I agree the job search, particularly for ones requiring a college education, should be more demographic-blind. (At the same time, I think class/wealth is a much bigger obstacle, as well as extant connections, so I'd move the balancing more to helping the poor and unconnected get caught up, especially as most of the racial and many gender-based issues come down to money anyhow.)

The existence of adoption levels the playing field a lot in discussions on this matter. One can argue all day about the differences caused by one parents being pregnant and the other not and the implications it has for abortion, biological or financial, but if one parent can surrender the child, both ought to be allowed to.
