn't really learn to "man-up" until I was 18 and joined a volunteer fire department. Best experience of my life. If I ever have kids I'm going to strongly encourage them to volunteer for a few years in high school as Fire or EMS personnel. Most men in middle/upper classes don't have to face any REAL responsibilities until they are out of college. Same for women. It's a shame.

To be fair, the law screws guys who aren't ready to be fathers, and women have options. I'm not talking about killing babies either. I'm talking about giving up babies to adoption. (Adoption rates are really high for newborns.) Men can't make that decision, actually...they have no say in that decision. Women do.

Man here disagreeing with you: Not true. Public appearance is important. I'd actually love to see more men putting down their video games and doing more volunteer work. I don't really play video games. I drive ambulances for a volunteer fire department for fun. (There are buttons and flashy lights...oh hell it's better than a video game :P ) I'd also love to get involved in more volunteer activities outside of work/school.

In the first two fields that's actually shifting towards equality, quickly. Considering how women have only had about <100yrs in which to catch up...it's going to be equal veryyyyyy quickly. (Comparably.) Politicians? That's not women's fault, it's also not men's fault, it's society's, of which women have ~50% of the vote. That means a lot of women are still voting for men. I'm going to guess that that'll change at the speed of government efficiency too.

Just to add support to #1 in your list. I'm instantly thinking of all of the initiatives to support women/girls in the sciences/math/tech fields in the US being funded by the government, while overall educations budgets decline. So think about this, is it really equal to give women boosts, while the government cuts everyone's funding? Equality in cuts, Inequality in additional support? I would have loved to go do some of those programs actually. Particularly the science based ones...

To be fair, this isn't about Australia. CNN posted this, about this country's situation. But thanks for pointing out how flawed we are. :P Opportunity to go to school depends entirely on personal economic standing in the US. After you get admitted.
