Even when unemployed you can always volunteer your free time to help others. I think confidence is like a muscle that you have to exercise and strengthen, being anxious is a common thing I experience also. Forcing myself to work through the anxiety(like meditative breathing or writing) and go for it has always been worthwhile for me.
