| 2 | Why invalidate evolutionary psychology/behavior in sexual dynamics?Evolution takes millions of years. A better explanation is cultural norms/ psychology. Cultural norms are caused by changes in structure. Women were allowed to work in factories during world war II because of demand, rather than any civil rights thing. They went from: 'Women can't handle that kind of work!' to 'There's not enough workers, somehow you can do this now!' This present isn't any different. There are demands that require you to consume. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 07/03/15 01:46 AM |
| 1 | CMV: 50 Shades is more true-to-life than not.The beta orbiters in both Twilight and Fifty Shades are both of non-white ethnicities. That's racist as fuck. 'Dios Mio!' Christian is a billionaire, with ex-FBI agents working for him. Yet he is afraid of a crazy ex-girlfriend he messed up (And was capable of blackmailing). Ooh scary! She wrote something on a car! In a sense it's conservative propaganda. 'Those poor people are so scary!' | /r/PurplePillDebate | 14/02/15 01:46 PM |
| 3 | Misunderstanding Evo-Psych: BP & RP.Evolutionary theory is different, evolutionary psychology can generally be made up or inferred by the average person. I remember reading Richard Dawkins The God Delusion and thinking, 'So that's how evolution works! I can use it to make up whatever I want!' Natural Selection affects phenotypes, but the mental process is much more complex and harder to change. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/12/14 04:57 AM |
| 1 | Misunderstanding Evo-Psych: BP & RP.I don't think we associate these traits with youth, I think we associate them with health and vigour. In the same way we know that food looks nasty when its wrinkled/dry. There is a part of us that is disgusted by wrinkles or runny noses. If I lined up a number of women, who looked more or less the same; or the younger women looked older, the older looked younger. And then told you their ages in reverse. Would you pick the '18' year old or the younger looking, yet older one? | /r/PurplePillDebate | 12/12/14 04:45 AM |
