Lol, I play guitar for a living. They'll approach you, but you're still expected to make all the moves. It's even worse because they expect you to be just as charasmatic off stage as on.

I'm the kind of "retard" who knows better than to use the word "retard," was raised (and currently lives) in the South, and has these kind of people for family members. Stereotypes exist for a reason, and ignoring them instead of confronting them because you think you're somehow above it is the reason they don't change. Perhaps you're the one who's ignorant.

Unless, of course, you live in the South where half the old population longs for the good 'ol days of bigotry and racism and spends their evenings with a bottle of whiskey on the porch with their shotgun.

I'm 24 and live in my parent's converted garage, 30 minutes outside of "the city." But I still approach. As long as you own it, nobody cares about your situat…

It could just be a "10,000 hours theory" thing. Perhaps it just hasn't clicked for you yet. You'll never find out if you just give up, though.

Think of it like running a marathon. You have to start small. Ask a stranger for the time, have a short conversation in a check out line, ask the cute girl at Best Buy to tell you about tablets, etc. There's nothing in life that you can be good at right out of the gate, so start small, then start pushing the boundaries one by one.
