Thank you for that. I think as a society we’re moving in the right way and maybe we’ll have it right in a couple of generations. When I was a child the glaring differences between boys and girls were widely known and accepted. We did housework and I use to say ‘I wish I was a boy then I wouldn’t have to wash up.’ My parents of course said it would make no difference, but my observation as a child didn’t come from nowhere. Just slightly over generalising there. I don’t western parent my child - which is basically letting them sleep on their own after birth and being hands off as you say. I practice attachment parenting, which is actually becoming more popular and is used for boys and girls. My nearly 8 year old boy still sleeps with me, despite having his own bedroom. When he’s ready he will leave of his own accord. This is actually in keeping more with eastern types of parenting. I worry as every parent does that…
