11	Court Upholds Conviction Of Michelle Carter In Texting-Suicide Case But she's not in prison for his actions. She's in prison for her own actions. The act of vehemently coercing someone with ideations of suicide, to the point that they actually do it, is apparently a crime. There's clearly something wrong with her and she's unfit to be among the rest of society for a length of time we deemed is necessary for her to show penitence.
