I think that is very short sighted. The hate was there far before the current situation. They were attacked multiple times by all of their neighboring countries until Israel proved to have a dominant military. After that they figured that attacking the Israeli military was not effective so they might as well use terrorism to target civilians. The security measures they use in the west bank are a direct result of the hate, not the thing causing the hate.

I'm jewish and most of my friends are. I don't know anyone who has a significant pyschological impact on them Nor do I think my life is 'brutalizing' in any way but I respect your right to choose this as a major issue in your life.

It may be. Personally I feel pretty torn on the issue and have no idea at this point what I will do when I have children. That being said, I really think the energy people put into this issue could be applied to something that is a bigger deal.

Hertlze was actually completely ignorant of all of that. He was completely unaffiliated with the religion but felt the need to establish a Jewish homeland after he reported on dreyfus affair and saw antisemitism in action. (or apparently it was the rise to power of the anti-Semitic demagogue Karl Lueger according to wiki) IIRC he choose Uganda because (in his mind) it was a largely unpopulated area and they could get the land somewhat easily.

Fun fact: Theodor Herzl's (Father of Political Zionism) first idea of where Isreal should be was Uganda. That was changed during the first Zionist congress because he had no sense of Jewish history/the Jewish religion and it made far more sense to put it where it is now.

I graduated from college in 2011. During the previous 4 years I heard this very often (especially among the frat community.) For a long time I was one of the people I talked about who felt pressured not to say it was wrong. Eventually I decided it was time to step up and I got a lot of flack for it. They just didn't accept that it was rape, to them it was just 'how you get a hook up in college.'

There are far too many people who think that this practice is totally acceptable and there are probably more people who fell pressured to stay silent when they have a problem with it. Rape is constantly talked about on college campuses, but when most people hear rape they think 'Some random guy grabs a woman late at night while she is alone and forces himself on her.' Edit: I guess I included what I talked about in the 'don't be that guy' phrase which I guess is incorrect.

I think you are likely thinking about a different kind of rape than they are. Ever been on a college campus? I recently graduated and I lost count of how many of my friends would talking about getting women really drunk so that they'd sleep with them.

That post is technically exactly the opposite of what we are talking about. That post is about all upvoting 1 topic so it reaches the front page. We are talking about when srsers click a link that has been posted in the subreddit, downvote the comment and argue with the various people they disagree with in the comments.

Yes, clearly many of their members don't abide by their subs rules. Many posters in /r/nfl downvote based on team fandom despite /r/nfl's rules. The point is that it isn't SRS as an entity that are downvoting. It is a bunch of random pissed off members. There isn't really anything SRS can do about it. They can't control what their members do outside of the 'fempire.' All they can do is post the rule and hope their members abide by it.
