But what about the fact that marital rape wasn‘t considered rape until only a few centuries ago? Women‘s bodies being property to men in history? How does that not come into play, when did we overcome that? I feel like your explanation isn‘t doing enough, especially since the numbers for female rape are incredibly low.

Well, the perpetrators are still mostly male here? It‘s pretty unlikely to be assaulted by a random woman on the street.
