But I mean, women have really suffered historically.. I know where I'm from in Ireland the institutionalised violence against women was abhorrent.. google Magdalene Laundries, the last of which closed in the 1990's. And then all of the witch hunts and stuff during late middle ages... certainly did a lot to divide the sexes futher.. men were generally complict too I believe. Yeah, I have no idea. I never learned about it in university myself but I did learn about it from reading university lectures from the UK. I mean slave morality is everywhere but I personally always found "the Alchemy" of the standpoint to be cool. I mean it can be used in many ways -- why not women in 1983? I have no problem with it. Women today? sure, it's more complex. Hartsock's paper itself is just a feminist reconfiguration of Lukacs' History and Class Consciousness which is just as trippy…

Okay I think there are a lot of misconceptions here. The Feminist Standpoint was a critique of patriarchy (a flawed concept/ a grand narrative) which Nancy Hartsock wrote in 1983, it's dated, it's been revised, it's imperfect blah blah. The paper itself never argues it's truthful. What it argues is actually rather Nietzschean in a sense in that it argues for a will to truth, but one which is collective - and this truth, or epistemological standpoint, must be connected with practice, specifically…
