There's a couple thing I'm not seeing in the other replies. The shows are written and produced in the week before air, so sometimes you get brilliant commentary immediately after something big happens. Two, the commentary (even when it's not a this just happened thing) is usually brilliant and well done. And lastly, yes the humor can be crude and blunt... but that's a side effect of the creators not caring who they offend or what the consequences. If you deserve to be shat upon, they WILL bring …

That's part of the reason it took so long, but now I may have a smaller social life... but the people around are one hundred percent supporting.

I know a guy who taught for almost forty years and coached softball for twenty. He retired early 2000's. Last few years he worked he refused to ever be alone with a female student. He'd never had any issues and was an older, married and respected educator. But he'd heard and seen so many stories of dubious/false accusations he was terrified. He hated it. He'd need to talk to a student about bad grades/work/etc and he'd have to find excuse to keep another student in the room. But not a friend. No…

I think they'd actually pretty cool with the idea. I'm kinda mad at myself for not saying something sooner.

Yup. The overwhelming majority of places here have gendered restrooms and entering the wrong room is a very big social no-no here. VERY big. Its kind of the root of the problem being discussed. In a smaller location with small bathrooms a guy can just go into a woman's room and lock the door to use a changing table, a little uncomfortable maybe but not a huge deal. But in bigger places the restrooms can be giant with dozens of stalls/urinals and a steady stream of people coming and going, most d…

I was actually thinking that. They're all pretty cool and mostly parents, I think they'd go for it.

I feel like you're over thinking this. https://www.google.com/search?q=commercial+changing+table&biw=911&bih=445&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=0ahUKEwjgnpmjp_DKAhVElx4KHfG2AkcQ_AUIBigB They really aren't that expensive. Like, at all. If a business already has two bathrooms (and the absolute overwhelming majority do) but the men's room doesn't have a changing table, they could just.... spring for the $150 and buy one.
/r/MensRights11/02/16 06:13 PM

That doesn't really work for places that only have two bathrooms.

How can I find out what your explanations are, when they're terrible and impossible to follow? People are repeatedly asking you to clarify and you keep saying some variation of "find out what it means", which is a pretty nonsensical answer under the circumstances. And we are talking about men's rights when we talk about your "slogan". "Teach men not to rape" is incredibly sexist, misandrist and unbelievably damaging when it's put forward instead of legitimate advice on how women (and men) can pr…

You keep saying that, but your explanations are terrible. This isn't a complicated issue and you're grasping at imaginary straws. When you're trying to prevent people from being victims of a crime, saying "well just teach the criminals not to commit the crime" is absurd. It's asinine. There are steps individuals can take to decrease the likelihood of being mugged, having their car stolen, their house robbed, their pocket picked, and being sexually assaulted. But for some insane reason feminism t…

It's an amazing video, but if you're wondering why it might not get the response you'd expect in this sub, it's because it's a frequent repost. It get's posted here on a pretty regular basis. Fun social experiment: if you work someplace that's fairly open, or have friends that are fairly open... the next time vibrators/female sex toys come up (I know a lot of circles aren't that comfortable with the subject being openly discussed, but I've been in enough that are to know it's not uncommon) loudly chime in about male sex toys. Watch people react with disgust, calmly point out the double standard, keep it deadly serious and watch your coworkers/friends try to rationalize their sexism. …

Yeah, I hear that all the time. But when I asked my primary care doc to refer me to surgeon for one, he just said "Sure." And when I met with the surgeon, he just made sure I understood the procedure, that it was possibly reversible, but might not be and that I really didn't want kids and that was kinda it. To be fair, I mentioned that my wife wants kids less than me, but he never actually asked, and didn't look like he cared. The general impression I got was "your body, your choice. As long as …

No, the worst they can do is physically assault you. Doesn't sound scary at first, you can defend yourself. But think about it... Could you hit a woman? I mean really put some force behind it and drop her? Do you really want to be in a position where she's crying, being treated by paramedics with a broken nose and the police are none to kindly asking you "What happened here?" And all you can do is meekly mutter "she hit me first..." How ya think that'll turn out for you? Being attacked by women …

You're getting a lot of responses that cover most of the major points, but I'll give you my personal story for how I ended up here. It hits on some of the biggest issues that r/mensrights is all about. It's a long story, but you're getting flooded with comments, so I'll try to keep it brief and just hit the major points. It's the story of my Uncle. Super nice guy, veteran, mail-man. He had brief marriage that ended with her walking out on him for another woman. He was a bit of a mess and rebound…

Learning about how my wife's uncle was in an abusive relationship, eventually called 911 because he was afraid for his life and when the police showed up to find him battered, bleeding, crying on the curb and her inside with his blood on her hands but visibly pregnant and claiming he was the abuser.... He was arrested and spent time in jail facing serious charges. It's been 8 years, and despite her regularly committing perjury in family court (to the point that judges call her out for it) and be…

Of course, the argument could be made that you also grew up never experiencing what having a normal penis is like. Your first experiences with masturbation, your first experiences with girls, from hand-jobs to oral to full on sex, were experienced without your full equipment. You'll never know what it's like to have a foreskin. You'll never know what sexual experiences with one are like. Hehe...this reminds me of one of my favorite experiences with a feminist: I was bartending at a major chain restaurant and was the only male bartender. Eventually another guy was promoted from server and was beginning his training as a bartender. At his first weekly bar cleaning/meeting (we all came in early once a week and deep cleaned the bar/bear cooler) our male bar manager told him he should go with me to the beer cooler since moving/cleaning around the kegs was the guy work. (I should stop…

I've recently begun working with several friendly, chatty, well-educated feminists and I've been dreading and trying to prepare for the inevitable conversation/s about feminism/MRM/gender issues and this article is.... perfect. There are many things I can talk about with confidence and in many cases personal experience, but rape is.....tricky (to say the least) and I know it will come up, it always comes up, and this article frames some of the discussion in exactly the way I've been struggling t…

False accusations of rape which depending on the study range from few but problematic to absolutely rampant. Can we talk about this for a moment? I've seen it pop up a few times in other subs and through out the discussions there's an important point that never seems to get made. People are always very quick to say something akin to: "It hardly ever happens and with so few rape victims stepping forward as is this shouldn't even be open to discussion so drop it." Or something a bit more vitriolic…

Absolutely. I work in a female dominated field where most of my coworkers are women in their mid to late twenties, many of them are single and are pretty active on the dating scene, I regularly hear comments about guys not being acceptable because they're too short. Lately I've started responding with something along the lines of: "I know exactly what you mean! I tend to be really bad at articulating my arguments about the different types of power that men/women hold and why the truth of the matter makes patriarchy theory look silly. I think I'll just hold onto the link to this article and use it from now on. Great read.

I would suggest doing a little digging on the web and finding some first hand stories from male victims of rape. They can be somewhat...emotional. When you're really reading a guy's words as he describes the trauma, horror and utter lack of support...it's much harder to laugh. I'd suggest finding several and approaching your teacher after class with them. Explain that based on what you've read, the class clearly doesn't have a realistic understanding of a serious issue. Give your teacher copies …

I happen to know someone who works as an administrative assistant to several obgyn doctors in a hospital in Massachusetts. I am constantly baffled by the college discipline issues surrounding sexual assault. It is a serious crime. The only policy that makes sense is to contact the police and co-operate with their investigation. If someone was killed on school property would they run their own murder investigation?

"But don't you see?! This judge made an egregious error! This Uncle is clearly guilty and they're not only letting him off the hook but punishing his victims! This is terrible! You see we know he's guilty because no woman would ever make false accusations. It doesn't happen. Ever. And if you show me evidence of it happening I'll either blithely ignore it or claim that the cases you presented were also miscarriages of justice and despite the courts' decisions and evidence, the accusations weren't…

As a scruffy looking guy with two baby nieces I'd like to be a great uncle too, this trend is seriously disturbing. I feel like I'm going to need to my brother and his wife to film themselves with the girls and me, giving me permission to take them out in public in order to feel like I can take them to the park without fear of ending up in the back of cop car with them being taken by cps.

I shouldn't have to lock my car doors without fear of it being stolen, but if I leave it unlocked with the keys in the ignition over-night in a shady part of town.... We do not live in a perfect world. There are criminals out there. There are rapists. She should be able to pass/out be irresponsible whichever way she wants. And I should be able to leave my car unlocked with the keys in it without fear of it being stolen. But we can't because there's fucking criminals and rapists in this world.

There was recent best-of post linked here that was about how you define "power". Yes, if you define power as holding the majority of power positions in politics, business, institutions etc. then men are have more power and are more privileged. But if you define power as the ability to affect change in one's own life, than a strong argument could be made that women have more power in our society and therefor more privileged.

Your right, we don't live in a society that needs to be patriarchal anymore. But recognizing that we've descended from a society that is historically patriarchal and claiming we live in modern feminism's idea of "The Patriarchy" are two wildly different things. If we're going to fight these kind of harmful gender-norms and traditional ideas we need to recognize where they come from and that they aren't specifically geared to be against women.
/r/MensRights02/08/13 04:11 PM

In the world of Feminism everything can be broken down into a simple formula: Where X= patriarchy and Y= anything negative for women: Y is always a result of X, therefore the solution to any Y is the fight against X.
