Sounds like my ex who would go around boasting about how strong and independent she is (so long she had my credit card in her pocket). Now that she doesn’t have my credit card anymore she’s not so strong and independent after all. She might even be forced by her mommy and daddy to get a JOB! Oh no! The J word! How dare I say it out loud! Yup! Mommy and daddy aren’t too happy footing her bill and now she might have to work for a living…

You don’t owe her anything. You are not an ATM and shouldn’t be treated as one. She’s a grown woman, she’s not your problem. It also sounds like she’s telling the kids to say this and possibly trying to alienate you by playing the poor victim. This can be a good time to explain to your kids that actions have consequences and people need to take responsibility and not rely on others for support.

Sorry to hear man. That really sucks. I always thought how strange it was that prior to the divorce you’re a good enough father to see your kids daily but after the divorce you’re only good enough for a meal a week. Sick system.

This! My divorce started with my ex lying about everything. Had her lawyer lie more than half a dozen petitions to find me in contempt. Changed lawyers to a real junkyard dog. It was costly but worth every dime. I ended up getting 50/50 with my kids and walked out pretty well.

If I was the only divorced person I knew I’d think it’s me. However the statistics speak for themselves. More than 50% divorce rate and more than 85% initiated by women. They only have to gain from divorce. Why stay if you can leave and get paid to do it?!

I have felt a lot of pain but I don’t think I’d have been able to continue living if my ex turned my daughter against me. I don’t envy you but I do respect you for hanging in there. The wheel does turn. Once you finish crying, try and pick up the pieces to become the best you. Remember, as a male you are an appreciating asset with age and she as a female is a depreciating asset. Time is on your side. I’m 5 years those new boobs will be sagging with the rest of her and she’ll be worthless. Try to…

Not personally but have seen it with friends. After their idiot wives dumped them for no reason other than to try and upgrade they started hitting the gym, upgraded salary and became high value males. The loser wives realized and tried to get back in. I know one idiot who took her back. Didn’t last long though. Others told the wives to go to hell.

Never even thought of that but so true!

This! I’m going through the same situation. Wife left bedroom 3 years ago. I tried to kiss ass and do everything so she would just stay in the marriage so that kids wouldn’t have to go through divorce. I also was scared. This forum helped me realize a few important things. 1. Once she said she wants divorce she already made her mind up months or years prior. There’s no changing that. 2. She’s not one in a million but one OF a million. 3. Be the best YOU. Personally I took up running. I now run 4…

Kids need their dad in their lives as much as humanly possible. If you have a choice stay close by and be there for them.

Sounds like you might want to find another lawyer. I started out with a similar lawyer and was always playing defense. I did a bunch of research and found a junkyard pit bull. It costs more money but he knocked out more than 5 contempt orders against me and leveled the playing field to an extent. The system is stacked against you because you’re a male. However a good lawyer can give you the best fighting chance you’ll ever get.

You sound like me!! Am I you! Did we marry the same woman?! I am currently going through the same hell. Hired a good lawyer to minimize damages as much as possible but it’s not looking great. The good news is that once it is all over you will recover in a few years and then be on your road to a happier, healthier and wealthier you. On the other hand she’s a depreciated asset. She’ll have a few bucks and she’ll blow through it in a couple of years or less and then she’s totally worthless with zer…

How long did it take to replenish the bank account from her grabbing half and the alimony?

This was me except my wife didn’t work at all and. Then eventually she filed and now it’s an uphill battle and her true ugly side started to show. Speak with a lawyer, organize your finances so you will give as little as possible and dump the dead weight. For all you know she is already speaking to a lawyer.

You might be scared to be alone but remember this: You are an appreciating asset and she is a depreciating one. Invest in yourself either therapy, gym or any self help that will work for you. Speak to a lawyer and don’t mention divorce until you have sound legal advice. She has only upside by leaving because she doesn’t work and you do. That means you are her meal ticket. You will be stuck giving her half of the assets plus alimony (paying her to sit on her ass and do nothing). You need good leg…

Many women these days are lazy good for nothing types. They get comfortable in marriages where the husband is the bread winner and allows them to sit at home in their rump all day. Then they get bored of doing that and want to move on and find themselves or something new to fill the void and expect their husbands to support it. There is no upside for them to remain in the relationship and work on it. The upside is leaving because they get half of what the husband worked for plus alimony. So why …

There is zero added value to the institution of marriage. Even with a prenup it offers no added value unless your future wife is wealthier than you are.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
