Cool. In that case I agree with you that there's no reason not to buy a book these days compared to the 1700's, but in general I'd still rather anyone/everyone get the knowledge than not edit: deleted non-profitable idea. But I'll start buying books/finding ways to donate to the author.

I'm taking a history class and stumbled upon this fun bit of information regarding libraries and sharing information, I'd be interested, sincerely, to hear your take on it: "It was Benjamin Franklin who promoted lending libraries so that the general public would have access to books. Franklin sponsored a literary club in Philadelphia where educated gentlemen (i.e. the politically connected) could gather and read and discuss Enlightenment essays and books. These literary clubs spread to other cit…

And I suppose you donate 100% of your paycheck every week to charity? Do you boycott used book stores, turn off adblock so you can view ads on websites/youtube, slap anyone in the face who tries telling you about a book they read or a movie they saw, or hand out dollar bills to anyone who ever taught you anything? I sure hope you never changed TV channels during a commercal either. Of course being a mooch isn't alpha, no one would disagree with you, but some people can't afford to buy books and/…

Are you against libraries as well? Information should never be just for people who can pay for it.

Leopards don't change spots. Technically you're still accurate; they don't change stripes either.

Do you have any references to back your claim? As far as I've read (Freakonomics and http://www.nber.org/papers/w11318 which lightly touches on it), the black community was doing really well until the 80's when crack became a thing. That's when infant mortality shot back up again, blacks being sent to prison tripled, test score gap between white and black kids widened again, etc etc.

You're pretty much right. Since 2011, any property bought before the marriage (by either the bride/bride's parents or the groom/groom's parents) stay with that person/side of the family when the marriage is over. Sounds fine and dandy until you learn that the law was passed as a "brutal attempt to shore up the crumbling institution of marriage by making divorce less attractive" Guess which gender that's aimed at? edit, link to article: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/afghanistan/8…

Friends like that are going to be found few and far between the shitstorm of people you currently call your friends, especially at your age. It gets easier as you get older, but for now you could focus on hobbies and joining clubs to meet people who are interested in something else besides degrading themselves for terrible pussy. I've started doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and met some down to earth guys (and girls) this way. Have you stopped associating with your old friends? Edit: repeating myself,…

For a lot of other people wasting away in the retirement homes their kids dumped them in, it didn't. Not that you shouldn't try to surround yourself with people you love, but nothing is going to be a safe bet for you except yourself.
