Alright guys, I feel like this is getting a bit blown out of proportion. I'm pretty positive that this article is actually just poorly written and the "troubling trend" is that they perceive the cause of the lower increase in women's lives is due to undertreatment of certain diseases. I'm almost positive it isn't because they're upset at the fact that men's expectancy increased more rapidly than women's (although this could be a bias and misinterpretation of data on the researcher's behalf).

Hey guys, about the very last note on the slide, let's not jump to conclusions without any more info from OP's girlfriend. I'm a college professor (math) and sometimes for grad classes I have a powerpoint with talking points and I flesh out the info on the board.
