You have not made any statements as to why the study's protocols are erroneous. You have, instead, solely relied on your supposed credentials in an attempt to justify your assertion. Moreover, you've made a much more accusatory claim, that the study's results were modified to better fit a message, without any evidence. Let's look at the results of the paper to see what they say, "Whereas own attractiveness was not significantly associated with dieting motivations among wives with less attractive…

I've had a similar experience to the poster's happen to me. Going forward, I've been much more cautious when dealing with people, especially women. I typically follow up any requests with an email, thanking the person for being prompt in dealing with the matter. The other party usually responds in a positive way to such emails, which can bolster a claim that nothing inappropriate actually occurred. If I have to be around a woman for a lengthy period of time, especially a woman who is either in a…

I can corroborate this. Provided that you're affable, tipping well will often lead to developing a rapport with a particular bartender. It may also present the chance to get to know the owner and also forging a connection. Doing both can yield a number of benefits. At bars, it means that I get to skip to the front of the queue for ordering drinks. I also consistently get free drinks, get to try out top-shelf liquor, and more. At clubs, it can mean free bottle service. I can usually snag a table …

This is incredibly absurd. The content and delivery of the presentations should matter, not the physical characteristics or the genders of the speakers. This is the way that things are in my field; it's doubtful that will change any time soon, which is a good thing. Diversifying for the sake of diversity will, most likely, lead to sub-par presentations. The only people who will ultimately care about those sub-par presentations will be those that push this diversity nonsense onto the rest of the …

I believe, then, that we have different views on what constitutes sexual strategy. It is a nebulous term, after all. From my perspective, sexual strategy is a term that encompasses both tactics and personal characteristics. There are many tactics that you can apply to bed girls, which we refer to as game. There are also different traits that help with game. The most conspicuous of these are appearance, sociability, demeanor, experience, and purpose. You can't completely separate tactics from the…

You make much more than some and far less than others. It's nothing to brag about. To touch on your post: in brief, it is a bit misguided. If you have a terrible physique, then you lift weights daily and go biking, running, swimming, or virtually anything else that improves your appearance. If you're timid, then you inject yourself into the limelight and force yourself to change your mannerisms over time. If you're going nowhere in life, then you find some lofty purpose and strive for it. All of…

Nexting a woman, over the situation that the original poster mentioned, is a natural and valid response. She's more trouble than she's worth if she's hiding something major, like an affair, during a relationship. Who knows what else she's hiding that could damage your life. It's not worth the risk, in my view, to keep screwing someone either if I have reasons for concern or if that person severely violated my trust. Attempting to plate a troublesome woman with whom you had a relationship could a…

You have a critical lack of understanding of what I posted. The first question that you asked is already answered in the methodological sections of the above articles. For instance, this excerpt comes from the study of Stern, et al., "Caloric intake decreased more by one year in the low-carbohydrate group than in the conventional diet group, although the difference between diet groups was not statistically significant. The low-carbohydrate group reduced carbohydrate intake by 52%, reduced fiber …

You have the word of two physicians, both of whom are likely not in the business of performing clinical research. They most likely have either non-existent controls or woefully inadequate controls. Moreover, your anecdotal evidence is just as the meaning of the word suggests: not necessarily true or reliable. If you did not consider non-low-carbohydrate diets for a reasonable period of time, then you do not know if those other diets are just as effective at weight loss as a low-carbohydrate diet…

Let me guess. You probably don't lift. You likely don't have a rewarding, well-paying career. You even don't even try to improve yourself in both tangible and non-tangible ways. I normally try not to assume much about people. However, your comment says, to me, that you're either jaded or deluded to the point where you're sabotaging yourself. It may be something else entirely. Regardless of the true answer, it's incredibly unlikely that you're going to pull in young tail with that attitude.

I can second this. I've owned multiple Mercedes-Benz vehicles. They're predominantly designed with comfort and luxury in mind before anything else. They're also conservative enough that if you are driving your boss around, he or she is not left wondering if you really deserve a bigger bonus this year. The AMG variants of the various vehicle classes are usually more fun to drive than the regular models. However, they still don't scream sporty, since they are based on roughly the same body styles.…

You tried on some level to wax philosophical. The message that you are trying to convey, however, is rather redundant for this group. Redpill theory already explains, among other things, that we should be striving to better ourselves in many ways, be it our physiques, our careers, our financial capabilities, or our social lives. In doing so we become individuals who do not have to resort to mental simulations to bring a modicum of excitement to our lives. We're already living the dream that many…

LinkedIn is not the end-all, be-all of job searching. It is simply one of many tools. In my experiences, one of the best courses of action is networking in person. If you're a recent university graduate and part of an honor society, then there are many such opportunities throughout the year. Honor societies will host private recruitment sessions at least once a semester. Such sessions immediately set you apart from the remaining graduates. Sometimes, these events will be accompanied by smaller-s…

I'm much more inclined to rent than I am to buy another house or condo, at least for the foreseeable future. There are advantages and disadvantages to either option. I like the option of being able to leave at a moment's notice, so renting an apartment or condo makes sense to me. If I find a higher-paying job that's well-aligned with my interests, then I'd like the option to take the job without worrying much about the logistics. I simply break my lease and have the new company cover the outstan…

The best way that I've found to avoid being trapped by unnecessary consumer debt is to save up for whatever period of time makes sense for a given item. If you're unable to purchase the item outright, without incurring debt, after that period, then you either save up longer or look for something more reasonable. It's sometimes tough to follow that rule, no matter how much you're making. However, it's a wonderful feeling knowing that you can pay off consumer debt immediately if necessary. Unlike …

What you said isn't accurate at all. If you have only a Bachelors-level degree in a science or engineering discipline, your earning potential will likely fall within the range you specified. This, of course, assumes that you didn't matriculate at a top-tier university. It also assumes that you don't have the best connections. If, however, you have a Masters-level science or engineering degree, your earning potential can be higher than the cap that you listed. Your chances of making more than tha…

The hundred or so studies that I've come across thus far indicate the exact opposite of what you claim: pure dieting is more psychologically difficult than a mixture of mild dieting and exercising. There are neurological foundations for why this occurs. For example, it is well known that when someone is dieting, orexin 1 receptors will be expressed. Such G-protein coupled receptors regulate feeding behavior [1,2]. In many cases, they can contribute to a lapse in a diet and ultimately consistent …

Let let me modify my original argument slightly, then. I do agree with you that weight loss can be as simple as reducing your overall caloric intake. It does work for some people. However, transitioning to and maintaining a lower caloric intake for a long period of time can be arduous, especially for overweight individuals. Introducing and maintaining a meaningful amount of exercise to mimic the effects of lowered consumption can prove less difficult. There has been ample research to back the cl…

I disagree with the claim that it's horrible advice. Sure, not everyone will be able to go out and cycle. There may be no proper places for someone to ride their bike in a town or city. The weather may also be non-conducive for cycling at various points throughout the year. However, many people can afford to get something akin to an indoor cycling machine. This could be in the form of a stationary exercise bike. It could also be in the form of a desk cycle machines. Desk cycle machines have an i…

I imagine many people are example-based learners. Supplying some examples to illustrate some of the points in your post would likely be very beneficial. For instance, you mention favoring assets over liabilities. You could expound a bit on how you started acquiring assets, what assets you initially favored over others, how you branched out over time to other assets, and so forth. In my case, many of my early assets were in the form of property. I started almost completely at the bottom. In parti…

I agree. There's little thought that goes into just posting a list. If you can't either come up with your own list, articulate why an existing list is important, or improve upon one, then it shouldn't be posted. After a quick glance, there are a few items on this list that could be improved or removed entirely. The most glaring one is that the fifth item: that you shouldn't be the decision maker. This is such a ridiculous concept. The list author states that you should deflect making a final dec…

I gathered that the post was being used to draw attention to yet another instance of someone not bettering themselves and settling into a life of mediocrity. Sure, the message is familiar to just about everyone that frequents the site. However, it's nice to have a reminder of what to avoid in life. I have an example of this from my own life. I knew a couple, let's call them Bob and Alice, that is almost a mirror image of the one that is briefly described in the post. Bob got Alice accidentally p…

It can be a fun lifestyle to lead in the short term and a worthwhile experience. After a while, though, it loses its luster. A few years ago, I voluntarily changed to a lower-paying position that would allow me to telecommute for weeks on end before flying back for important meetings. Without any office distractions, I was able to complete my weekly deliverables within less than a day. I'd spend maybe fifteen to thirty minutes every afternoon checking, reading, and responding to emails, updating…

You shouldn't necessarily be doing certain things to impress others or curry favor. It's not a mindset that always yields positive outcomes. Rather, I feel that it's better to focus more on just having an exciting or adventurous time for yourself and bringing someone along to enjoy that ride if they want to be a part of it. I can elaborate a bit on some of these points. A few days ago, I went out to a local pub with an old friend of mine. We mainly wanted to catch up after a few years and watch …

If my experiences in grad. school are any indication, it's often much easier to pick up girls in that age range compared to when I was an undergrad. My sense is that there are multiple factors at play, such as: (i) experience dealing with women, let alone life in general, (ii) going somewhere in life and enjoying the journey, (iii) increased personal awareness, (iv) the resources and time to engage in exciting activities, and (v) an emphasis on exercising and lifting daily. For example, when I w…
