I agree, although perhaps we may disagree on "disrespect" and the actions that should be taken. But no one should accept disrespect.

I’ve heard these assertions before and they’re just as questionable now as they’ve always been. This may sound like heresy, but men come in an equal libido set to women. I grant that male(testosterone/cock & ball-driven) sexuality is qualitatively different, from all we know. But most people have average sex drive, and a few have very high or very low. (Women are taught, with many powerful reinforcements, to hide their sex drive, so I can see why these myths pop up.) Many men, regardless of what…

Who likes casual sex but doesn’t love relationship sex, especially in the beginning? (Although I morally object to this, obstacles can & do present themselves to continued high-energy humping throughout a relationship, the biggest usually being the natural result of high-energy humping, children.)

those books are deeply, deeply 1) unrealistic 2) fucked up. sure, stroke stories are an objective good overall (not covering average writing quality.) but 50 Shades of Grey is a fanfic stroke story stre-e-e-etched into not just a novel, but a bleeding trilogy, for which the characters have nowhere near enough personality, charisma, relationship, emotional capacity or maturity. unfortunately it does accurately depict an abusive nonconsensual relationship in many ways. It would have been 10,000 ti…

Look, of course there are many, if not most, people who are exquisitely sensitive to their own needs and grievances and deaf, dumb and blind to those of others. It is the human condition. I could sit here and go head to head with you, citing the men who leave when their wives get cancer(whereas wives are less likely to leave, even when they’d been considering it, because “women caretake”) and other statistics that make women sound like the hurt party and men like the selfish ones. But in reality…

I have double bachelor’s degrees; my husband finished school but without a diploma. We’re both profoundly gifted with learning disabilities. We also both have physical disabilities, which we assist each other with. I admire my husband for so much, but the fact that he’s a hard worker, family-oriented, a clear and analytical thinker, and just extremely loving and kind come up over and over. I moved overseas to marry him and I’ve never regretted it; we’re not rich but we are very happy. Women are …

Oh I definitely think that works for women the same age. I’m more attracted to women who know themselves and what they want for sure. Men who don’t are gross to me, or maybe just stupid- why date a baby who will probably dump you once she settles into herself or wants to do things alone? So weird. And if she doesn’t dump you she’s probably codependent... very attractive.

I concur that beauty is both subjective and objective. Objective in that symmetrical, regular features that are well-proportioned are more pleasing than irregular features & the more regular they are the more attractive they are. Also objective in that good health typically is linked with attractiveness; full, shiny hair, clear, fresh skin and eyes, and other appearances of strong health are always more attractive than thin, dull hair, skin that is diseased or looks off, or eyes that are glazed …

"Toxic masculinity" refers not to shaming strong men for being masculine but to people shaming men who are different for being perceived as weak. Men who are gay, men who don't have girlfriends, men who are interested in intellectual, artistic or otherwise "non-masculine" pursuits, shy or goofy men in a world where "masculinity" is confident and serious. There are endless ways to (so-called) "fail" at doing masculinity right, and people(men and women alike) react very harshly. That is what is be…
