Definitely. Just stick to those teachings that are true to your direct experience. Shed the cultural fluff and find the inherent message. Some pointers for u/ZenitGG - Look for Advaita Vedanta / Rupert Spira / Ramana Maharshi. Spirituality is not about adding more stuff, but taking a step back and cutting down what's already has been accumulated.

You are on the right path. Only a wise person realizes soon enough that material pleasures have their limits and true peace and happiness lie inside. And that is why monks do what they do. The religious aspect is fine. I come from a Hindu background but after going full atheist for a while and then exploring spirituality from a blank slate, I've found that the core message of all religions after removing all the fluff is the same. I'm well equipped now to extract the information I need from any religion-based source :)
