The subject of whoever is staring at becomes the object. To avoid being an object, you stare back. That brings an active component to the interaction that cannot render you an object. Stare. And definitely not with a positive expression on your face. That makes them an "object" too, so to speak. When we look away we give them power. That's one view. Another option is to set a mental boundary with yourself that you are going to embody your sexuality and appearance without thinking of anyone stari…

Chances are he’s bored, lonely, and thinks he can get you to settle for him due to whatever shared history you once had. Absolutely. In some other rare cases they're just idealizing you (which is dehumanizing) because they can't stand to be with themselves without a fantasy. Once they have your attention and commitment they'll experience disillusionment because they can't know and experience true intimacy.

Honestly, I don't have male friends, especially not single ones. I don't text men often. Any man who initiates a "friendship" with me ALWAYS wants something more. In times where I didn't think that was the case, he ended up pulling something later on and taking me off guard. If they don't ask me out, they usually end up wanting me to take on their emotional labor and act as their therapist and I would let them in my pick-me validation-seeking days. No more. You have to add to my life to get my e…

To comment on the make-up guy: Think about why and how he decided that was a funny joke. Women wear makeup and men don't so it's funny, right? The more I've unpacked being a female in this society, the more I've realized the subtle abuse we take on a regular basis. Our society is absolutely traumatic for females. (Even more so for WOC). Yes we can enjoy make up, but women feeling unfeminine/wrong/gross without policing and correcting every inch of their body is something that happens to many, if…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
