True Cause of the Rise in Male Loneliness (and Loneliness in general)Honestly just the fact that things like knowing celebrities, having the "right" hobbies (rather than the ones you actually enjoy), wearing the "right" clothes, playing sports, etc are even considered "social skills" in the first place is a big part of the issue. Imo there are many issues involved with the loneliness epidemic, including many you've discussed here, but possibly the single most important factor is the ever-increasing (or at least, that is how it seems to me) focus on hyper-conformi… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 26/10/24 09:24 AM
“To our horror”: Widely reported study suggesting divorce is more likely when wives fall ill gets axedBecause this study is still regularly cited as evidence that men are evil. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 29/06/24 02:36 AM
Why does therapy so often suck for men? | Chris WilliamsonYou're not wrong, and it's not recent. "Go to therapy", "seek help", etc have been a passive aggressive/plausibly deniable way to simply say fuck you, especially to men, for at least 15 years. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 19/06/24 10:04 AM
Why does therapy so often suck for men? | Chris WilliamsonHonestly, I don't know if the usual types of therapy helped or not, because I never experienced anything that felt like intervention or therapy in sessions. I saw behavioral therapists, psychoanalysts, motivational interviewers, IFS therapists, EMDR therapists, and therapists who claimed to specialize in essentially every modality under the sun. My experience in each was shockingly similar: we would spend some time discussing things like my job and family, and when I would try to move on to my a… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 19/06/24 01:13 AM

Men’s therapyHey, I just want to tell you that I totally hear you, and I believe you, and that he was the one who had something wrong with him which is why he chose to abuse you. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 27/03/24 03:25 AM
Men’s therapyShit it's nice to see someone acknowledge this type of thing outside specifically therapy critical subs. I'll say on the last part though, YMMV there. I've tried advocating for myself in this way with nearly every therapist I've seen, and I've never had a positive result. No matter how softly worded they've all either gone ice queen or became actively hostile. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 27/03/24 03:01 AM
Insecurity in men is largely considered a moral failingIdk about this being actual social rhetoric, but I can tell you that a very large number of people I've known irl seem to think that they are personally able to "sense" these things aka read people's minds, and now that I'm thinking about it those people do seem to be very disproportionately women talking about men. A very common example of this mentioned by someone else in this thread is the whole "men only drive trucks cause they're insecure about their little dick" thing. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 09/02/24 08:48 PM
What is happening to this sub? That person was upvoted because they expressed a nuanced belief in a reasonable and rational manner. You are arguing for a puritanical ideology where people are silenced or cast out for not fully agreeing to a rigid, prescribed set of ideas. That is something I would expect from religious conservatives, but it does not belong in the left wing. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 09/02/24 08:18 PM
Leftist MRAs are the original TERFsIt's disingenuous to call that transphobia when there are real transphobes out there saying "you're a disgusting groomer pedo sinner pervert demon" while Rowling is saying "you're technically still a man." This is exactly the same argument as "Saying trans people are disgusting groomer pedo sinner pervert demons isn't transphobia when there are people killing trans people". You're drawing a line arbitrarily. Saying a trans woman is "technically still a man" is transphobia. So is denying bathroom… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 20/01/24 02:39 AM
Feminism isn't for everyone, it's just for women. People that say it is for everyone, are either naive or deliberately manipulative. And if men do get our own thing, then that's bad and misogynist and we should focus on women instead Either that or feminism seeks to actively sabotage it (opposing men's shelters is one example) | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 17/01/24 01:14 AM
"Never hit a woman."Well, obviously men do more damage when we hit women than vice versa. Physical strength varies wildly by the individual, enough to make this comment fairly meaningless even if on the surface it appears true. There are men who are physically frail, small, disabled, or simply unknowledgeable on how to use their strength, and there are women who are strong. Weapons exist. And as others have said in this thread, men are taught from birth that they are never allowed to hit a woman, including in self … | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 28/11/23 06:00 PM

Feminism expects men to bend over backwards for empathizing with womens issues while shitting on men, and is then is surprised men double down imto toxic spaces. This is how it was for me too. And not only do they have zero empathy for men, any time I've tried to help or say anything about things that may legitimately be called women's issues, I've been told to shut the fuck up and that my opinions don't matter. Ok, fine. If you don't want my support, you don't got it. shocked-pikachu-face.png This is one of the reasons I really believe that a great deal of feminists probably know their shit stinks, but simply enjoy feeling victimized and being regarded … | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 21/11/23 12:53 AM
Feminism expects men to bend over backwards for empathizing with womens issues while shitting on men, and is then is surprised men double down imto toxic spaces.I wasn't expecting an in-depth response, so thanks. I admit I didn't understand all of it because I'm not familiar with some of the events/situations you mentioned. I think there's also a pretty simple explanation for a lot of this phenomenon too: autistic people tend to have a very strong sense of justice, and tend to be much more vulnerable than NTs to manipulation and cult-like groups. It makes sense then that autistics would be prone to getting caught up in aggressive feminism. I've seen man… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 21/11/23 12:43 AM
Feminism expects men to bend over backwards for empathizing with womens issues while shitting on men, and is then is surprised men double down imto toxic spaces. What autistic spaces are you hanging around? I mean this completely genuinely. Every autistic person I know IRL and the large majority I've met online have been massive aggressive SJ types. I want new friends. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 20/11/23 07:54 PM
Feminism expects men to bend over backwards for empathizing with womens issues while shitting on men, and is then is surprised men double down imto toxic spaces.Youd hear things like "men suck" and then a trans men would be like "eehm, I'm a man?" And theyd be like "I mean cis men ofcourse" which leaves you scratching your head thinking..So you think trans men aren't real men? Are they just men lite to you? See, the interesting thing is a lot of them have begun to wise up to this point, but it (of course) doesn't make them any more aware of the bigotry behind their behavior. Instead they're using it as an excuse to double down on transmisandry. SJW type… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 20/11/23 07:51 PM
