I do enjoy those events, but they're expensive. I actually met a really great girl at an event hosted at the city's symphony, but she moved away for a job and at the time I couldn't go with her. It's all about changing priorities. For example, I would change my budget around so that instead of going out 2 nights/week, I would cut that back and go to one "good" event per month instead.

Great points! I've thought about this and will start to do that too, especially since fundraisers are ramping up in 2019-2020. Campaign events are expensive, but that's a good "filter" as far as I'm concerned. Better spending $150 at one good event than spending that on multiple bad dates. (I'm too old for college campuses). I'm also looking into more "high society" type events, like events at country clubs, art museums, symphonies, etc.

Sorry, that’s my salary from my business. But the way it works is that some of the contracts are solely mine, whereas a few others are split between several employees. I get the lucrative ones because I have the most experience, and some clients pay more for me to do the work exclusively. It’s kind of weird to explain so I thought I would phrase it that way. There’s very little overhead so I mostly take the salary/profit for now, not much I can “reinvest” in to make the business grow.

They wanted to be equal, they got it (in most states), then they shut the fuck up about it. why is it wrong for disadvantaged groups to push for their rights? More specific rights movements have been a big success (racial issues, LGBTQ, feminism) so this speaks about the advantage of it. I guess that depends on your definition of "success." The whole modern feminism movement has been pretty much been reduced to a laughing stock. You even have former feminists having sympathy for the counter "Men's Rights Movement," which you also wouldn't have needed if we focused on egalitarianism from the beginning.
