I think that’s fair. I’m married for five years now and a bit older (30’s) and my threshold for LTRs was around six to nine months. By that point we’d get to know each other well enough to continue on or part ways. That was enough time to get past the honeymoon period and see what life was actually like with that person, but YMMV. Note I am talking about monogamous, fairly conservative and straightforward relationships.

Settling isn’t necessarily a bad thing, either. I’ve always thought that going for your SMV plus or minus one (maaayyyybe two) points is reasonable. At the end of the day you have to balance stability and consistency with the headache that may come from pursing someone out of your league.
