Why not be honest about it then? Why hide it behind subtlety and egalitarian teaching? Why to fool ourselves by stating this doesn't happen, that everything is virtuous and such abstract constructs? Just keep it out in open and let fittest survive.

Agreed. However I do think those circumstances have shaped the way we perceive game of dating. Otherwise it doesn't make sense to see how desperate men are for dating partner. Women see dating as controller of the game or blessing a man by accepting him as partner. A girl cries and couple of guys jump off to make things okay for her(whether they actually make things better is different part). Guys compete to get attention of girl. A girl doesn't need much more than mere smile to get attention of…

There is an interesting text that I came across. It states that 'total human population that we see today is descendant of 20% of male population, 80% males didn't get opportunity to pass on their genes. Whereas more than 90% women reproduced'. I guess that explain why male are the ones to compete for dating game.

What he argued is men search for 'look' and women rank based on accessibility to resources. Then he pointed out that dating game is skewed towards women and thus they get choice to add look along with 'ability to provide' while ranking. So, I don't see how this argument can only be reduced to 'looks'. I mean he has fair point. Women usually are in high demand for dating game and thus they get to choose.
