Looks don't matter if you're in one of the most famous rock bands of all time and rich. OK, I'll write this one down.

pretty much everyone says things about them self to make the opposite sex like them, there's nothing wrong with that. As long as they're true.

saying "I needed lines" comes off really sleazy. When I read that it feels like you're almost trying to trick the girl. "I don't know how to get what I want, but I do know what I want. I've been told saying X will get me what I want, so that's what I'll say". Maybe that's not how you really feel, or your intention but at least to me that's how it comes off. A reevaluation of what you want to get out of your interactions with a girl may be more beneficial to you in the long run.

I like the idea of having her put her own name in the phone since I am also terrible with names, but... This is great in many ways, allow me to explain. For One, you minimize the chance for rejection because it's more of a demand rather than a question There's a lot of posts around here along the lines of "I don't get it, why did she give me her number and now won't return my calls/texts??" I would say this may be one reason why.

what these narrow minded individuals fail to realize is maybe it's not "you're clealry not taking care of your girl's needs" but IS "this girl is a nasty, dirty (not in a good way), freak". Instead of judging the chick for being open to it, they look down on the bf. This is probably why the very very few guys I know/have met who were like "fuck the bro code" ended up contracting some STD from a sleaze bag girl they fooled around with. That's some real life karma.

Maybe I am in the minority, but I've always gotten great advice from women, even when trying to approach them. Maybe my expectations are different, here it seems guys are looking for very detailed step by step guidelines? The majority of the time I hear a guy giving advice on girls at some point I hear "...but really who knows what the hell goes on in the mind of a woman?". Could be a way for him to cover his ass if his advice doesn't work, but it seems like a generally legit, rhetorical questio…

I have to admit, I am shaking my head a bit, lol. I'm not sure how my comment "being good at giving relationship advice isn't gender dependent" became so specific. Again, I agree, there are certain things a woman probably can't give great advice on, as she doesn't have the male POV. That doesn't mean her input couldn't be helpful in other areas. Since I'm repeating a bit, I'll ask again, if men can't get helpful advice in relationships from women what is /r/AskWomen all about?

I see what you're saying, and agree that there are aspects of picking up a woman that an actual woman won't understand from a guys perspective. That's a lot different than "women very rarely have effective advice for men with respect to succeeding with women" though. If you're talking to a woman, who also happens to be good at giving advice, getting a females perspective could definitely be effective. Afterall, isn't that the whole basis for /r/AskWomen ? Really my point was there are people who…

Disagree completely. If someone sucks at giving advice I don't see why that would be because she's a female, she just sucks at giving advice. I've gotten good/bad advice from both sexes.

To be fair, do you know a lot of people who have tried this? Also, what's the worst that could happen, you don't meet a woman but do something you enjoy anyway? Still a win.

I always thought the "nice guys finish last" saying was bullshit. Push over's finish last. You can be a nice guy and succeed, just like you can be an asshole and succeed. But chances are if you're a push over, you're not going to have much luck.

I wouldn't take my phone out. If you think it'll constantly be going off, turn the phone off/on silent. If you must check the score (big sports fan myself, so I could understand) just excuse yourself head to the bathroom & check up on the scores. I wouldn't do this more than once though.

In my experience it helped me, big time. It's just like anything else, if you get out in front of the story/issue, you can better control how it's viewed. IMO it's worse to have the girl wonder to herself if you think sweating a lot is "normal", "fine" etc, than you acknowledging the problem. At least then maybe she'll think "ya, that's not normal, but what are ya gonna do? can't really help that". If she judges you for it anyway, she may not be worth your time.

I was surprised to see most people saying it probably "wasn't a big deal". There are a lot of factors we don't know but if the OP has been seeing this girl "for a while" and her friends don't know anything about it, that seemed a little weird to me. In my group of friends (I am a guy) we'd at least know our friend was dating someone (even if that's all we knew about her).

straddle the line of "playful asshole". She sounds like the type that likes this.

are you always the one initiating the convo's? Does she ask "convo extenders" or pretty much just answer your questions and nothing more?

I suffered from this myself. It made me hate going out to bars, which are typically crowded, hot, and you're drinking alcohol. It didn't help that I was over weight, but sweating a lot is just in my genes. Even now that I've lost a considerable amount of weight I'll still sweat more than others (but not nearly as much as I used to, more of a "normal" level). Not sure if weight is an issue for you. It'll piss me off because all my friends will agree that it is hot in the bar, but I'm the only one…

I would say how you dress definitely influences which types of girls are interested in you initially. Since this is their first impression of you they are sizing you up. You would do the same to a girl, no? As for changing how you dress, that depends. Are you looking for someone who is very similar to you? If so, I wouldn't change much. Otherwise, some small modifications wouldn't be the worst thing for you, as long as ultimately you stay true to yourself. You can adapt without being a "sellout"…

she said you have to pinch her cheeks? I hope you tried to pinch her ass first before realizing she meant her face? (kidding of course) the beginning and end of this interaction seems awkward, but who cares, you're young it happens. You saved it in the middle and thought on your feet, maybe there is hope for you yet!

to be honest, I stopped reading after day 2. It's pretty obvious you need to boost your own confidence which none of us can do for you. Not knowing you I can't really say why you don't have confidence in yourself but as you probably already know this is important. If you don't come off as someone who thinks highly of himself (while not being a douche about it) why in the world would this girl who doesn't know you think highly of you? Reverse the roles, if someone you just met keeps putting them …

ya, that's pretty much it...if she finds you attractive, (which is usually the first thing you notice about someone you just met), and has some interest the setting doesn't matter at all.

Yea that's a good plan IMO. Too many guys don't want to put in the work, and plant the seed. They don't understand why a girl doesn't want to give some random guy her number out of the blue.

she was actually the most attractive women I've ever had show interest in me, lol. But ya, the friendzone thing was awful, so even though she was hot, I wasn't having it.

I semi-successfully picked up a girl at a gym once. I had been going to this gym religiously for about a year, and I'd say she has as well. I wouldn't say you need to wait that long, and I wasn't really waiting this whole time, but I do think I was successful because she recognized me, we made eye contact several times in the past. I wasn't a COMPLETE stranger to her. One day I saw her in the area designated to do ab work, so I walked over and started doing abs. After a few exercises I looked ov…

It's important to not get discouraged. Don't expect to become "good" at something this difficult over night, or hell expect to ever get "good" at it at all. I'd try to tell myself things like "hey, she's just another person, don't make it bigger than it is, it's a conversation with another person. Worst case you make a new friend, or at least get some practice for the future, make a few mistakes now that you can learn from". IMO you'll learn so much more from trial by fire, and your mistakes tha…

Oh I definitely agree. It at least bought me time to gather my thoughts so I didn't get myself in any further trouble, lol. Just saying be prepared to eventually pay the piper.

you're nervous because it means a lot to you. If you keep telling yourself it's really not that big of a deal, and rattling off the reasons why, you should become less nervous.

if you have any interest in here I'd go to her play. From how you described her it sounds like she would respect that more than a FB message

I can tell you from experience this does not always work. I actually did this once before, it ended the argument for the time being, but it doesn't solve the real problem.

"$5? Damn....are "interesting" trades a consideration?" If she's just busting your balls that could lead to some flirting. If she's trying to semi-nicely tell you to back off a bit then your best bet is to do just that.
