My blood pressure at its worst hit 196/136 around the time when my ex told me she wanted a divorce because “I wasn’t working enough” even though I had a near full time job while going back to school full time in the senior year of an intensive program (with a full time internship). With meds, exercise, and a better diet it’s down to 130/90 on average and I plan to keep making it get better. The amazing part to me still though is that she would rather I had risked death for a few more hours on a …

I kind of skimmed that and while I agree that the dating pool is not great after 40 I think this post really just beats around the bush as to the real root of the problem: marriage law and United States feminism. In order to get married as a man you risk: A. All of your assets. When I say all I really do mean it. Not as an exaggeration. You can lose more than half in a settlement and have an alimony/child support arrangement through no fault of your own that will lead you to lose everything. You…

I will say that I don’t tolerate the BS anymore and no longer simp for women post divorce. I can easily spot the ones now that are just wanting to take advantage of a man for “emotional validation” and give nothing in return. My outlook on it is - be an adult. We’re not teenagers. Some women are clearly using online dating like a carousel. That’s fine, I’ll take a ride, but if I’m on that ride I deserve respect. The moment I sense that it’s not there I’m out. They get upset when I break it off w…

It’s almost the same for me. I can play whatever video games I want for however long I want. I can watch and gamble on sports if I want to. The same with playing poker. I can go on vacations and do what I want to do which mostly involves eating good food, drinks, and relaxation. I don’t have to be surrounded by family and friends that I don’t enjoy the company of. All of it really boils down to the word of “freedom”. I think sometimes it’s easy to get bogged down in the less great parts of divor…

Lawyer up. It sucks but at some point she decided to use you as opposed to keep loving you. On the bright side of the coin, you make 6 figures. You’ll be okay long term if you can just weather the storm. I’m not sure about alimony but you can keep your wife’s health insurance during a separation. After a divorce typically a Cobra option would kick in that would be expensive as hell to keep or you would have to go with an ACA plan. I didn’t see anything about kids. If no kids, that will make this…

Eventually you just realize that you're fighting an unwinnable battle. You might as well be Don Quixote fighting a windmill or someone trying to stop the tides of the ocean. There comes a moment when you as a man realize that it doesn't matter what you do. At that point you have to realize that they've made their minds up and any effort you make won't change it. There's no point in fighting when the match is already over.

The wife you knew no longer exists. That was the main revelation that I had that helped me to move on when I started to hear the things she would say that just weren't her or the way she was acting that wasn't her at all either. In its place is a woman that has fully convinced herself that you were the root of all of her troubles. Remember the better times with your wife as you remember her and accept that your wife, for all intents and purposes, is dead and replaced by someone else. I know this…

This is why I'm just devoting myself to my work and throwing my energy into hobbies. I just don't think the odds are in our favor anymore to find decent women.

You got invited to a kids birthday party as a divorced male? We're not rare. Your access level after a divorce with friends you shared with your ex wife is. That's the sucky part of divorce, most people still involve the ex wife in their lives but the guy typically gets the boot.

I was in a similar situation. It's kind of hilarious that for hundreds of years in couples where men were the higher earners we made it work and were perfectly happy that our spouses were at home or making less money - it never matters to men. Yet with women they view it as somehow innately offensive. They will act out when this dynamic occurs, often doing what you're describing - making you work yourself to death and she keeps all the money even though it doesn't matter how hard you work in thi…

Women want their man to make more money than they do and for them to make as much money (or more) than men do. It’s no surprise that money is a driving factor in divorce lately. My ex wife acted fine with it for a few years before it started to become a problem. Then everything started to be nitpicked. She refused to do a a single house chore. She refused to cook a single meal. All because she made more money but then she also thought I should work 80 hours a week to try to match what she made a…

Reminds me of me and my ex wife. If the sex was good there wasn’t a problem. If for whatever reason it just didn’t go great (which sometimes just happens) all of the sudden she would shut down, blame porn, act like I never loved her, and the tension would exist throughout the night and until we had good sex again.

In my case there were warning signs but I ignored them and got married anyways. So I’m not going to fully reject the idea of marriage in anyone’s case but I will say that if people have any doubt whatsoever about their future partner or anything about their relationship that’s a divorce waiting to happen no matter how small they may think it is.

Actually he is fucked. If he only got to keep half, gambling taxes are practically half anyways on that amount.

This is a case where I would advise you to seek a counselor. They would be able to beat help you and your wife determine if this is a fixable marriage or if it’s one that’s just destined for more pain the longer you draw it out. Either way you’ll eventually have to figure out in counseling if it’s even possible for you to change those things about yourself that are hurting your marriage and if it’s right that you should have to change.

Did we have the same wife? It was like switch flipped with no warning at all that anything was wrong.

These stories are becoming way too common. At this point I think the question needs to be honestly asked what men have to gain from getting married and having kids if women are completely unreliable and untrustworthy these days with a system built to let them plunder everything and ruin the man’s life. Sorry OP.

I feel like we were married to the same woman. Different issues, but same general theme. Constant stress, anxiety, and the cause of it was always me (at the end) no matter how many issues I fixed. Eventually I just realized that she wasn’t fixable and needs professional help as there would always be something I somehow did wrong. I miss her still but I don’t miss what she brought with her.

Did anyone see the most recent mod post there that basically just in a manner of words was like “support women no matter what”? It’s a feminist cesspool fantasyland over there.

Marriage doesn’t really work with women that have embraced western feminism. The reason is that eventually, you, being a human, will not do everything right (not even taking about cheating) and feminism pretty much preaches that we are to be discarded when that happens. My advice would honestly be…look for women who don’t have those ideas or don’t embrace them. This might lead you down a way different cultural path but at the end of the day it will also probably land you a woman that isn’t going…

Something is wrong with women. 80% of divorces (as a conservative number, I think it’s higher) are started by women now. I’m not sure what the reasoning is as to why women are so fickle and non committed to marriage being lifelong now but I can’t imagine trusting a single one of them now.

I think all situations are different but in a lot of ways I think it helped once my ex and I stopped playing the blame game. We actually were eventually able to realize that fault wasn’t even the issue, fundamental differences in who we were and what we needed were the main problem. She might still blame me and I’m not going to lie and say that there isn’t some anger and blame that occasionally goes on in my head but once you reach a greater realization that “this just wasn’t my 100% partner for…

File for divorce and get full custody of your kid. She's nothing more than a con woman at this point and will probably wind up behind bars eventually (not even joking).

Yep…we separated. I fulfilled every “requirement” to move back in and did so. Not even a month later there was another made up reason as to how I failed. It actually helped though because I was able to finally see and accept that I wasn’t the monster, my stbxw was. Some of us have to learn the hard way I guess. It’s helped tremendously though with my ability to move on. I’ve hardly felt sad anymore to simply be able to accept that she was a bad person for what she did and being alone is healthie…

It’s a concept that doesn’t work for this time period (imo). To go into why it doesn’t work now would probably take writing a book, but I’m sure if we all think about it you can easily start to come up with reasons as to why marriage just isn’t working in the modern era.

This is fairly accurate as to how women behave. As long as things are fun and a shiny new toy it’s great but the moment it turns into any sort of struggle to work for a goal they get FOMO and think the grass is greener elsewhere. I blame the endless queue of online dating. Not a great time period to be a man right now.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
