It's not a law thing, its a fairness thing. Women can't be trusted with the vote unless they take the same disadvantages that men have had to deal with. The fact that they tend to vote for liberals is of course, a symptom of their coddled an poorly informed nature. Karen Straugn (I'm not a huge fan of her, but she makes some good points) talks about this a lot.
