The problem is that it's like using an ethnic slur - it doesn't just offend the target, but anyone reading it that happens to belong to the same group. It needlessly offends trans people in general, 99% of which are perfectly decent people.

There's nothing "classic" about it. It's a rape accusation. The police are charging and this is going to trial, and there are 2 friends of the alleged victim who have been publicly supporting her position strongly over twitter, mentioning witnesses, etc.. Given all those facts, I would say this is more likely to be true than any random rape accusation (most never get charged, most never go to trial, most do not have witnesses, etc.). But of course we can't tell, it will be up to the jury.

If you want an example that goes back to the "beginnings of records of society", how about the definition of "leader"? Those have been men in practically all cases in history. However it would be offensive in a modern dictionary to define "leader" as "a person that leads, typically male".

What I find odd, is how no media outlet mentions this, and instead pretends the woman won fairly. I was curious about that, so I did a search. The first result was this http://articles.latimes.com/2013/mar/17/sports/la-sp-la-marathon-20130318 which does in fact clearly state that she had a head start, Elite women runners were given a head start of 18:35 over the elite men. The study doesn't actually debunk that. A perhaps more relevant statistic is "% that did X" overall, not within the two categories they define, living or not living with children. Because a large difference in the % that are living with children could cause the overall numbers to be very different. I have no idea what the true numbers are, but the fact that they withhold the total statistic, when it seems very relevant, is not a good sign.

Nor could men. Women's suffrage shortly followed men's in most nations. Yes, you are entirely correct. But the point still stands, in the decades in between, women could not vote. At that time they were oppressed in ways men were not. Again, just like at other times and in other ways, men were oppressed in ways that women were not. I don't understand the need to deny women were ever oppressed in any way? Of course they were, as were men.

What you say is entirely correct - both men and women were oppressed. But clearly there were plenty of times when women were specifically oppressed, for example when they were denied the vote and men were not. So it is just incorrect to say that "women were never oppressed". That is false. Yes, men were specifically oppressed as well at various times, for example hugely during WWI and WWII. So it is also not true were someone to say "men were never oppressed".

Not if there is an actual war of existence, that is, a war like England or Russia in WWII, where you literally need everyone possible to either fight, or help those fighting. Not having a draft is possible in times of peace. The West has had 2 generations of such peace, but it is rare.

The simple truth is, women were never oppressed Much of modern feminism is rubbish of course, but that line is just ridiculous. Women couldn't vote, couldn't get educated, and couldn't do many things. In the past, there was huge oppression against women. Today, things are much more complicated. Women are physically weaker than men. On average, yes. But the average doesn't matter here. Anyone, male or female, that passes the standard stuff should be allowed to fight if they want. Likely far more men will pass due to the average difference, but that shouldn't matter to anyone.

I would say that the amount and type of emotional pressure is relevant. Imagine someone is subjected to emotional pressure to have sex. The wording is she "strongly encouraged" him, but OP also uses the term "coercion" in a comment as well. I think there is not always a clear boundary between strong encouragement and bullying emotional coercion, which I might consider to be something immoral (ignoring whether we call it "rape" or something else). In any case, OP agrees is it not rape, which is the final word here, it's his life and experience.

The whole "separate teams for each gender" approach is ridiculous. There is no correct way to split into teams (the Olympics has problems each time with female athletes accused of not "being female"), and it's arbitrary. Let everyone compete together.
